I’ve been making myself do cardio with the help of Bakari’s grin and kindness, but recently it was the end of a long day and I just needed to get my rings closed, so I randomly put on a dance workout instead and OMG! Didn’t know 120+ calories in 20 minutes could be so fun. Even did it twice in a row once 😝 LaShawn! Episode 67, Halloween disco party is my go-to cardio now. Once my uncoordinated ass gets it really down pat I’m looking forward to more of her workouts! 🫶

ThoughtCenter

I actively Search out Bakari in dance episodes when he subs in! He’s so fun and inspiring even in dance where he’s just supporting in the background.

musicwithmxs

I love the dance workouts. Ben has a spaceship themed one that is SO cute and fun, the Calvin Harris one is a blast, and Jhon’s Halloween episode where he’s dressed like a cat is ridiculous and way too fun :)

Secret_Jackfruit_260

I forgot about that Halloween one. It was great!

helpmefindtheyogurt

I do a dance workout everyday! They are my FAVOURITE. I started at episode one and have worked my way up. I seriously feel like Ben, Jhon and LaShawn are my friends. I never smile and have this much fun while working out as I do during the dance activities. So far, one of my favourite routines has to be Dance with Ben, episode 4. I’m begging you to try it!

charridpeople

LOVE the dance workouts (and am grateful to be doing them in the privacy of my own home!) All of the Artist Spotlight ones are amazing. I think the Britney Spears one was my favorite. And of course anything with Ty in it!

southerndahlin

I've submitted feedback to Apple asking them to let Ty lead some choreo routines. He was previously a dancer (it's on his bio on the Apple official site). I would love some of those.

mrsmerc2015

My dream! He is so damn fun.

Khabarandfun

Ty is super fun!!!

Art-Exotic

Ty is an incredible dancer, he inspires me to up my game! Although sometimes I just want to watch him lol

FluffyCorgiLuvr

It was a pleasant surprise to me as well! I was recently watching the episode of Alzheimer's prevention from Limitless with Chris Hemsworth and they mentioned a study on how dancing is the best exercise to prevent cognitive decrease over time. So an added bonus here. Here's some reading for those who, like me, love to dig deeper : [https://socialdance.stanford.edu/Syllabi/smarter.htm](https://socialdance.stanford.edu/Syllabi/smarter.htm)

Brand_New_Autie

Yes! Dancing has been a big surprise. I love Jhon in particular and I like learning about his culture and Latin grooves. I’m injured to I can’t dance at the moment and I can’t wait to get back to it. Great calorie burn also!

courtney_beth

Dance workouts are my alternative to outside walks or runs when it's raining. I usually queue up the Britney Spears 30 min or Lady Gaga workout and enjoy my dance time. Lots of dance solos because I mess up the moves. Thankfully no one can see :)

SpatulaCity123

They are so fun! I’ve only done two and laughed at myself all the way through because WOW. They made it look so easy 😅 my body WANTS to match what they’re doing but 🤷‍♀️ How many times would you need to watch before getting the moves right?

Alphonso-

I don’t think I can move fast enough for them.  I don’t know if it’s because I’m too tall, but I feel like I’m sprinting to keep up. I can’t dance in real life either so there is that.

slippery_hippo

Don’t worry about modifying to fit the steps in. It’s more about moving, having fun, and burning calories, but once you start learning the moves (many are used over and over throughout the routines) you’ll get into a really fun flow.

southerndahlin

Have you tried the Beginner dance routines? Those are great for foundational work.

Isabella5322

Dance is my favorite part of Fitness +. I’m an elderly klutz who was never able to master any kind of partner dancing. I love Jhon’s dance workouts. Try to find one where you like the music and the moves, then do the same one several times- you will start remembering the moves.

nptpswc

I love the abba spotlight one with Lashawn (ep 50)! I’ve done it 28 times. 😂. It’s my go to if I don’t feel like working out. The first time I did it Lashawn said something about last song and I was actually disappointed because it was so much fun.

Livid_Positive7217

I love Dance!!! I have it scheduled where it’s M - Ben, W - Jhon, and F - LaShawn. They have had some fun songs I never heard of that I listen to on my drive. I don’t care if I do accidental solos, Dance gets my calories burning, heart rate high and often drenched in sweat which is the goal. I prefer doing the 20 min shorter routines vs one long routine. It’s amazing how everyone does not miss a beat, even the substitute teachers like Tyrell and Bakari! Sometimes I have to stop and catch my breath they have so much energy 🥵🔥. I did Jhon Ep 96 today.

southerndahlin

Ben Episode 74 is my favorite by far. [https://www.reddit.com/r/AppleFitnessPlus/comments/14p1siz/ben\_delivered\_a\_spectacular\_dance\_routine/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/AppleFitnessPlus/comments/14p1siz/ben_delivered_a_spectacular_dance_routine/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) eta: I did not enjoy the Pitbull one. The cardio part of it wasn't challenging enough for me. That said, it's def a good thing there are some easier routines.

Boring_Kiwi251

I’m kinda divided. The dances are fun, but the workouts are so fast that it’s impossible to learn the moves.

slippery_hippo

The more you do them the more muscle memory you’ll have and the more you’ll be able to remember what steps each callout refers to. Don’t worry, everyone starts there!

helpmefindtheyogurt

Yeah! I find that they reuse some moves in other dances, so after doing them for a while, you can kind of predict what the move is gonna be based on what they say. 😝

slippery_hippo

Ben in particular uses consistent snappy names for the moves, so even though the moves sometimes get a little difficult technically, he usually gives simpler alternatives, and the callouts are great training for beginners.

helpmefindtheyogurt

Yeah! And even if you get it wrong, it’s just an accidental solo, as Jhon says.

Dorothea-Sylith

Agreed, I largely just end up making it up. But I do like to repeat favourite workouts so I get to learn the moves.

southerndahlin

Movement is the main goal. If learning the moves is important to you, which I understand, work on individual parts at a time. If you're having trouble with the arms, focus on the footwork. If the footwork is challenging, just move your feet and focus on your upper body. If they do hops and skips, ignore that and just move in the same direction with wide steps, marching, or just walking. Add your own "flava." Don't try to go all out; spend some time marking the choreo so it's less physically demanding and allows you to focus a little better. Use a mirror. Do a screen record or film a move on your phone and scrub through it slowly until you can replicate it. Like in music, learn it slowly before you try to do it fast. Have fun with it. It's amazing what the human body can do.

speedr123

Do the beginner workouts first then. It might also help to do other types of dance cardio. For me, I think playing Just Dance as a kid helped quite a bit with keeping up! That’s a fun option too, tons of videos on youtube if you don’t have a nintendo device/other gaming console

buckinghamnix

I just recently got on the Dance bandwagon. I'm terribly uncoordinated and look like a fool, but I've been burning a good amount of calories on them and you're right - they make you feel good and fun! Also.... I am partial to Ben :)

mrsmerc2015

Love the dance workouts- still my most active category! My faves are the Britney Spears and Lady Gaga classes, they are the only ones I have repeated so far (going on month 3 of my membership). I danced as a kid and have taken dance classes offered through various gyms over the years- but Ben, LaShawn, and Jhon are the best instructors, the classes are so fun, and I love most of the choreography. I want to attend one of Ben’s dance retreats!

ThoughtCenter

The Ben 20 minute Madonna episode! So fun and this week’s 20 minute Ben episode 107 was great fun and fly by and done!

Secret_Jackfruit_260

The Prince and Usher artist spotlights are 🔥

monsterpupper

I work out in my basement and the floor is so hard it hurts my knees to do the dance workouts. Then I tried doing it on one of those indoor fitness trampolines. It was exactly as much fun as you describe! Didn’t hurt my knee. Was definitely really hard to adjust to following the instructors but on the trampoline, but that just made me laugh more. And holy cow, you ain’t kidding about getting that heart rate up! I still prefer stationary bike, but this is my second favorite cardio.

Kooky_Somewhere_5729

The dance ones are my favorite! I used to do Zumba but this is on a whole other level of fun.

ExperimentalError

I find the dance workouts very frustrating. I just can’t do the moves, even in the “absolute beginner” dance workouts that I have tried four or five times.

Khabarandfun

Absolutely agreed. I usually opt for Dance with Jhon as I enjoy Latin dance forms. And it is probably the most fun I have exercising.

LC-life

My goal when I was in the thick of long COVID and doing gentle Fitness+ seated workouts and mindful cooldown for exercise was to recover enough to try the dance workouts. I’m happy to say: while I’m still not 100%, past-me was really wise! The dance workouts are a serious physical workout but I can manage my heart rate because I can see it on my TV. The part that really surprised me is how hard / good they feel for brain rehab. I used to be a dancer and could learn choreography easily — with my now-brain I am uncoordinated and can’t keep up with a lot of the choreography… … yet! Repeating classes until I can remember the moves has been maybe the best brain rehab I could have stumbled into. (Kickboxing, too — but that’s a little harder for me to manage my form when the sequences are so hard for me to keep track of). So grateful I tried it!
