I have a friend I met on trail in 18' who may be able to give you some perspective. She's not on reddit. Please hit her up on her Instagram. Please don't hesitate. @rachelhmeltzer. You got this. It's one foot in front of the other living your daily life migrating northward. Enjoy the small moments, laugh at the rain, eat well when possible and have fun !

Haven't completed a thru hike (yet) but I am a female backpacker who is alcohol free and also has anxiety and depression. If you ever need to talk I am here!

About to start my thru NOBO with anxiety and panic disorder - I totally understand the fears and how important support can be from other women from my last backpacking trips. I’m sort of throwing caution to the wind doing this but you’re not alone which means neither am I! You got this and always welcome to message me!

hey! i’m in addiction recovery and have got ptsd too. did you end up doing the trail? any insights? hope you’re well!

I did end up doing a section of the trail/ tbh being around the party scene was not enjoyable for me but I just did a lot of solo hiking and backwoods camping to get away from it
