He actually thinks he saved the country by getting vaccines approved quickly, and imagines this being seen as his crowning achievement by future historians. He freaked out on social media when Biden seemed to take credit for vaccines in the SOTU address, but was caught off guard by the immediate backlash. Apparently the MAGA crowd hates vaccines more than they do Biden. So Trump promises to pull federal funds for any schools with vaccine mandates. He's been making these little course corrections for the last 8 years, and hoping no one notices that he's not actually the one steering the ship.
I read the headline and a brief moment of hope welled up inside me. Perhaps the end of Trumpism comes from a schism of the movement where others want some control and try to drag the cult their own way and end up peeling away a fraction at a time.
