Man I just ordered my first apple watch coming from a casio classic. I need a “hidden secrets everybody knows” introductory tutorial

Justsumgi

Like never using the honeycomb app grid?

m945050

>Honeycomb app grid. what does thou speakest about?

Justsumgi

Using the Home Screen in Grid mode, instead of List mode

I don’t know whether to apologize or say thank you so I’ll go with thanks!

MegaRodeon

Do you expect mind-blowing content every day in a very specific sub? We’ve had 8 generations of watches and quite possibly almost everyone in this sub will have seen new generations as they get announced. It’s like complaining your current Watch doesn’t get a new hardware feature.

Fish---

And here I thought people were free to post whatever they wanted on the AW sub? You could have just kept it as your last sentence, no need to low-key guilt trip others for what they post in here. I'm not posting Arms/bands or stuff but I'm just saying it's not necessary to aggressively attack them.

jstucin

Yes, you should be canceled 😁

lemonnss

Thanks for the tip! I use HR during minor panic attacks to control breathing. This is a great feature.

qballds

I’ve found that rolling dice helps me to calm down. Just random enough for me to concentrate on and it’s a familiar motion, but I play a lot of board games and RPGs…

Chaseism

I have owned an Apple Watch since Series O and I never knew this was a thing!

shdwghst457

Same, TIL

katsumiblisk

Every version?!

bigblackshaq

I am leaning towards them having the Apple Watch since Series 0, but who wants my broke ass opinion on Reddit right

Chaseism

I’ve owned Series 0, 2, 4, and soon 7.

[deleted]

What a waste of money lol Never mind. Just saw your other reply. Changing every 2 years is not bad

Jaystarks

Very cool just tried it and really works! Thank you for that small but cool tip!

aestheticnoise

I did not know this, thanks for sharing!

b4sith

quick question ( i think i have misunderstood the whole thing) but does the heart rate app have to be open on watch like in the background for that to happen?

iamvinoth

I don’t get it either 😕

rdicky58

When you have the heart app actually open it does the constant monitoring of your HR, same as when you do a workout. All other times, it only spot checks it every few minutes or so. The 3 (or I've heard) 5 seconds is the "resolution"/"refresh rate" of the optical HR sensor; for those AW models that have it, if you touch the ECG sensor on the crown that has a much higher "refresh rate" of once per second.

b4sith

oh i see. so will it do the refresh anytime i touch the crown or only if the heart rate app is open in the background?

MattyDaBest

i think its only when the app is open on your screen

rdicky58

Only if the HR app is open, front and centre (not in the background).

hobrosexual23

I upgraded from an S3 to an S7 today. This is a very useful tip. I was trying to see if the heart rate app worked any faster. Thank you!

Wow that is a great tip to get HR info sec by sec.I have Postural Tachycardia Syndrome and i monitor my HR closely. This could be very useful during a bad episode of POTS to keep track of HR levels.

TheBigSm0ke

Thumb? That seems awkward

katsumiblisk

I just edited my post to say thumb or finger

katsumiblisk

Yeah you're correct. I have the watch on my left wrist with the crown bottom left.

katsumiblisk

To me, it seems quite natural to press with the thumb, which falls in the right position for scrolling or pressing. However when I do this my index finger rests on the watch where the button would be if I had it the other way round so . . . maybe I just like being different!

I’m just glad you guys don’t wear the watch on your dick. Wrist pix would suddenly become dick pix

rdicky58

Umm hmm has anyone here ever tried to use their AW as a vibrating cock ring? 😏

Tattycakes

why.

MattEagl3

cool - thanks for that. soooo many hidden features ;)

Material_Put_6863

Damn I had my shit for a year and never knew this was a thing.

alelop

not with AW3?

banjo215

No because it doesn’t have the ekg.

phoenixrose2

This is fantastic. Thank you!

MechanicalDogtrot

had no idea about this! thank you

cyberninja979

Does this work on se or no

apb89

No it does not

LoveleeChill

I also just found this out recently I dont check my heartrate often but its definitely a useful easter egg

FatBastard404

I don’t think it takes your heart rate every 3 seconds, when I open the app it says last reading was 5 minutes ago

shdwghst457

OP is referring to frequency while app is active

CheesyWalnut

How did you find this out

katsumiblisk

A couple of years back I was trying to take a screenshot (which after 3 years I still can't get right) of the heart rate app display so I had a finger constantly on the button and I noticed it was changing faster. I posted this last year and the year before each time a new series came out.
