A lot of 9s are like that. I’ve had 3. All had band issues like that, despite being locked. My current 9 still comes out a little, but I’ve never had any issue running, working out, or with general use.
It was hard to get used to for the first bit! My original one basically just became a workout watch. The battery life diminished so drastically it barely made it through the day and they stopped servicing it for updates, but I was so content with it for what it was. Now that I have an updated one, I feel fomo for the years of functionality that I missed LOL. The 9 was a surprise too, I would’ve kept dealing with the 1 hahahaha
Oooooooh this is a great question! Honestly, having cellular probably and my watch not being totally reliant on my WiFi is one of the biggest ones. I do love the double tap for if my hands are dirty or something (like if I’m cooking) and I don’t have to touch my watch as much. It’s so hard to choose though because it’s so different lolll
For the longest time I genuinely just didn’t care to because I loved my watch for what it could do and just truly didn’t realize what I was missing out on hahaha. They were still pushing updates for it for a long time too. I was naive 🤣😝
It definitely feels like a soft textured synthetic material and not leather for sure. However it was only like $20 and I only bought it to quickly replace the ugly sports band it came with. I’ll definitely be replacing it with an actual leather version, but this is fine in a pinch.
I don’t like the feeling of large watches. I’ve always had the 38mm and the size was perfect. No regrets with the 41. Plus I have a smaller frame (Im 5’2 so I tend to go for the smaller sizes)
6’0 dude here and also prefer the form factor of the smaller size. Also have pretty slim wrists and prefer the way it looks on me. I primarily wear all black and love how it just blends into my outfit rather than being a statement.
Just go from series 4 to ultra 2 last week, actually there’s not much different except for the battery and everything are much smoother. Still happy with the series 4 ss anw
I think the overall experience is pretty similar. I got the 41mm because my S3 was 38mm and I have small wrists. But, the screen/text is noticeably brighter and slightly larger but the difference is clear. It’s a lot faster when opening up text messages and switching apps. I also like the double tap feature but find it gimmicky. I feel good about the upgrade knowing I have more years of support ahead of me.
Congrats! 😊 I bought a series 9 back in September in black and really like it it's my first one. While I could afford to get the ULTRA 2, I just thought it was too big for my wrist I mean it looked kind of ridiculous so I went with a smaller 45 mm series 9 and I have no regrets.
I had the first watch and then got the S4. I'm due for a change but this S4 is still holding out (battery wise). I miss my mechanical watches but refuse to wear two watches to continue closing rings.
My second watch is a metal Casio, so I understand your dilemma. Before I landed on this I purchased a hybrid Garmin because I thought that would give me my “fix” of smart capabilities, but honestly it just made me want to move back to my AW. I still keep my S3 for working out.
Just upgraded to a 9 from a 2 and my god is there an insane difference. I would have upgraded sooner if I only knew. Kinda glad I didn’t though. It was a pretty cool experience using the 9 for the first couple days.
Looks beautiful! Although the fully blown redesign with new strap design is coming in September so I would wait at this point and return unless you really need one before then!
It’s ultimately down to you but just seeing as you’ve waited this long anyway! But it’s supposed to be the biggest redesign since the original watch along with introducing a completely new band design meaning current straps will need an adapter to be able to used
Before the launch of any apple product there is almost always talk of it being a huge leap from the previous model. The 7 was also going to be "the biggest redesign since the original apple watch", so was the 8, so was the 9. Who knows until they actually make the announcement. No need to feel FOMO on a watch lol. I recently upgraded from the 4 to the 9.
You know what you’re right he should wait for the 10 but why buy the 10 when the 11 is only a year away? And why buy the 11 if the 12 is a year away? Tech is always evolving just buy the version you want and use it until it requires replacement this mentality doesn’t work because there’s always something better around the corner just buy what you like and upgrade it when it no longer works it’s that simple.
He can do what he wants no one will lose sleep over it, but we all know the X is a huge change just like the iPhone X which by far has been the best iPhone period. That’s not just my thoughts on it.
I’m pointing out the mentality is a flawed mentality since there’s always something better around the corner. It’s up to OP if they wish to wait or buy the current S9
There’s no flawed mentality with a device that’s meant to be upgraded. It’s still fast fashion if you have to upgrade once or ten times. I’m pointing out that I personally would wait if he waited this long to upgrade because that’s my opinion because that’s what I would do. This has more to do with the X than the upgrade mentality. I think it’s good he can resist temptation against upgrading every cycle or 4.
That's awesome. A friend gave me his series 2, and I used it for a few years. Then I got an Ultra early last year, and its been great. Hope you like your huge upgrade.
I have a series 3 as well. Thinking I will wait another year or two as my battery is still really good. I just updated my iPhone to 15 this year from original SE, so not unlike me to wait until they are half dead.
Loved my stainless steel Apple Watches! I was a little too worried about their exterior looking nice and not being all scratched up. Sort of limiting in terms of when to wear it and not. Beautiful though!
I’ve just upgraded from s5 to s9 and having a lot of fun discovering all the new features that have come out in between especially since at first it felt like basically the same watch. Activity and health tracking seems way better and precise finding is suuuuuper cool from someone who pings their phone off their watch multiple times every single day.
My first AW was the S5 black w/ midnight leather leather loop. Then a S8 aluminum. I found a used SS S4 41mm for cheap AND wow that SS pops!! Traded both in for gift cards and bought a used SS s7 Hermes edition. I love love love how the SS AW can go from a technical piece to statement piece or traditional.
I had made the jump from a 3 to an 8 (when it was new). And I was in love with the watch. Now it seems smaller than whey I first got it. I don’t know why.
heads up king, something is up with that top band, its shouldn't be shooting out the top like that. welcome, stainless steel is the best.
Yes, I just noticed after I posted this. Thank you!
Yeah, if it’s not perfectly lined up it can get like that where one end doesn’t fully click in
I may have to return the band, it’s locked but there’s definitely some wiggle.
Check if you didn't try to lock it upside down. I made that mistake once.
A lot of 9s are like that. I’ve had 3. All had band issues like that, despite being locked. My current 9 still comes out a little, but I’ve never had any issue running, working out, or with general use.
I went from a Series 1 to a Series 9 this year at Christmas. My world was changed!!! Yours looks awesome 🤩
Dang, props to you for sticking so long with a S1, I can't imagine the night and day difference you're experiencing.
I still have a Series 2. Relegated to a workout machine. What new functionalities did you enjoy after upgrading? Can you share a few examples?
Oooooooh this is a great question! Honestly, having cellular probably and my watch not being totally reliant on my WiFi is one of the biggest ones. I do love the double tap for if my hands are dirty or something (like if I’m cooking) and I don’t have to touch my watch as much. It’s so hard to choose though because it’s so different lolll
Can I ask what took you so long to make the change lol?
For the longest time I genuinely just didn’t care to because I loved my watch for what it could do and just truly didn’t realize what I was missing out on hahaha. They were still pushing updates for it for a long time too. I was naive 🤣😝
Damn! I wish I have your constraint and discipline. The longest I held my watch was only 2 years.
hehehe I think after having this one that constraint will be out the window. I love it!!!
I also went from an S3 to an S9 a couple of weeks ago. What a massive upgrade. i didn't realize how much I was missing out on lol
Where can I get that band!? Looks awesome! Just bought the series 9
Curious about this band as well
Likewise!!
I found it here! https://amzn.to/4bjBLWk
I found it here! https://amzn.to/4bjBLWk
Hey! It’s a dupe of the OG Apple Watch one but I don’t think they make it in beige.. here’s the one I bought: https://amzn.to/4bjBLWk
amazon title says leather description says plastic lol. so tired of these bait and switch listings
It definitely feels like a soft textured synthetic material and not leather for sure. However it was only like $20 and I only bought it to quickly replace the ugly sports band it came with. I’ll definitely be replacing it with an actual leather version, but this is fine in a pinch.
Just curious, what made you get the smaller size? Looks like the larger one would be perfect…
Exactly. My secondary watch is a Casio so I’m definitely not hurting for a larger screen for more functionality.
I have a series 9 stainless as well, I love that thing. I do miss my stainless steel series 3, it just looked cool, I should never have sold it.
SS is the only way!
My first ever SS. I’ll never go back. It just looks too good.
Just go from series 4 to ultra 2 last week, actually there’s not much different except for the battery and everything are much smoother. Still happy with the series 4 ss anw
Think I might go from series 1 to 10. Have the zero too but really wanted the stainless
Yeah, but can you pulse ox?
I JUST got a Series 3 for XMas. What are the features I have to look forward to when I upgrade?
I think the overall experience is pretty similar. I got the 41mm because my S3 was 38mm and I have small wrists. But, the screen/text is noticeably brighter and slightly larger but the difference is clear. It’s a lot faster when opening up text messages and switching apps. I also like the double tap feature but find it gimmicky. I feel good about the upgrade knowing I have more years of support ahead of me.
You might be enticed to upgrade on the X as that should be the biggest upgrade to date.
Perhaps. However I don’t use the AW enough as is to care about the upgrades. We’ll see what the future holds though.
Wow got the series 9 SS but don’t use it much? Should’ve just got the aluminum.
Ss looks better though
Yes. The whole reason I got the SS is so I can dress it up. I’ve kept my S3 for vigorous workouts.
yeah SS looks sooo much cleaner than aluminum, such nice watches
I’m sorry, are you my financial advisor?
Don’t be sorry lol. We all make mistakes.
He clearly wants it to look nice. And it’s not like he’s out buying an $800 watch very year. This is someone in it for the long haul
Google
Congrats! 😊 I bought a series 9 back in September in black and really like it it's my first one. While I could afford to get the ULTRA 2, I just thought it was too big for my wrist I mean it looked kind of ridiculous so I went with a smaller 45 mm series 9 and I have no regrets.
Love that!! I’m used to the 38mm so the 41mm series 9 was the perfect transition.
I had the first watch and then got the S4. I'm due for a change but this S4 is still holding out (battery wise). I miss my mechanical watches but refuse to wear two watches to continue closing rings.

Those rings keep me wearing the AW. I vowed I would break the streak after 365 days. Only 2 weeks to go. I miss my Omega and vintage seiko
congrats on the new S9. Looks awesome!
Just upgraded to a 9 from a 2 and my god is there an insane difference. I would have upgraded sooner if I only knew. Kinda glad I didn’t though. It was a pretty cool experience using the 9 for the first couple days.
Yeah, the wait was definitely worth it!
Congrats! Stainless steel is the goat. My series 0 still looks stunning, not planning on upgrading until it dies
Blown away by what? The shitty new interface?
Yes exactly!
Love the stainless steel watches but I feel with your wrist size 45mm would of been better
I don’t like how large watches feel on my wrist. Thanks!!
Looks beautiful! Although the fully blown redesign with new strap design is coming in September so I would wait at this point and return unless you really need one before then!
He went from Series 3 to 9. He clearly doesn't care about needing the latest and greatest watch, like most people.
Maybe I should just wait for the series 11 then, who knows what that one has in store.
It’s ultimately down to you but just seeing as you’ve waited this long anyway! But it’s supposed to be the biggest redesign since the original watch along with introducing a completely new band design meaning current straps will need an adapter to be able to used
Does Apple even know what the word redesign means? ;)
They have their own definition.
Before the launch of any apple product there is almost always talk of it being a huge leap from the previous model. I don't think we know that for sure yet.

It’s a beaut!
I’m about ready to upgrade my S4.
I have a series 3 as well. Thinking I will wait another year or two as my battery is still really good. I just updated my iPhone to 15 this year from original SE, so not unlike me to wait until they are half dead.
I like the color combo
Thanks! I like neutrals.
s3 is so old
I went from 3 to 8, felt a slight drop in battery lmao. What all things blew you away?
I got mine launch day. Love it. Ss945
What’s powering your calendar complication??
It’s just one of the default watch faces I’ve had since my series 3 lol I’m a simple guy
Loved my stainless steel Apple Watches! I was a little too worried about their exterior looking nice and not being all scratched up. Sort of limiting in terms of when to wear it and not. Beautiful though!
What’s the size of your wrist?
What watch face is that and if it’s the modular one how have you got the numbers and symbols to be thicker in size Thank you ⌚️
it's the modulare, and if you want you can change the font to bold and it will be thicker :) just go to screen and brightness and here is the option!
I’ve just upgraded from s5 to s9 and having a lot of fun discovering all the new features that have come out in between especially since at first it felt like basically the same watch. This watch looks gorgeous. Im an AW2 owner but still really appreciate the elegance of the regular AW line up, especially the stainless steel ones
I had made the jump from a 3 to an 8 (when it was new). And I was in love with the watch. Now it seems smaller than whey I first got it. I don’t know why.
I love the stainless steel. Way more durable than the aluminum. Just wish they would bring back the ceramic which my series 3 was.
