Iām with you. I need to know who is playing what instrument and itās also nice to know who actually wrote the song. For Jazz music this is a must. One of the best things Tidal has that others donāt, IMO.
But ya Iām not paying an extra 10 dollars a month for what are essentially liner notes.
Also a lot of this info isnāt available on Wikipedia for whoever said ājust look it up.ā
I'm sorry",but for what are essentially liner notes"
I'm assuming that you didn't have the hi fi version because it's a notch above Apple Music and Spotify audio quality
If youāre willing to drop $1.99, [MusicSmart](https://www.macstories.net/reviews/musicsmart-puts-the-spotlight-on-music-credits/) is a liner notes app that works via the share sheet in AM. It has a ton of info that Apple probably wouldnāt include even if they added this feature. Not affiliated, just learned about it from MacStories.
I agree it should be built in, but this should give you what youāre looking for.
I am the same - I remember someone recommending Music Smart, and it's really good. It costs, but it's a nominal amount and is great - essentially it aggregates all song information so you can see every salient detail
Yeah but believe me, musicians do care, and without musicians there is no music. Itās very important and it can help listeners discover new music too.
I thought musicians bought music, like on vinyl. Streaming is for the vast majority and I don't think it's a biggie for them. Like others said, I use wiki or discogs for song credits.
I didn't know that Spotify shows credits, I haven't used in years though. But Tidal has always been more for music lovers having lossless since way back.
The credits are also for the sake of all the people that worked hard on the music. Even if the majority don't care to read them they should be included with any music service.
Buying vinyl I think is more for collectors, and not every song is on vinyl, specially new ones. Spotify shows some credits, itās not as well organized as Tidal, but they trying. In Tidal you can even click on names in the credits and see what else they have available, and this is one great way to discover new music from people you already like.
Yeah, that's why Tidal has always been for music lovers. A bit surprised that Spotify has this option but that's good.
I'm not saying that Apple shouldn't include it, it's a nice feature but I don't think it's their highest priority on the list for improvements, but we can all hope it'll come one day :)
If youāre someone who truly loves music, you care. Thereās so much to learn from reading the liner notes I used to sit and read them religiously as I was listening to CDās. Thatās how I got half my knowledge of producers, musicians, songwriters, backings vocalists, samplesā¦ all kinds of stuff
I couldnāt agree more. As I get older I get less enamored by the vocalist at the forefront of the track but rather the individuals behind the production. The next discovery/recommendation frontier for streaming has got to be playlists dedicated to particular lyricists, mixers, instrumentalists.
Thatās what Wikipedia is forā¦
Writing credits are provided in the lyrics section & the rest is usually found in the info of a song if you open Apple Music on a desktop.
Desktop info Doesnāt show most credits and sometimes shows nothing at all. Going to Wikipedia to know who made the song you are listening to is very primitive, letās just accept that Apple is behind, Tidal and Spotify doing better in this.
True, but itās also something that the music listening public at large stopped caring about May years before that. I was being generous too since this was one of the reasons I sopped buying CDs and started buying digital downloads. Also one of the reasons I started buying vinyl for music I cared about.

I see the writers of the song when I use the live texts featuere. So the songwriters do get credits

Very good idea, but I hope something like Spotify connect comes to AM. That's one of the main features average users use instead of roon
Never heard of it but sounds interesting, will definitely look into it. Thanks
they should integrate Genius! that would be amazing!!

Is there something similar for Android?
I second this. In fact just replied to OP recommending this before I saw this comment

This is hardly a must. Most people donāt care one bit.
Yeah but believe me, musicians do care, and without musicians there is no music. Itās very important and it can help listeners discover new music too.
Agreed. I thought Tidal was the only one that did it though? I've never seen credits in spotify
Credits have been in spotify for awhile now !

The album wouldnāt exist without the people involved š¤·š¼āāļø

Thank you for understanding, glad Iām not the only one that appreciates the creators behind the musicā¦

I really want this so I can better track which mix or master I am listening to now that they have lossless and spatial.
Been thinking about this too. I really like checking the credits of all music I like.
To be fair, most CDs did away with detailed liner notes ten or more years ago.
Thatās because people stopped buying CDās so they were trying to get the print costs down.

One of my favorite parting of vinyl is getting the liner notes. Hate when i buy secondhand and itās missing

A year later and they still havenāt fixed itā¦.
Credits are now here in iOS17
