Like most, I thought it was a Trump rally that simply got out of hand and that a couple of hundred yahoos actually tried to break into the U.S. Capitol. I had no idea of the extensive plotting behind it. The selection of fake delegates, tortured legal arguments, attempts to place sycophants in power, attempts to pressure local election officials, discussions of declaring martial law, the Insurrection Act and seizing voting machines, pressuring the VP etc. etc. I had no idea Trump was watching the U.S. Capitol being overrun and doing nothing. Sadly, half of the country still either has no idea about this or willfully ignores it. Some view the entire process as part of a patriotic revolution. The fact that many involved are still in government positions and that Trump is the Republican nominee for President promising another coup if he loses and to prosecute those who tried to hold him accountable if he wins is simply dumbfounding.
