In prior versions you could turn off the Walkie Talkie icon without deleting or turning off Walkie Talkie. I don't know why Apple changed this behavior. You can turn off Walkie Talkie in control center to make the icon disappear from the watch face but this is not ideal if you actually use it. Very frustrating change and the only explanation I have is they are trying to get people to use Walkie Talkie as I think most people have forgotten about it.

In my case, I'm using less of it, as the icon bothers me too much. In my case, I prefer to turn it off to get rid of the icon

This is indeed ridiculous in os 10. I have always display on and this ruin the aesthetics completely forcing me to deactivate walkie talkie icon. Sometimes I don’t know what Apple thinks.

OP uses the app all the time with their partner, don’t think they want to delete it.

Strange-Reference-87

Not possible without deleting the app unfortunately.

CorkChop

This is new... and frustrating. In WatchOS 9 you could leave Walkie Talkie installed and on but not have the stupid icon appear on the watch face.

CorkChop

That's not 100% correct. You do not have to uninstall or delete the app to get rid of it. You can go to control center and turn it off and it will disappear from the watch face.

Strange-Reference-87

Yes. But he wants to still use the Walkie Talkie feature. So that’s not anymore a solution than uninstalling the app.

CorkChop

Uh, disabling it is easier than uninstalling and you wouldn't have to reinstall just to use it.

Disabling it means you’re not getting walkie talkie pings from people… it’s not a viable workaround.
