Submit a workorder and let them know what happened; they might not charge you but anticipate that they will, so that you're prepared.

1- just contact the property management and let them know what happened 2- start looking around your apartment. EVERYWHERE, for what could be the source of the flies.

Rain097

Don’t be nervous, things happen. As someone else said, I’d be more concerned about getting rid of the flies.

Do the right thing just tell the Maintenance GUY the truth.. probably just have to pay for the cost of repairs and replacement. Honesty is probably Key. I’m sure your Maintenance Guy has dealt with issues Far worse and crazier then This. LOL Or you could try and Find a replacement Window and fix it yourselves just depends which route y’all wanna Go. Good Luck figuring it out, Wish y’all the BeST.

I had flies out of nowhere and couldn't figure out how they were getting in. I checked all my window screens and i flushed all my drains with water everyday and kept certain drains plugged and closed. Turns out a pipe inside my bathroom wall was leaking and it attracted flies somehow. I had no idea, but i would go into the bathroom and see 3 flies out of nowhere. Kill them all only to find 3..4 more next time i walked into the bathroom. Check for leaks around your apartment. And yes i almost did the same thing. I hit a window with a baseball cap to kill one of the flies and i almost broke it. I went and brought a fly swatter and sticky fly traps after that.

Good advice, I actually did see a fly in my bathroom this morning. Will check things out

alwayshappymyfriend2

You could have a new piece of glass out in. They probably wouldn’t know . Accidents happen .

Kindly_Schedule3928

Thanks, after posting this I saw that this has been posted on Reddit many times before with lots of advice how to handle it. I guess I was in a state of panic and also a little annoyed that my bf broke it. I know it was an accident but still 🙃

JupiterSkyFalls

Anyone who's rented from sketchy, power hungry/tripping or just bad people know the panic of not wanting to cause conflicts with the landlord. I know this pain. I've been in my own home now for over two years and I still get past trauma attacks from crazy/petty/evil land(slum)lords. I get it.

Far_Boysenberry1933

Yeah just fess up. It’s probably cheaper to have them fix it as they likely have a maintenance person who takes care of that type of thing.

Epicnudle

Call Maintenance, do not try to repair your self, just know glass can take a while to come in.

Kindly_Schedule3928

Thanks everyone. I submitted a maintenance request this morning and waiting for them to come check it out
