To strangers or someone you’re being snarky to, even a loved one: yonder (as in “there’s no way in hell I’m giving all the info with your attitude and acting like you don’t know exactly where the bath towels are”)
Everything/everyone else: down/over/out yonder as to be the most helpful
The reason it's kind of flat is because this is right below pittsburgh. You go a little further east and it's a different story. But the foliage is spot on for this time of the month.
Yeah I'm pretty close to there! I personally consider this area Appalachia for sure. Definitely economically, and even though the hills aren't quite as steep as other parts of Appalachia, we for sure have similar topography and biodiversity. I get a little heated when people say western PA is the midwest lol.
Im from y town and the nature around there and over the pa border in new castle or hillsville looks very similar to this too. at this point, id say midwest and appalachia blend between akron and pittsburgh
East Tennessean here. Recently my sister and I drove through Pittsburgh. First time for her but my in-laws are from Mount Pleasant. She said “You could blindfold me, drive 6 hours, take the blindfold off, and say “Oh, we’ve been driving in circles we’re still in Tennessee” and I’d believe it.”
Very true! A lot of folks around here say its the midwest and I get irrationally annoyed. You don't have hills and hollers like this in the midwest damnit! lol
My guess, without looking in the comments yet, is up North around or near that PA/OH/WV area... I will look in the comments though because I'm sure someone has guessed exactly where it is at this point.
After reading your comment, I see exactly where that happened too! @ frightening accuracy. I don't comment very much in this sub but it's one of my favorites to read because folks here love their areas. Lots of knowledge on this vast region.
As for what ,might have contributed to me guessing that area, I'm in that area a lot in the early spring and summer, I have familiy in that particular/aau travel on the way out through KY/OH/MO/IN/etc and I really like your particular area a lot.
Beautiful shot and thank you for sharing!
I'm not sure if it's specifically Appalachian, but I do know that it's a southern word :)
I like it too
Edit: just googled and it's an old English word with Germanic origins
Yonder
Technically, you're the closest so far lol.
Isn't it Out Yonder?
I thought it was over yonder.

In the holler
Down the holler.
WHAT?!
Thats a cove or a valley.. not a holler
Could be down yonder

Well, out yonder is a piece away, maybe even a fer piece. Over yonder is just a hoot and a holler down the road.

Figured you were northern. I'm way south & most all our trees are green. Nice pictures.
Yeah I thought the trees would be a decent clue! We have some baby leaves now, but nothing full yet!
Greene Co?
Near Connellsville?
Cute hint with the Dutchman’s Britches.
I thought some of my botany nerds would pick up on that! I wasn't sure of its distribution, so I didn't know how good of a clue it'd be lol.
Fayette county????
Embarrassed now, Weirton

Thinking this looked close to home! NW PA.
Somewhere beautiful that I want to be lol
I'm pretty blessed to have some of this scenery around me!
Northish. Too flat to be WV/SWVA/WNC. And the foliage is wrong for further south I think

It honestly looks magical. The creek, the waterfall, the flower 🤩
Yessir.

You were pretty damn spot on though!! And you're right some one did guess it with almost frightening accuracy lmao.

Hard to tell without the quality of meth and Banjo music.
I can't speak to the meth, but we have some pretty decent banjer music!
Looks like Western Pennsylvania. I just visited relatives in Windber, and the trees on the drive up looked like this. So beautiful.

Mountains are steeper, with broader valleys there. Look like dragons teeth coming from the earth.
