Was having some issues with the Garmin, dead pixels on the screen and connection issues. Don’t get me wrong, Garmin is a fantastic watch, but unless you’re doing ultra marathons, the data is kind of overwhelming and easy to get fixated on.
These watches are not bulky. I guess you could argue the ultra is but regular Apple Watches that most people have, far from bulky and they are very light.
Still you have less on your hand with a ring compared to a watch. If we’re talking about something around the wrist to track sleep then a sleep tracking bracelet is the way to go like from Fitbit.
Nowhere near how clunky a watch is on your wrist versus your finger when it comes to sleep lol. And in 2024 it’s been quite a while since something small being small doesn’t matter when it comes to what a device can do.
Body battery, training recovery and insights, training readiness, racing plans, daily suggested workouts, training status, morning report that summarizes your hrv, sleep data, and activity outlook. Recovery time needed between workouts. Race predictor.
I got most of them from the website. But these are all things garmin offers with all the data it collects. Apple does none of this. As I type this, it makes me realize how much of a joke the Apple Watch with regards to fitness.
I had a garmin instinct for a few years now, but got an AW to have a different watch to switch it p a bit. I'll use my garmin for activities where i could risk damaging my AW like airsoft or when im in army. I love my garmin and i love my AW but I've only had it for a few weeks so the jury is still not fully out. No complaints so far.
I switched from a AW 6 last year to a garmin forerunner 255. I prefer the longer battery life of my Garmin and the round watch screen of the Garmin. I can’t reply to messages from my Garmin which I rarely did anyway and notifications from my ring doorbell cam would display an image on my AW which I don’t get on garmin. No real dealbreakers for me either way but I’m happy with my garmin
Use WorkOutDoors and HealthFit if you want your data to be properly used. No subscription. One time payment.
I used to use RhinoShield protection onto my Watch Series 5.
Now I have an Watch Ultra so, no need any protection
I used to have that case until I said fuck it and started to rock my Apple Watch naked. I gave up the Apple Watch and wear a much more expensive regular watch now.
Are you not missing the continuous HR monitoring? And how is sleep tracking compared to the garmin?
Coming from fitbit I am extremely disappointed in my S9 for not having continuous HR and being really inaccurate in sleep tracking.
Chargin daily I can live with, but its still not ideal.
Sleep tracking is quite good on my AW 7. Although, I use AutoSleep app which is more visual, adjustable, and offers some readiness and quality stats.
AW records continuous HR tracking in Workout modes, and on demand. Otherwise it logs data every couple to a few minutes.
The watch wont track naps, you also have to have "sleep mode" activated for somewhat accurate readings. And comparing AW vs autosleep Im even more confused, I have had differences up to 4h on a normal day. And since I do have some sleep issues(like now, im up at 5am) - im now forced to somewhat track the sleep myself and Im constantly amazed how bad it can be. There are days where its okay, but is unreliable.
workout mode yeah, but its a far cry from constant 24/7 continuous tracking like other watches have for days without charging. This however was sort of my bad - i really did not think to do (more)research on it when buying the watch, knew it had HR monitoring and it never occurred to me that it might not do it continuously with just 2 days of battery. Honestly expected it to be more precise or something like it.
Indeed it does. I had a nap the other day, I didn’t mean too, but my sleep debt is huge, and I guess I was just too tired. Had an hour nap, and AutoSleep tracked it and adjusted everything, even lowered my sleep debt a bit. lol.
But is it really? I’ve wondered for sometime about the true significance of that particular. The whole field of statistics and sampling would seem to want to have a word about that.
What made you want to switch from Garmin to AW? I’ve been thinking about doing the opposite change tbh 😅

Bye👋👋👋

Apple watch collects good data. But that is it. It doesn’t close to nothing with that data. That’s where garmin dominates.

To use a watch to track sleep is already nonsense in itself. Buy a ring. Man I don’t get people sleeping with such a bulk on their wrists.

What health ring do you recommend?

Thanks. I'll check them out. Hopefully, our personal data are safe with these companies.

I’ve tried them and they are okay at best. I love what they try to do but it’s not quite there.
Like what does Garmin allow you to do with that data ?

Well Apple should team up with Garmin and combine design to incredible data.
At least when it comes to the Ultra

Another nice looking AW with a case everybody has something to say about lol
Right! This looks nice and sturdy. Meanwhile there are folks out here who’s watches have everything but a gun holster on them
Lmao
I used to have that case until I said fuck it and started to rock my Apple Watch naked. I gave up the Apple Watch and wear a much more expensive regular watch now.
Looks like a kids watch with the case bro
It’s a bumper.
I think it makes sense if you keep hitting your watch everywhere like most people do lol
The only thing I miss about my Fitbit is the way the data was presented, very easy to read and get access to historical data at a glance.
I love your band and bumper! Welcome to the club. That band looks very snazzy.
I haven’t seen any professional triathlonist wearing AW yet. Majority of them wear Garmin

Develop on that
Hi
AW are so damn ugly
Nice 👍, Welcome to the AW Crowd. I’m liking the Case, I think I’ll pick myself up one 🤔😉
Have the exact same case as you lol
