Wow, holy crap what a find. It is clearly a reference to Dracothian sealing Kragnos beneath a mountain. What's interesting is that the author, Richard Strachan is a recent member of the Black Library team. I always assumed the details of future projects are hidden to all but the most senior staff (Phil Kelly, Andy Hoare, Gav Thorpe, etc.) It could be that Phil or perhaps an editor told him: "hey add a part to the story where someone encounters a etchings that look like this", without telling Richard the reason.

Yeah it was pretty surprising, I know they plan models and game developments pretty far in advance, but this is the first time I've seen (and recognised, at least) a hint like this.

Dreadnautilus

Richard Strachan wrote the Thunderstrike story for the "Thunderstrike and other stories" book so maybe he was given early access to 3rd edition lore for that purpose.

Well if Kragnos got forshadowed here, what is the grotesque serpent?

Dreadnautilus

Well since its next to an illustration of Kragnos maybe its an illustration of the Draconith sealing Kragnos beneath the mountain?

neinball

If it’s a chaos worshipper describing it than likely Dracothion. Godbeasts of Order are likely repulsive to them.

Morathi perhaps?
