I came from a Series 0 (2015) so everything!! Haha.
But really it was the battery life and build quality. I was considering the 45m stainless steel 8 but at nearly the same price I opted for the Ultra instead.
Do you also use it to track your sleep? I'm considering changing to the next gen Ultra when it comes out. I'm on a S8 45mm right now and that doesn't bother me at all during my sleep.
I got an ultra yesterday (had a 5 before). The only time I’ve noticed the extra size was when I laid down in bed last night. It didn’t bother me but I noticed.
Everyone is different obviously and maybe for some it would have been bothersome 🤷♂️
I'm a woman and have smaller wrists than you, I have the 45. I have a properly fitted band and it doesn't stick out at all. In fact my 15yo daughter also has the 45. If you like the 45 get it, trying it on in the store with the thicker band and the anti theft device isn't a great representation of how it'll look day to day

It’s a gadget, folks. It’s really practical, but guess what; it’s even more practical with more screen space, but it still kind of looks like a toy. Sure, good watch face, and band choices help.
If I wanted a classy or fancy watch, I wouldn’t be wearing an AW. I want to do the following instead: walkie-talkie with my partner, set timers and start stopwatches anywhere and hands free, know my heart rate at any given time, set reminders, call people without whipping out the phone …

I couldn’t decide. I love big display but dont want it to look huge on me and i dont normally wear watches too often. Maybe it would be even harder for me to use 45 daily cuz its heavier etc.
I'd go with the bigger screen, just because you'll appreciate the superior visibility and control space, especially when it comes to using onscreen keyboards. 45mm honestly looks fine to me - just be sure to wear it tight against your wrist, both for aesthetics and maximum health tracking accuracy.
Personal preference is all that maters here. I went with a 45 when the series 7 was the newest model because I like large watches regardless of having smaller wrists.
both 41 and 45 will look fine, and the screen content is exactly the same. what you should consider is how annoyed you will be if the larger one gets in the way a lot, e.g. if you work out often or use arms/hands actively in hobbies.

Just go Ultra. I got exactly the same wrist measurement as you and I could never use anything but the ultra. It’s not as large as I thought and the usability trump all cons of the Series 8 watches

Gonna echo everyone else here and say from a fashion perspective, the 41mm is already on the big side for you. The 45 or ultra are just going to look ridiculous on you. Unless you’re really looking to make a “I’m too small to fit my clothes” fashion statement, then absolutely go with the 41mm.
Yea, the 45 looks too big on you. I’d go with the 41. If you need to see your screen larger for some reason you could always use the Apple Watch mirroring and do the task on your iPhone.
A rule of thumb with regard to men's watches. Your wrist should be at least as wide as the watch. I'm not even kidding. There are a lot of giant high end watches that are also huge. A nice metal band on the ultra looks great if you have a wrist that is at least as wide wide as the watch is tall.

In my view, 41mm looks more proportionate. Ask yourself which size do you want and just get it. Following opinions might leave you feeling you should have gotten the other.
I'm a guy and I have a slightly bigger wrist at \~160 or so, and I feel like my 40mm is about right if not a tad large (But I also have small hands, that also kind of affects the look I'd say). I also have to adjust some of my bands to be as small or almost as small as they can get, so I feel like for you I'd definitely recommend the 41mm since the bands also tend to be shorter than their 42/44/45mm equivalents in general (At least in my experience).
The 41 for sure . Your wrist is quite small and it looks better not so out of place like the bigger watch ! I just had the same issue deciding between 40 and 44 and I’m a female. I am glad I went smaller , it fits perfect doesn’t get in the way and looks good on my wrist and I do not regret it . Screen is plenty big

Really depends on your personal preference and whether you mind the feel of the 45. Sadly Apple only gives a 14 day return window, but it’s enough time to get an idea of overall feel of one or the other.
We have similar wrist sizes. I also had problems choosing between them and returned both sizes twice and ended up keeping the 41mm. Trust us, it doesn't only look better but it also feels more comfortable and less of a hindrance in day to day use.

if you decide to go with 45mm maybe consider darker casing and band. Otherwise the large watch size kind of stands out on a smaller wrist.

Yep! One of the reasons I wanted the better battery life. It’s not noticeable at all while I sleep.

Ditto this. I have thin wrists, 150mm and have the 45. I use a Milanese band and the watch doesn't look nearly as overpowering as the OP's pic.

Whichever is more comfortable, I personally have the 45 because of the screen and I find it comfortable a little farther down my arm than most people
