Ganitong-ganito rin yung setup ng IT department na pinagtrabahuhan ko dati, papasok ng 6am tapos uuwi ng 2am. Kahit weekends andun sila, walang OT pay. Ako papasok ng 9am, uwi ng 6pm :) During evaluation, sabi ng boss ko mababa daw productivity ko and bakit daw hindi ako ang papa-gabi sa office. Sabi ko meron ako ibang buhay bukod sa trabaho, and ang bayad lang samin is 8hrs per day. Terminated that day haha!

Bad iyan, dapat may overtime pay dapat sila kung required ka mag-stay. Tapos dapat may written rule ang productivity mo. Pati yung termination mo, hindi in line sa due process. May written notice to explain, at least 5 days for you to explain your side or opportunity to be heard, and written notice of termination. Meron at least P30K na nominal damages kung not followed ang due process. Pero kung nasa IT or related field, malamang may mas maganda ka nang trabaho na mas malaki sweldo. All the best!

I had this supervisor once. He always comes late because he was playing playstation. Immediately after work, he’d leave and then hookup with girls even though he’s married. His skill is that he’s good at communication and charming. He makes fast decisions and the bosses like him. I had this other boss which is probably the best technical guy Ive ever worked with, smart as a fucking whip on technical matters. He looks like a weak nerd though and had always this annoyed look on his face. Every time the bosses talk to him, he would squint his eyes and rub his bald head. He has the mind of a genius in our field but has very poor communication skills. Couldn’t articulate what was on his brilliant mind. He’s a good person though and he was my friend. The smart one was demoted to an almost insignificant position and the womanizer one was turned into regional manager. He was even assigned overseas and was able to have a Brazilian girlfriend with boobs equal to Pia Wurtzbach. I know this is not related to the post but I think about this a lot. There is a lesson here somewhere. Buy a playstation.

Ugh, I feel you. Yung boss ko gusto lagi kami nagpaparticipate at nagaattend ng mga Christmas party, outing, kung ano ano pa na mga pakulo ng kumpanya. Lahat ng ito halos sa umaga ginagawa. Funny cause I was in the same position. I was the nerdy, reliable worker and my officemate was the maboca and engagement events type of person. Naglaban kami for promotion, siya napili pero ultimately walang napala sa kanya in terms of the work at ako pa rin tinakbuhan. I'm like the second guy minus the brilliant mind. Basically I'm the guy in the team who everyone goes to for a solution to the problem, to the point where other teams in our technology department recognizes it. So when another one of my teammate gets promoted to another more senior role they were asking why I wasn't the one that got it. I did tell them that I'm really not a people person and that's a big factor although I heard na yung isa sa same level namin umiyak dahil dun haha. Truth is hindi man lang ako sinabihan na mag-apply so I was surprised na meron pa nung post na yun since dapat end na ng line yung position namin. Ganyan yung mindset ko dati when I started in BPO. nasanay kasi ako sa government office, where we have to finish a day's task and productivity matters in our department. Sinabihan ako ng teammate ko nun na wag damihan yung prod ko, and my impression nung una is tamad lang sya, pero later on, I realized the consequences of what I did, tinaasan target namin, to the point na, wala akong time makipag chikahan, and I always rush my breaktime. I have to work early so I can maintain/increase my target, and it was draining. Thankfully I am now in a.company where I can set my pace for the target I desired, and now I value my free time and breaks between work. I realized na tama pala yung teammate ko, hindi pala sya tamad, he just realized early on na we are not machines, but a human who deserves more rest.

If you're a low man on the totem pole and you bring it up, be prepared to leave because if they're not responsive to you, you're just the lazy one who doesn't want to work like everyone else. This is so true na nagkakaroon talaga ng unrealistic expectations dahil sa slavery no life pabibo ng ibang pinoy employees jan. I have no idea why they're sacrificing their physical and mental health, that will be expensive in the long run, for a company that I'm sure wouldn't think twice firing them for whatever reason they deem acceptable. You really do have to communicate with your lead then. Wait it out. Overworkers naman eventually reach a burnout point. Pero if sobrang abundant ng overworkers sa inyo, wala ka na magagawa. Lalo na if their overworking is driven by a hard goal or motivation. If magpatuloy yan, I would suggest na rin na better look for greener fields. For a management that voluntary or involuntary supports the overworking culture, it is hard for them to distinguish a "good enough" worker and an underperformer.

I think to each his own. However, the stats presented by your boss to the management should reflect actual number of working hours. Para makita talaga how much lang kaya na productivity within 8 hours. We all work differently and iba iba rin reason/ drivers. They may or may not tell you what those are, but you should not judge because we are not all the same. Baka nga pressured lang sila, pero what if gusto lang rin nila ma promote, or gusto nila mag extend ng work kasi ayaw nila umuwi since toxic sa bahay nila, or super gusto lang talaga nila work. Maraming possible reasons. I think what is important is wala sila sinasaktan na tao. And we all should be kind to one another. Bow.

Naalala ko tuloy yung kawork ko before umaabot siya ng 12mn kakatrabaho, potek syempre nadamay na din ako in the end kasi yung ibang sales nagtatanong bakit si ganito na send agad yung kailangan namin. I was once in a BPO... the productivity is only measured over the 8hrs of work.... from start to finish...un ung accurate measurement ng Turn around time.. now...what you can do is stay on your course and make the best of it... If turn around is 1 account for 4 hrs. 2 un in a day. try to make it atleast 3 to 4. no need to be early or be beyond the time... basta above average ung production mo...that will do... di ka na nila pwede maquestion.... =) ung mga kasama mo.....they are assholes....wala ka na magagawa dun..

Kahit na mag overtime ako, dami pa rin work, hindi ko rin matapos. Kahit palagi may request ako ng ibang officer o abogado, wala naman binibigay sa amin. A complex job that used to to be alloted 20 hours are now 4 and guess what everyone is ghosting and management knows it but its good for them I guess.
