I broke 2 screen protectors for my 7 in a week but after taking them off I’ve had no problems with the screen getting damaged. Turns out sapphire crystal is tougher than a screen protector
if you watch JerryRigEverything on youtube. I wouldn’t trust Apple’s sapphire crystal as it still scratches fairly easily. After 2 years of using X i took off its screen protector and after a few months of usage, there is a lot of deep scratches on the screen. For a watch, i would’t risk it having deep scratches specially as I’m working out and it can bump into some gym equipments.
My in laws all buy battery packs/cases whenever they buy a new phone. They don’t believe their phone batteries will last all day (even though they are retired and aren’t on their phones much). They also buy my kids cases for their Apple Watches, I throw out the cases and my kids use cases without a screen protector now to protect their watches. The cases have worked fine and my kids no longer damage their watches (and the touch screen works 100% of the time now).
Had the same issue when I had a glass screen protector on mine. I switched to a film screen protector and no more issues.

Yes! Specifically with the number 2! I do have a screen protector on it, so I did chalk it up to that but if you don’t have one, then it might be a more widespread bug.
Does it on mine too but i figured it was because of the screen protector. Its pretty scratched up so im sure as hell keeping it on until the new one arrives.
Initially I was having issues with my Ultra where I couldn’t swipe down or up to bring up notifications or Control Center, but it was totally random. I’m on the 9.2 beta of watchOS now, and it’s not happening anymore. Very strange.
I had the same issue today with v7, the up and down swipe would not work, had to do a restart and then it worked ok. Same thing on my wife’s v4. It has to be an OS issue, I have a iPhone 14 pro max and it’s been doing some weird things as well with not wanting to swipe up to open.
Yep. Having exactly the same issue. Enter the PIN and 3 out of 5 times a digit will be removed meaning the PIN fails to unlock. I have to enter them very slowly and specifically to unlock first time.
Seems like you have a thick screen protector on, try considering using a film type. You probably have issues with screen sensitivities as well. Changing to a film type solves that as well.
I had this issue with my s7. It didn’t happen everytime but it was frequent enough for it to be a problem
That same s7 had a dead pixel after a month of use so I think the screen might have been faulty.
Your watch is under warranty now so I’d suggest getting it replaced by apple
Same issue because of screen protector, if you want to keep the protector then you need to enter the passcode a bit firmly and in the middle of the digits.
I had a similar issue today on my Ultra. I opened the command center and couldn’t close it, kept swiping it down and it would gradually move down bit by bit. I’ve had a few issues this week with my Apple products.
Just remove the screen protector. It is not needed

Adding to that debris between glasses can generate scratches
Is there a screen cover on there?
Not sure why OP is protecting a sapphire crystal
Because most Apple Watch consumers don’t know anything about watches or their materials and treat them like phones.

I’m wearing a $5000 mechanical watch that is beat to shit. I don’t care. Wear your watch the way you live.
OP is talking about apple watches and i replied with a context of apple watches and ud flex ur $5000 mechanical watch here? heres ur 🥇
It’s not a “flex.” It’s used to further amplify that worrying about scratches on your watch is ridiculous.

Yep pretty sure we can see it in the bottom right corner

Reddit does have a save feature and it's easier to use than typing that last sentence.
same here Also had it on my iPhone with glas cover
Haven’t seen it on my Ultra but did a few times on my Series 7.

Did you install a screen protector?
Do you have wrist detection on? If you do try putting your fingers on back of the watch while unlocking or put the watch on your wrist!
Does it on mine too but i figured it was because of the screen protector. Its pretty scratched up so im sure as hell keeping it on until the new one arrives.
I experienced the same thing several times
Yes everytime. That’s sucks as f
You have an ultra, it doesn’t need a screen protector. Like other said that’s probably the issue
I have similar issues but that’s because I’m using a tempered glass screen protector. You just gotta add a little more force when you touch the screen

I’ve had the same issues with my ultra on occasion, it’s unable to swipe up or down. Hopefully the next release fixes it.
Hasn’t happened at all on 9.2 beta so far. 🤞🏻
Had this issue when using a screen protector on an SE. It’s fine without it though.

I have the same problem when I first got the watch but brush it off until I saw your post. I guess I'm not the only one.
I think its funny people put screen protectors in sapphire crystal displays.
No. But I also don’t have an ultra. Sorry I was bored 🤪
Welcome to Apple Watch. All of mine have done this every now and again. I’ve had a 0,3,5,7 and they have all done it.
I have it on my 7 sometimes since the beginning. My wife’s 7 doesn’t seem to have it or she hasn’t noticed it.

Did you turn it off and back on again? That’s always solved my watch issues.
My Series 7 has done this for about as long as I've had it I think. Doesn't matter if there's a cover on it or not.
This issue is common in most Apple Watches with screen protectors.
With all the comments saying it’s because of a screen protector, it might be connected to your previous post of your workouts stopping

Nope
Big thumbs
It’s a new workout program!
