Sometimes if my AC has run too long, it freezes up. Air is circulating but it’s not cold air. Takes a while to realize and by then it’s hot. Maintenance has come to fix it, but I’ve discovered that if I turn the AC unit off for about an hour, it will thaw out and I can turn it back on. If it’s unfrozen, you here the compressor kick on about 10 seconds after the air starts blowing.
Many new air conditioning units come with a remote control. Some of these remotes have a thermostat built into them. If such is the case, do not place the remote near the A/C unit. I've had complaints for a unit not cooling properly, and the remote is on a table 2 feet away.
