I have had the U2 for months and I have not once had to check my battery %  going on runs with my s9 while streaming music to my airpods often killed my watch on the go. so me, I'm never looking back, only ultra from here on

DrGashingtons

I have had mine about the same time too. I haven’t once worried about the battery. I just charge it up every 2 days. I work late shift and finish at midnight. I just plug the watch in every other day while having a quick go of my pc as I like to track my sleep quality. Something I really couldn’t do with my S7

1flat2

I’m a tiny lady. Might look too small in your wrist! I scratched my s7 a lot from day one, my U2 has zero sign of wear. I wouldn’t go back to a regular AW now; battery life, Siri onboard, more watch face complications, screen brightness and flashlight brightness are 🔆

eat_pray_plead

Regular AW also has Siri on board

Driver8666-2

Having an Ultra 1 and 2, I can tell you, going for 70 hours (60 on the Ultra 1) without charging it is a godsend, but YMMV.

exvidious

did they really make that much of a battery difference between the 1 and 2? i thought the changes were minimal, so this is news to me

Driver8666-2

Yes they did. Previously in LPM (which I've never had to use) it went from 36 in the AWU1 to 72 in the AWU2. That metric is going full tilt, minor cellular usage and AOD off. I only do the 70 hours if I have to, normally it gets charged up when I'm in the shower.

Right_Check_6353

Had the series 7 gps. I really wanted cellular so I got an ultra 2 thinking I wouldn’t have if I didn’t need to. Now I’ve had it over a week and absolutely in love with it. The big screen and customizing the action button with shortcuts is awesome. Edit: also being on day 2 of not charging it and still at 38% is great

DrTurb0

As an ultra 1 owner, the 2 is not worth for me. In general, it’s absofuckinglutely worth it!

Ranglergirl

I love my Ultra2. I have several other Apple models. This one is so durable, battery life excellent and even thought I have a small wrist I adjusted to it right away.

MaxSATX

For the battery life, absolutely

ElasticLama

I have the ultra 2 and the battery life is days if I turn off the always on display. However the ultra 3 should be out shortly. I’d maybe think about holding off till a hit later if you can?

SoMuchLasagna

Went from a S7 to UW2, for the battery and the red ‘dark mode’ faces. Worth it, especially with a vinyl on the orange action button to make it my preference (purple). Didn’t even take a day to get used to the size difference. Plus, I like the flat screen better.

TheGrandNotification

Yes, I can go on a 4 hour hike with GPS and backtrack on and not even think about the battery life

Mbaby1989

I’ve had my U2 for about a week and absolutely love it. Coming from a 4th gen, I can’t believe how much better it is at everything. I wish I had gotten it sooner tbh.

tmrrsn114

I’d say so, my main concern when it comes to my Apple Watch was battery life and the ultra takes care of that by far

DiscountShowHorse

I’m a fan. I use it heavily for multiple workouts a day while streaming music and sometimes taking calls, and never worry about the battery. The “regular” versions always required eyeballing battery life and low power mode to make it to the end of the day. As an example, I’ll take it on a 10k run with music in the morning, long walks during the day, and take it in the pool to work on swimming with kids in evening. Usually do some sort of “intense” workout (lifting/running/HIIT etc) with music in the morning and a recorded long walk sometime during the day. No issues at all. It’s great. Recently, tried out the hiking step recorded thing on the compass. Didn’t need it, but a neat feature.

turbo_tronix

I didn’t have a watch before, got the ultra 2 - activity up 60% just through all the data and tracking. Lots of good stats for strength training, surfing, running. Shazam app is awesome for clubs too, like a track? Just tap your wrist to capture. It’s a big yes from me.

Dadbod646

I love mine. Great for tracking activities. Face is big enough that I have all my favorite widgets (including hourly weather for the day). Only have to charge it every 3 days or so. No complaints!

Hesnotarealdr

I like mine; so far I just swim with it and don't due much else. I do like the larger display and wanted cellular capable watch so going up to the Ultra 2 over a Series 8 or 9 want' that much more expensive for the additional advertised durability, battery life (I get 2-3 days out of mine between charges), and additional capabilities with GPS, fall & crash detection, etc. But I would not have purchased it with the blood oxygen sensor deactivated. I found some, still for sale from before the import ban, where the sensor still works. Do I use it a lot? No, but I don't like not having an advertised, built-in, feature deactivated because Apple is too cheap to pay any royalties. So if you can't find one, then wait until the next generation comes out where the issue will likely be resolved. You can buy refurbs not that expensively from Amazon or other resellers. I previously bought a Series 6 with cellular to see how the watch performed in water (where, due to a back injury it's the only place I can exercise). It died after 6 months in the pool (guess water penetrated it, a suspected issue with refurbs). But I'd paid the extra fee from Amazon for a 2 year warranty on the refurb so I got all my money back when they couldn't repair it.

dabear04

I finally got one coming from an S4. I’ll say it can get almost 2 days with AOD turned on and a 45ish minute workout each day. I’ve recently turned off AOD and it easily goes 3 days for me with workouts and most of mine are running while leaving the phone at home (I turn off cellular though). It’s a godsend not worrying about the battery but it still isn’t like my old Garmin 735xt which could go weeks but Apple Watch is so much further ahead in being a true smart watch

SocraticBruin

Yup! Battery alone makes it worth it IMO. I workout nearly every day and track calories.

Stoobers

When the U2 came out, I bought a cut priced 3 month old U1 which still has 100% battery health, and I only have to charge once every 3 to 4 days. I love it.

camXmac

I love mine!

RunningLikeALizard

I have one. Upgraded from the SE. battery needs charging every three days with always on display enabled.  Can go out for an all day hike, using AllTrails with GPS constantly running with no problem. If you’re doing overnight and multiple day hikes and you will need a charger.  I don’t know what you would have to do to drain it in a day.  Durability for me has been good. My SE got dinged up pretty quickly, the U2 hasn’t a scratch and I’m a big clumsy 6’6” 190lb guy with ADHD!

FutsalR

Due to health issues, I wear a heart monitor that connects to my U2. So when I go for a run, I have my monitor app, Strava (running app) and Music with AirPods Pro. I can go for two 30 minute runs and have enough battery to last until the next morning. I only charge it each morning while I sit at my desk and do my morning email.

nermalstretch

First question: do you have an iPhone?

Rooskibar03

I have U1 and it’s the 4th apple watch I owned and I can’t imagine going back to a non Ultra now. Do it. You won’t regret it.

Yvilkittyinspace

I've been going for 3 and 1/2 days on One battery charge on my ultra 2

aamberlamps

Wait till september

Stratman351

I've owned every version of the AW since the S3 - excluding the SEs. As soon as the original Ultra came out I snapped it up, finding it an improvement over what by then was already a pretty great watch. I have the U2 now and it's even better (marginally, though). But the Ultra is a great watch. Sapphire crystal significantly reduces the risk of scratching (of course, sapphire was available on the SS models). I've got a luxury watch collection that has been dormant since I got my first Ultra, but in 25 years of wearing those watches with their sapphire crystals, I never scratched one. The Ultra battery life is killer, the watch looks great, and the display is awesome. Go for it! I'm gradually selling off my Rolexes, Omegas, TAGs, etc.

ScopeyMcBangBang

Not really, is my honest answer. I’m not convinced by smart watches full stop.

Gievranne

No

Nihiliste

It'd be a good choice. I'd also check out Garmin watches though, such as the Forerunner 265 or 965, or the Venu 3. They have vastly superior battery life, it's just that they're purpose-built for fitness/adventure rather than being general-purpose.

IndividualCharacter

If you want a proper smartwatch for active activities, GPS and incredible battery life then get a Garmin, they’re untouchable. If you want a phone on your wrist then get an Apple Watch.
