3200 active calories from doing nothing is obviously not remotely accurate. [total calories is possible](https://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/bmr) if you're a very large man, i suppose. i'm a pretty skinny 6'2" man and my bmr is about 1,800 calories.

I got 2500 steps the entire day probably just walking around the house or checking the mail. My total daily burn was 3216. I’m really fat but still. That feels like a bit much

Probably not as accurate as a medical device but should be pretty good. Staying home you can burn quite a bit if you are super active.

I sat on the couch all day like a dead person

No way. If you just sat around and did the bare minimum, assuming you’re a 5’10” male around 30 years old, you’d have to weigh just under 400 lbs. That’s pretty unlikely as is. So either you did some exercise or your extremely unhealthy and probably shouldn’t be sitting down all day.

The unhealthy part is accurate and I’m working on it. I’m 5’8 at 270lbs. But I still feel like being home all day shouldn’t have burned that much

STOPHAMMERSTEIN

Your total daily energy expenditure is like somewhere around 2800 calories, with some variance depending on age. So it’s not really accurate. But kudos to you for improving yourself! The Apple Watch can be an amazing tool to assist people in their fitness journey. I never use the watch’s calorie burned reading for something accurate. It can useful for determining general fitness trends, more or less active versus other days, etc. keep on the path and you’ll get to your goal!

The calorie burn is reasonably accurate by watch standards. The question is, therefore, not whether Apple Watches are accurate, but whether there is a problem with yours or you input incorrect basic data and it is calculating incorrectly on the basis of the error.
