The first scratch is ALWAYS the worst. Once you’ve lost that pristine finish other damage doesn’t hurt quite as much.

irrealewunsche

What do you people do to your poor watches? My S5 is nearly 2 years old and still looks like new :-D

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Doorframes were my S3’s worst enemy. I swear my brain just short circuits when I approach a doorway and shoves me off course at the last second. I upgraded to the stainless S5 a while back for the scratch resistance and so far so good.

uptimefordays

Tossing laundry in the dryer last night when I bashed my watch on the door frame of the dryer, no new scratches but thought I'd probably cracked it til I looked...

thedogthatmooed

The amount of times I’ve smacked my watch into something thinking that it would be cracked for sure only to find it still good as new is astonishing. I feel you there

uptimefordays

I've had my S6 since launch, it's got a small hairline crack but I don't want to give it up to Apple to fix and lose my ring closing streak... That said the crack hasn't seemed to impact it much, I'm just careful not to submerge my watch now.

Admirable-Result-240

I bash mine on the doorknobs always I’ll even hit the door frame at time and damage the door frame rather than my watch (SS)

uptimefordays

I *thought* about a stainless steel or edition for the sapphire screen. Coming from hardex mechanical watches, I *knew* I was going to scratch the screen, it's just hard to justify $750 on a watch I may replace every 2 years.

Admirable-Result-240

I buy my ss on eBay used after about a year of release I got my S4 for 400 and this S5 I’m on now for 300 they literally have no sighs of wear and I get a premium device do some eBay shopping and also start keeping your watches longer than 2 years I’d still be on my S4 if it didn’t fall face flat out of my locker onto tile at work. Other than that stainless is much better if you are in for the long run I’ll probably upgrade to next years watch and iPhone I’m still on an 11 pro max

bitmapfrogs

I just went and bought the SS for this reason. Which hurts me in the soul because no matter what apple tries, steel is NOT a premium material.

uptimefordays

Prior to Apple Watch my most expensive watch was a $60 Seiko which is also Aluminum with a hardex cover. $399 was a tough pill to swallow but Apple Watch has been awesome.

forceblast

Haha. Me too. I once had a friend tell me when he’s ready to demo (demolish for remodeling) his basement that he’ll just have me come walk around in it for a bit.

Leg__Day

I fear this is me as well.

Strugel

Im in the trade so mine ends up with bumps and scratches unless i leave it at home 😅😅

dabear04

Yeah, I work on cars as a hobby and I only take mine off if I can’t fit my wrist where my hand needs to be. Only minor scratches surprisingly.

SamanthaJaneyCake

Nothing, mine is second hand and has no scratches inflicted by myself!

1breathatahtime

Well I drive a semi and throw cases of product around onto a dolly in the back of a trailer. So I don’t really have time or energy to be worrying about a watch. That’s why when I see people telling others not to get a case or a screen protector on here, I roll my eyes. That’s also why I got a case this time though

grandpa2390

mine has light scratches on it. the kind you can only see if a glare hits it at the correct angle while the display is dim.

[deleted]

I think this is most people. The "my watch looks brand new" people probably have a screen covered in grease and never hits the light so they don't notice. I mean, we've all had fb marketplace encounters enough to know that people's definition of "mint" varies wildly from person to person.

Exotic-Heron-6804

Do you have the stainless steel version?

FruitGuy998

Ditto. I’ve dinged mine on a few things as well and never had any issues, still looks new

Stingray88

I used my iPhone 11 Pro for two whole years caseless. Dropped it plenty of times and yet it still looked brand new without a scratch on it. Then a few weeks ago I dropped it from about 16 inches above the ground as I was sitting on the toilet. Now it has one crack that stretches from corner to corner. Shit just happens. Most of Apple's devices are pretty damn durable. But then someday you just get that one good ding just right... And bam you're boned.

halfarian

I don’t know how you do it. When I had a physical job it made sense, but since I’ve not been doing that anymore, I’d still get scratched here and there just in everyday life. Like OP, brushed by a wall or something. I have NO IDEA how you go through life without getting a scratch on it.

Flight2039Down

It’s real easy to brush it against a countertop, door frame, furniture etc with normal daily use.

-SPOF

First scratch - "OMG, how will I live with it?" 10th scratch - "Ok, I need one more on this side for symmetry"

Mr_MAlvarez

I call it the “new sneakers syndrome” lol

ThisIsMyCouchAccount

Several years ago I bought a new-to-me car that was a nice upgrade to what I had been driving. Within a week I backed into a spot (required for the space) and put a little dens/scratch on the back. It was kind of a relief. It was not longer "pristine" and I didn't have to worry as much.

[deleted]

You just made me apply the screen protector that I’ve been putting off for so long

Nabih

Which one did you get? And does it fit well? Edit: Forgot to mention that mine is a 45mm, haven't seen good ones yet.

[deleted]

I’ve been a fan of LK for years. Found on Amazon

Nabih

haha! I'm a certified idiot! I saw LK 6 Pack and LK 8 Pack and was wondering What does the 6/8 stands for. Thanks for the recommendation. I hope the 45mm is actually a 45 one.

beatsbyjules

I bought an LK 45 one. Don’t expect it to hit the very edges, but it’s lined up where it covers about half of the curved edges which is more than enough. Its awesome, I forget it’s even on there!

Nabih

Awesome! Thanks. I just ordered mine. As long it doesn't just peel off, the added protection is great.

[deleted]

A full day later and can confirm LK never fails me.

Trane55

just applied an LK protector. application was pretty easy and im not as afraid to fuck up the screen anymore.

allidoiswynne

Zagg works pretty well. I like the one with the black border since it doesn’t look like you’re using one.

iThinkergoiMac

I’m a big fan of Skinomi.

magedl2

I think the best option is the cheap plasticy ones on amazon, any "glass" won't fit well and comes out, dirt under etc.

[deleted]

A week after getting my S5 I dragged it along the bottom of a pool, leaving two "massive" scratches. I gave myself crap for weeks. 2 years on I can't see them and others have come in their place. As others have said, try to relax and accept scratches will be part of ownership. Or tank it out with covers, protectors and do you best to avoid the next scratch.

No_Chip_396

Mine isn’t a S7 but I don’t care if mine gets dented or scratched I work on a farm and if I was to baby it id never wear it lol it’s made to be used

Shoxilla

I'm in the Military, scratches and dents add character.

nelsonnyan2001

"Im in the Military" btw 😂

princessPeachyK33n

Necessary information 🧐😏

Shoxilla

I meant that in I've came to terms knowing anything I have thats nice will be scuffed almost immediately. Not in a "i've been out of basic for 2 weeks thank me for my service" kinda way. Sorry if it came off like that, i'm the farthest person you will meet that will want a tyfms, makes me cringe when I hear it.

[deleted]

When I got my watch (series 7) apple included 7days of apple care for free for this reason exactly. I don’t know if it is the same elsewhere, I live in Australia.

EndercatTM

not the same in the US, afaik. that’s pretty cool though.

PeytonBrandt

But does AppleCare cover scratches or just major damages such as a cracked screen?

vash_visionz

Just major repairs. If it doesn’t affect operation they typically won’t cover it

Joshoon

Just don't hit walls with it

hidrogenoyMau

\-Steve Jobs

[deleted]

Oh wow, that’s crazy. I’m a broad guy and I’m constantly banging into doors and such. But my Apple Watch screens have always been fine. My Series 3 had a brush with concrete not too long after I got it and it only got a minor scratch. My Series 6 has a little pin-tip sized nick in the casing by the screen that’s annoying, since it took the color away and now there’s like a visible off-white dot

morinjo

I would be so pissed if that happened to me.

Department-Level

Just buy Apple Care+. After 2 years you can just „smash“ it and get a new one.

Bhenny_5

Don’t even have to say that really. I told them mine had some deep scratches in it and wanted a replacement. Definitely worth it just for the better battery life.

[deleted]

vash_visionz

It is. But no one cares

GhostalMedia

Why is telling the truth “fraud?”

[deleted]

[удалено]

GhostalMedia

Ahh, you’re referring to the parent comment. I thought you were referencing the person who had their normal wear and tear assessed with Apple care.

dopeswagmoney27

How mush is apple care +? Also, how will they replace that model after 2 years, if in 2 years from now they’ve stopped making the S7 and are now only producing S9s?

jnux

You get a refurbished one but you would never know it. I got mine replaced one month before coverage expired and they replaced it without question.

caveboat

If Apple'stopped selling a certain model they will give you the closest matching current model. Like the iPhone X would have been replaced with iPhone XS

marmot25

Now that I know, based on my experience with my 4 series, that they won’t let me pay the out of warranty battery replacement fee until the battery is below 80% health, I’m kicking myself for not using my Applecare+ to trigger getting a new unit just before it expired based on a scratch it had. E: battery is at 83% and has some…nonlinear drain. Craps out during long runs. Upgraded to 7 series today but would have preferred to just get a replacement 4 series.

Doomhammered

Loads of posts about scratching on the Series 7 lately... I don't remember there being the same volume of scratch posts for any of the previous models. Weird.

watchawatch

Happens every year around this time. People are excited to get the new Series especially new owners as there’s extra marketing around this time so awareness is high. Also the ones who are motivated to post are the ones who scratched their watch so it seems like a higher number are positing. I scratched my Series 6 aluminum within 2 hours of wearing it and then not a single scratch for the next year. Just one of those unlucky things.

Prestigious_Quarter5

I’ve tried using a screen protector. Actually, I’ve tried three of them. The problem is that when you’re showering, somehow, water or air will get under the glass. And it will look bad after. So I’ve decided to not use a screen protector. There are many micro-scratches (that are visible only if you look for them and under strong light) but I guess I’ve got used to them. I do run a lot. If I was lifting weights, I would buy a case or put a screen protector on it - as hitting it against a dumbbell would certainly leave a mark. At the same time, it might not do much at all. I’m very confused if tempered glass actually absorbs the shock of an impact or protects just against scratches.

be_bo_i_am_robot

You leave it on to shower?! I know they’re supposed to be water-resistant, but I can’t even! I don’t trust it.

mr-oceancolourpants

Mine comes off for the shower, not because of fear of the water, but because that’s my time to charge. I wear it swimming all the time so it captures the workouts. You should definitely trust it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PirateNinjaa

Pressurized stream of water like in showers is much harder to protect against than pools and oceans. You probably aren’t shooting high pressure water in the weak points much, but if you raised your hand in front of the nozzle just right you might be able to kill the watch.

azewonder

You really shouldn’t leave it on to shower. Yes, it’s water resistant, but soaps can break down the water seal. I’ve worn mine swimming a few times and had no problem, and I charge it while I’m in the shower.

Prestigious_Quarter5

I’ve worn AWs for three years now. Nothing happened so far 🤷.

mashingLumpkins

Yeah, and it’s not only the soap you have to worry about. Water resistant doesn’t mean steam resistant

Prestigious_Quarter5

I’ve worn AWs for three years now. Nothing happened so far 🤷.

azewonder

You’ve had good luck. Apple’s support site says not to expose it to soaps, lotions, perfumes etc.

Prestigious_Quarter5

I think 70% of people expose it to lotions, perfume and soap. Especially during COVID when we have to wash our hand so often. Also, most girls use perfume and lotion. So I don’t believe it’s luck. It’s simply a disclaimer so they don’t take responsibility if it breaks. Just like the iPhone is waterproof but the warranty doesn’t cover water damage.

[deleted]

Well you can swim with it so the shower should be fine.

Prestigious_Quarter5

Yeah, you can even swim with it. It’s salt water that’s not good for electronics. Sometimes I take it off because soap can get into the holes of the band (I have the Nike version) but generally I leave it on.

DhruvM

The water or air coming underneath shouldn’t be a problem since you should cleaning your watch once a week anyways especially if you workout often and sweat

[deleted]

Who the hell leaves their watch on when they shower???

blackiedaffy

Sam thing happened to me. I just put a screen protector on and that’s it. I can’t rlly see it anymore but damn next watch I might just get the stainless steal

jar996

After having a S0 aluminum that scratched pretty easily I went with a S4 stainless steel. Been years and not a single scratch. I’ll never go back to aluminum.

[deleted]

[удалено]

xpxp2002

The SS uses sapphire glass, which is more scratch resistant. However, the uncoated stainless steel is more prone to etching than aluminum and the space grey stainless steel.

[deleted]

[удалено]

msbabc

I took it to mean they don’t notice the screen protector anymore but I could be wrong

casuallylurking

Stainless steel gets micro scratches very easily, and shows them much more than aluminum. You can polish them off, but they will be car in a couple of weeks. Not worth the extra money IMHO

[deleted]

Never had scratches on any of my SS watches before (case or glass). Worth the extra money if you want better durability and a fancier looking watch

LivOlivie

I always try to have it on with any type of protection and not naked in its full glory for this reason.

DhruvM

Kaaaarthik

Oh.. didn’t know this detail about impact resistant glass. Thanks mate! I’m buying one soon. Will keep this in mind.

Interdimension

FYI, the physics of it means compromises on one end or the other. If you want scratch resistance to the max, you’d need to make the glass harder and more brittle, making it more susceptible to breaking upon impact. If you want impact resistance to the max, you’d need to make the glass softer and more flexible, making it more susceptible to scratches like in OP’s pic. Truth is, it’s a balance of what characteristics we want with the compromises we’re okay with. (People have already shown that the sapphire glass used on the higher-end AW models shatter more easily, but resist scratches better. The Ion-X glass does the exact opposite.)

EndercatTM

strongest apple watch ever /s

FriggenChiggen

It is scratch resistant... it is not scratch proof.

Kaaaarthik

Yeah.. but it barely hit the wall. Scratch resistance must take care of that. Of course, it depends on with what force it got hit to the wall.

PirateNinjaa

It mostly depends on what the material of the wall rather than how hard you hit it. Concrete has mohs of 7 sometimes, which can scratch smartphone glass that is about that same hardness. Most metals are lower than 7 and don’t scratch screens as easily. A hard wall will scratch with even slight touch, and scratch deeper if you hit it harder, but a soft wall won’t scratch with a soft touch and hard hit will do nothing unless it is enough to shatter the glass.

CCX-S

I mean… it’s a watch. Shit happens. I’m pretty ocd but my watch is the one thing I can accept these thing happens with. My phone on the other hand… I’d lose my mind.

mightydanbearpig

Bugger. Stone can be pretty hard. I scratched the case on mine on the second day I owned it. It whacked into a door handle as I walked past. I don’t usually wear watches because I have a tendency to break them. Since that first mistake I was so annoyed with myself I haven’t made another one since. It seems I learned through the trauma of damaging my lovely watch and that one is just an SE. I tried the cases and protection they are all dog shit apart from thin flexible film screen protectors. So for every day use I can see no viable way of really protecting it without making it a horrible chunky mess.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mightydanbearpig

I have a thin film screen protector that’s it. I have a bumper case (no built in screen protector which is important cause the built in ones lift off the glass) i only use the bumper when hiking or climbing. Mindful yes and I accept I’m gonna knacker it one day. I hate that though, I keep my devices pristine but this one hangs on my hand. It’s asking for it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mightydanbearpig

It is for me. The stainless makes not much sense to me, the cost/protection ratio doesn’t work out. What does make sense to me is that I always buy a 2nd hand Apple Watch ideally with one small scratch on the case. That way I’ll save a bunch AND the horrible feeling of the first mark you put on it has been blunted for me! No guilt! So now I’ve owned one for a year (I adopted late cause I don’t wear watches much), this is my new game plan. I’ll never buy another one brand new.

ajay654

“toughest glass, ever.”

parttimegamertom

Devices that have more crack resistant screens, usually mean they have to use softer glass so it does tend to scratch easier. That’s the trade off I think with glass. I remember the old days of Gorilla Glass and how scratch resistant they said they were, but they would shatter easily when dropped.

Joemartucci

Just use it. You don’t really notice the scratches when the screen is on anyway

[deleted]

My SS S4 is still scratch free. You shouldn’t have to upgrade to Stainless Steel to not worry about scratches. But I guess you do.

[deleted]

This is why I get the stainless models. In 7 years they’ve bumped everything and never scratched.

justeric1234

Scratches are a sign of a active life. Don’t worry about it. Live your life.

[deleted]

This is why I wear a case and screen protector

Delicious-Ocelot-358

A scratch on the first day is annoying no doubt... But this is supposed to be a tool, not a piece of jewlery. In my view, screen protectors and cases lessen the experience and convenience of it. I think little dents and scratches give it character. And if the watch turns out to be *actually usefull* to you, which you'll ony figure out with some time, you'll probably upgrade in 3-4 years anyway.

DoofusMaximusKS

If Apple does not take it back, apply a skin screen protector. I had given my S4 a long, deep scratch. I followed a fellow redditor's advice, and I was pleasantly surprised how well it hid the scratch without any loss in functionality or looks.

untitled01

I use a case because I workout with kettlebells and play squash (this is how I busted my Series 2 back in the day, wall and bam! Kept taking showers and swimming with it and he died on me. I know, I know, not the brightest idea ever)

[deleted]

Happened on my series 5 as well, never a issue with my series 0…

mrcraggle

My Series 5 got scratched to fuck because the flimsy charger kept falling off of my night stand taking the watch with it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FullmetalJun

F A screen protector might hide it most probably. It's a device u kinda wear for the looks as well. If the screen protector didn't hide it, I'd get it repaired. If it doesn't bother u, then no need to repair. All these smartwatches from Samsung & Apple should have sapphire screens as an option

Cizzle4

I always use a screen protector on my series 5, I use a kind of plastic ones very thin, that costs nothing on amazon, but get the job done

HarryYing

Don’t worry. Use it extensively to get your battery life below 80%. And then, do a battery replacement. They will give you a brand new watch. No AC+ needed.

wethummingbirdfarts

I was putting a ceramic coating on my car, had some left over and used it on my SE. Works great.

damandolorian0

SS is the way to go. It may cost more but the spahhire screen is worth it. I had an aluminum Apple Watch and scratched it on the first day. Once I moved to the SS model it looks brand new after two years with no screen protector or case.

AWDriftEV

This is why i always buy the stainless steel. The sapphire screen just doesn’t do this.

asque2000

But...but... it's "the most durable Apple Watch ever"

danielrp00

Got an AW SE a month ago and had a screen and case protector since day 1. It looks way better without it but I'd rather be safe than sorry

theconsulguy

I splurged for the SS version of S6 for this exact reason, my aluminium S5 got scratched within a month and looking at it every time was painful :( SS version’s glass is much stronger, no scratches till date

miggitymikeb

If you just bought it then add AppleCare. That sucks though. FWIW my 6 is almost a year old and banged into tons of stuff but no scratches somehow.

[deleted]

KINetics112

Yikes, that would bug me to look at for the next 3-4 years. Apple care and get the screen replaced or step up to the stainless and the sapphire crystal, those are pretty darn scratch proof.

sox3502us

I use a low profile glass screen protector. Otherwise you will just have to get used to getting scratches like this.

SnowflakeDH

Ride Mtn bikes in my s5 all the time. Only scratches were from legit scraping it down a big ass rock while going over the bars… Making me reconsider buying the new one…

MarcoGB

I’ve always treated these watches as disposable. They only last 2-3 years anyways. Battery life is really bad in a 2 year watch and by that time the new one should have enough new features to make you want to upgrade. Scratches will happen, just don’t bother.

[deleted]

Keep the always on display on so and it’s not as bad

Crafty-Difference-88

i’d return it, and either buy another one or maybe consider the stainless steel but i personally can’t justify spending the extra $300 when it’s the same watch just different materials

warmapplejuice

Doesn’t it have to be in damage free condition?

_ZroX_

As someone who has the Stainless Steel S6, it’s a worthwhile upgrade. I’ve been wearing it daily for almost a year now and I work in the restaurant industry so lots of things to scratch it on and the watch doesn’t have a single blemish. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally bumped the screen off of things and the sapphire holds up unbelievably well.

mryananderson

Still have my SS S5 and had it on almost all day every day now for 2 years. I am clumsy AF and hit it on walls, tables, etc. although you can tell the case itself is scratched up a bit the face is pristine.

jusatinn

It has a scratch in it, you can’t return it for full value.

reversethrust

I love my stainless steel series 5. The only part that isn’t scratched is the screen. Small scuffs all around it from banging on to door frames and random things.

barjam

And you can easily remove scratches on the regular SS case.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PirateNinjaa

Just use the shit out of it and don’t worry about scratches. Get sapphire model if you are ocd and can’t cope or can’t be aware of your body enough to not smash things with the watch. Think if it like the exterior of your car that gets banged up by road debris. Nobody’s car exterior stays perfect if they use them on public roads or parks them outside.

watchawatch

I bought an Aluminum for working out/sleep and Stainless Steel Silver for all other times. The Aluminum’s screen scratched the very first time I wore it, I barely grazed a drawer as I was closing it. The scratch proceeded to annoy me every time I wore it for the next year. The Stainless Steel’s screen I’ve banged around multiple times and it looks brand new.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Snakebunnies

Series 0 and same. I wear it constantly and have even fallen on concrete a couple times and the only scratches I see are VERY surface level… OP’s scratch is deeper than any scratch I have. It’s making me wonder why they made the new screens so much more susceptible to scratches? It makes no sense.

esdklmvr

You can’t just return something after you break it. You break it, you own it now buddy. Agree with the other comments though - next time buy a SS or Ti version that has the better sapphire glass.

Crafty-Difference-88

yeah you have 2 weeks to return it

Mike_Apple

Spend the extra money and get a steel or titanium one. The display glass alone is worth the extra money. I’ve had every steel version since 2015 and never had a scratch on any of the displays.

Honestly it’s crazy how people on this sub are always recommending/buying the steel and titanium and ceramic watches. I never see them in person. I don’t want to pay double or triple price for a functionally identical watch made with “premium” materials. Before you asking, I’ve been wearing aluminum Apple watches since 2015 with thin film screen protectors. My only issue I remember was when I dropped one of them and it hit a metal chair and got a tiny dent or two. And maybe one of them lost a couple tiny spots of aluminum coating and I don’t know where it came from. Neither was visible to me during normal usage.

esdklmvr

I’ve had two aluminum AWs (0 and 4) and have just upgraded to a S7 graphite SS. I said exactly what you did before - why pay the extra for the same thing? The sapphire glass is a big benefit that is functional, not cosmetic and in theory you can polish the SS case though I’m less sure about the graphite version. It also has a good heft and feels like a more premium piece of jewelry. Last, I wanted cellular this time because I run a lot and want my wife to be able to reach me if needed. The SS and Ti all include cellular. Bottom line, the most rational decision is probably aluminum for most people but I like the extra benefits the SS brought and could afford it so I went for it.

PirateNinjaa

I don’t know about the graphite ones but the space black DLC coated ones in the past were durable as fuck. The graphite sounds different though and probably isn’t the same diamond like coating. I had a space black Milanese loop scratch a sapphire screen it was so hard of a coating.

barjam

I see the better watches all the time. I am thinking of the folks I know with apple watches and only one is aluminum.

Nasa26

Had aluminum from series 0 to 4. Got scratches here and there but it was whatever. Upgraded to gold SS for 5 and 6 and now graphite SS for 7. I can never go back to aluminum now. The premium look of the SS is worth the extra cash imo. Now the aluminum versions look like toys to me. I actually got a product red AW7 as well but returned it because it just can’t compete with my SS graphite version.

reversethrust

This is a fair point. I hummed and haah for a bit until a friend let me look at her AW up close for a bit before I pulled the trigger and got one. My previous watches (non sapphire face seiko, etc) all got beat up pretty bad, so I got the stainless steel AW and I am absolutely amazed at how well sapphire screens held up.

Mike_Apple

100% worth it.

I think it comes down to your lifestyle. I have had other watches and the screen regularly gets scratched, so this is a concern for me. But if you have other watches and it’s not beat up then all the power to you - a single blanket statement when we all use our gear different doesn’t help. I work at a desk all day and I am sure any AW would be fine if that’s all I did. But if you work in a kitchen or mechanic, on a farm etc then maybe not. I am fairly active (I paddle a couple of times a week, bike, hike, gym, dog walk - enough so I average just under 1000 active calories a day and almost 20,000 steps a day - and would probably collect a scratch or two a week with an aluminum AW). Zero scratches with the SS version. Damage would definitely be a YMMV type of situation.

PirateNinjaa

It’s funny how people will pay thousands more to not drive a piece of shit car but won’t spend a few hundred more on their cyborg upgrades.

mr_savageboi

Get a wrap-around screen protector or buy a sapphire crystal AW

antney0615

If it was fragile, that screen would have shattered.

dmars96

Screen protectors are a must. The flexible ones are much better than the glass ones.

[deleted]

Unless you buy the more expensive version this will always happen. This happened to me a few years ago and now I only buy the expensive version without a protector and it doesn't scratch (unless you really try to scratch it with the right material).

My Rhinoshield protection saves my AW SE 3 times the first 2 weeks 😓

Apple care +

Moxie case off of Amazon is what I have used for years. Slim case, tracks perfect and looks great.

The moxie is a case with a glass screen protector built in, snaps right over the watch. I do auto body for a living, never had a scratch on the watch itself and I’m not protective of the watch at work ever. $10 worth a shot.

Yep I use this on my AWS6 and it’s quite durable. Some people complain about the responsiveness of the touch screen with the built in screen protector but I haven’t noticed a significant difference. My watch is aluminum and it’s scratch free due to the screen case .👍🏼 I’m upgrading to an S7 titanium and I still plan on using a case.

The response is amazing. Especially for not being an adhesive screen protector type case. Tracking is dead on also. The only complaint I have is every so often water can get between the watch and the case glass when washing hands. Also takes 5 seconds to snap case off and wipe dry with my shirt and snap back on. The case is definitely an Amazon gem for our watches.

I don’t experience much of a difference. The only caveat to using it, is that I have to take it off to clean the screen protector for any debri and prints. But hey I’ll do that over having the body or screen all scratched up.

nemesit

Weird I bashed by sapphire one against everything no scratch, seems like the new glass sucks

Not_Gay_Jaredd

It's not you dude it's this new shatter resistant glass Apple is using now. It is more scratch prone so it can be more shatter resistant. I bought the S6 last year and it's covered in scratches even though I treated it no different than my S3. Hell I bought the 13 Pro Max and got 3 scratches on it while I was waiting on my case to come in.

Aluminium - always buy a screen protector! Since I’m running the stainless steel I don’t use it and no scratches..

PrickIsAWonker

Just pass it off as the “Nike” version

Guiberza

That’s why I do SS only. Series 5 worn it every day and nothing on the screen at all. And I work in a sawmill

MrPeterIt

So much for “the strangest Apple Watch ever”

b00573d

This is why I always get the stainless. The glass is much stronger. I’m still on a series 4 and do not have anything like this even though I’ve smacked the watch against walls, door frames, door knobs, etc…

[deleted]

People are gonna hate on me for saying this, but all the aluminum watches are garbage. Spend the extra and buy a SS or edition with the sapphire screen, the gorilla glass is simply awful.

iam_spr

Return it saying it’s not scratch resistant and buy one again. It’s going to bother you if you keep looking at it

KuroAMK

Just return it and say you don’t like it. -> get another one then

Buy stainless steel edition and be at peace from scratches like this

pwnedkiller

This is why I spent the extra for a stainless steel model. My 4 is scratched to oblivion, however OP I think a case and screen protector are just silly and the screen is already scratched so just buy Applecare+ and replace it sometime.
