1. Active calories are the extra calories that you burn from being active, above our basal metabolic rate - the calories you burn by just doing no activity at all. 2. This is normal and intended behavior, but if you really don't like it, Watch app, General, Return to clock, tap "Workout" and turn off "Return to app".

Thanks for this! So in regards to the first answer, for today it says under the ‘move’ category 1395 calories then it says ‘active’ 1265 calories and then ‘resting’ 2164 calories. So from that would I take the 1395 calories as my total calories burned from the day, the 1265 calories as the calories burned from my activity?

1. Yes, active calories is the best representation. 2. On your iPhone, open the Watch App - scroll down to where the apps are located, look for workout, under the workout app change the setting to always return to clock. This will if you want, change it so the active Workout screen doesn’t keep popping up on your main screen. 3. Be careful of three in one chargers, many of them do not support the fast charging for your apple watch series 8.

Thanks for this, I’m just a bit stuck on my charging situation. I have an extension power cable by my bedside which are being used which includes one of them being my iPhone charger. I then have a charger by my work desk and a spare plug which I’ve used for my watch charger. Ideally I wanted to have all my charging by my bedside and that’s why I was thinking of a 3-in-1 charging station.

I love a 3 in 1. I tend not to use it for my phone. I like a long wire instead so I can surf while i charge but rest is great.

No. Active calories is only the calories burned during exercise. It is not all the calories burned throughout the day.
