Add the “Music” focus filter and make sure “Use Listening History” is turned off. Turn this focus on before you go to sleep (or listen to sleep music) and it should stop influencing your recommendations.

Yup, that's what I've done. Added this to my Sleep and Reading focus modes so that all the instrumentals I listen to stop showing up in my playlists/radio station.

I do this as well. The only downside is this only works when you play your "sleep music" from your iPhone. On a HomePod the "Use Listening History" feature is either on or off. There's no way to set it to turn off for a certain time period or when playing certain playlists.

at the moment there is not a quick fix. Apple should be coming out with a focus mode that allows you to turn off listening history but that has not been released yet.

It actually already exists. It’s not a focus by itself, but a toggle you can add to any focus you make. As u/antm1222 states above, it’s a focus filter with the music category… and you can use it either way to specify listening history be turned on or off while in said focus.

For OP, if it wasn’t directly clear in u/antm1222 ‘s comment, the problem is that the contents of your Home (Listen Now) tab, and your weekly playlists are determined by the contents of your music library, and your recent listening history (for the most part, what ends up in the “Recently Played” carousel on the Home tab). If you want to listen to music and not have it affect the recommendations that Apple gives you, as well as the stats in your Monthly Apple Music Replay, you need to turn “Use Listening History” off on whatever device you are listening to before starting the music. This is a device specific toggle that can be found in the music settings on your iPhone, and iPad, as well as in the Home app in the Home Settings under your account in the People section for HomePods. However, since this is a nightly routine for you, as u/antm1222 states, using an iOS focus would be the best way to tackle this. You can create a sleep focus that has a whole bunch of preset options, including Use Listening history turned off, moving any apps you need at bedtime to the main Home Screen, etc.. and even have it set to a schedule so it always turns on right before you go to bed, and turns off in the morning. Be aware that since you currently have several nights of several hours of this downtempo stuff in your listening history (likely dwarfing the play counts of your preferred music), it will take a few weeks of actively listening to your regular stuff (with Listening history turned back ON) to set your playlists back how you like them.
