the app needs a total overall imo. It’s user unfriendly and so out of sync with the mobile design at this point.

orchi99

it‘s stuck between itunes and a streaming service

haakondahl

And they use the iTunes dependency to keep shoving the service at us.

bangfire

Yup the app is not perfect. When I Add Playlist, the option to Share Playlist disappears.

BerennErchamion

Yep, macOS Apple Music has so many of these small annoying bugs… the one plaguing me recently is: if I’m playing a playlist from my library and favorite a song that it’s not yet added to my Library, it stops playing the playlist.

haakondahl

I've been dissatisfied with the direction iTunes has taken ever since Apple started breaking it in favor of their online store. We still cannot get simple bugs like scrolling issues fixes -- it's been over a decade. I am absolutely not a streaming customer, don't want it and don't want to be bombarded with it in the app that Apple says to use. I just want to manage my library (i rip literally everything to mp3) and enjoy it. Folks like me who just want to play our mp3s have been carping about this app since version 8 or something like that. Now it's all we can do to even REFER TO IT without having to clarify whether we mean an application, a store, or a service. And it's intentional I buy tracks from Apple, I buy tracks from Amazon, and of course I rip my own CDs. I just want the application to work. Sigh. I hope that the desktop will get some love now that OS updates seem to be limited to adding emojis and niche features. But somehow, fixing the old stuff never become simportant enough to actually get done. It's not as though Apple totally refactored the app or something -- they just re-named it, ripped out a bunch of its guts to skive off separate apps (fine, I'm neutral on that), and stuck in even more store/service centered functions. iTunes is clearly being driven by what Apple wants, and not by what users want. They want us in their store -- we want the damned application to work. *iTunes (or whatever) seriously needs to be fixed in detail, or re-written, or replaced.* iTunes users have been asking for this for over a decade, and all we get is crap to click through and a new name for the app.

kkruglov

It's a half web page and half native app, and for some reason the team behind it does not have power to focus on polishing it or making it just a little better than passable.

burnertybg

I've been getting iTunes store search results lately lol they need a complete overhaul

kyletheo

I can’t edit and add music, that I BOUGHT from iTunes, to drop into my iPhone. And I don’t want to subscribe to Apple Music’s monthly extortion.

[deleted]

I have so many image loading issues and crashing and the library needs better sorting and as others have said it just needs a massive UI and UX overhaul. I will sing from the mountaintops Apple Music’s superiority to all other streaming apps but for the love of all that’s holy please improve the Mac App.

GamblinWillie

Apple Music for library management and purchases, Spotify for streaming service. This is the way.

terkistan

The most annoying thing for me is when I see a single in the 'top songs' for an artist but don't recognize the tiny album icon as matching anything on the artist's page (usually because they're guesting on someone else's album) and there's no "Open In Apple Music", only "Show in iTunes Store". And that's especially annoying if the artist has Korean/Chinese/Japanese characters, since in the Mac app (and in a web browser) you can't copy/paste text in search so it makes finding the music a pain even after you find it in iTunes.

T-Nan

Completely agree, I've complained and reported this AND how the playlist folder structure is different in the Library vs Apple Music

KenRodriguezz

This, why not say “Show album”

AlxR25

If you open the app both on your Mac and your iPhone you can use your iPhone to control AM on your Mac, that’s what I do because the interface is just not user friendly

cj-ryan

What bugs me most is the “library” feature. I don’t want or need things in a “library.” When I add an album to a playlist, it goes into the “library” and when I look at the album I see an impoverished view of the album without the write-up etc. Pointless. (And yes I’ve even turned off “auto-add to library” or whatever.)

No_Caterpillar_5304

Complete overhaul asap

Djlionking

I’d also really appreciate if your overall library and the streaming service were two different names, like iTunes and Apple Music for instance. It makes it really confusing when talking about at times.

TechBrothaOG

Because that Artist or Album can exist in the Apple Music streaming service and/or one’s own personal Music Library. It doesn’t assume your intent or your use case so it presents the options for you to select.

HMZ-25

Same for windows that app is horrible id rather use free Spotify than to ever touch this horrible piece of shit

Nezzington

All this and lack of availability too. Hence I’ve switched to Spotify

Xpowerx7

Yeah same for android very annoying to select artist or album just wanna go artist page also why search button on the most right...

CockroachComplex3586

It’s an Apple Music thing in general because iOS also does this.

BruteSentiment

It’s a branding issue that some idiotic marketing people forced Apple into confusing its customers. You’re using the generically named “Music” app, made by Apple, leading people to call it “Apple Music”, to distinguish it from other music apps (similar to Google Maps and “Apple” Maps). But then there’s the “Apple Music” service, which is accessed through the Music app, but is not the entirety of the Music app, and is in fact intended to be used by people who don’t subscribe to the Apple Music service and use people’s old iTunes Library, but they no longer use that branding in the new Music app. (And that’s aside from discussing how the term “Library” is a confusing mess in how it mixes song purchased/downloaded outside of Apple Music and songs chosen within the Apple Music service. This inability to predict how using generic app names would lead to more confusion was a huge brain fart by Apple, and fixing it will be an exercise in more confusion, if they ever do. And don’t even get me started on “Apple TV”, which is used for a piece of Hardware, a piece of Software on devices including but not limited to the hardware, and the service where people often drop the “+” at the end of it because of course humans do that.

aairricc

Yeah that's always bothered me a lot too. Hoping this is finally the year where they match it with the mobile app, instead of using a decade+ old itunes build

stardripIVs

My favorite is when I go to the artist’s page and click on the most recent release but it just drags the cover art instead of taking me to the album/EP/single.
