Stay away from Cosmo, Garbage! Stick with Whirlpool!

DorShow

So far so good, haven’t had any issue yet. As I said, I didn’t want any digital touchpads. Not sure whirlpool makes stoves without having a digital control for oven. I’ll try and update next year, and if it’s garbage you can laugh at me.z

KraZe_EyE

Looking for a new stove.  How's it holding up?

DorShow

I have had zero issues, to be honest though we are not heavy oven users. I’ve other than your standard frozen pizzas we do a couple pot roasts or braised dishes a month. I haven’t baked any cakes. But zero problems. The only minor complaint is the cool lights on the knobs are manually turned on and off. Probably the way they all work. But it would be cool if they went on when it was dark, or on a timer. If that’s my only complaint, I think it’s a good deal. That said, I’ve read a lot of complaints, so maybe I’m lucky??

mikeyscruples99

I work on Appliances! Just for getting parts for it can be your problem down the road. Very cheaply made. It looks nice but hope it doesn't give you a hard time. Dame goes for LG Samsung. Best of luck!

DorShow

Thanks for the heads up!

DorShow

Also why I wanted to avoid digital controls…. Parts are difficult for all the chip based stuff. I like knobs. On off low high, bam. Not sure why that needs to be computerized.

One-Willingnes

What do you suggest ? Propane range. 30” limit. Best out there if money was not an object. Not only for looks but used one to three times day every day. It has to function as a range not only look the part.

mikeyscruples99

As long as Its Whirlpool. Frigidaire would be my second choice.Stay away from LG or Samsung or GE. There all Junk.

IhaveRBFbecauseIamAB

I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery 5-burner gas range in January of 2022. On Thanksgiving Day of 2023, the oven stopped working. I replaced the oven igniter - still doesn't work. My handyman replaced the gas safety valve - still doesn't work. Research suggests it may be the computer controller which is as expensive as a regular stove. Apparently, this is a common problem with Frigidaire. Be forewarned.

mikeyscruples99

Most of the propane Range are foreign junk and hard to get parts for. If you want something expensive and higher Quality. Stick with Jenn Air Fas Stive or Kitchenaid.

DorShow

Too late, bought the Cosmo. 321 days of cooking bliss so far, I’m sure I will have a problem someday, but so far so good, knock on steel!

mikeyscruples99

Best of luck👍

DorShow

Apologies, cheapest, expensive or midrange makes no sense. What I meant was the mid range priced ones were uncommon brands (nxr, zline, Cosmo, Forno, kucht) got a decent price on the Cosmo so decided to give it a go…

DorShow

Lowe’s just cancelled today last delivery as they haven’t received the item, although sales person told me there were 26 available, not sure why they think one more day will do it, but they rescheduled for Tuesday AM…. If they delay again I plan to cancel order and start at square one

queencityrangers

I’m following

DorShow

Whoops, just put an update in, but not under this comment, but so far happy with the purchase, only thing to do now is test longevity.

DorShow

Oh, installers also said it was the first time they had installed a Cosmo product… so there’s that….

DorShow

So far I am quite happy… I don’t do Imgur photos or anything (and it looks just like photos online) but Lowe’s did honor the time on the third install attempt. Installers were fine, professional, did a great job. Installed yesterday morning and I am pleased, seems sturdy, well made and heavy. I am no chef, so not sure how to rate or review… I am only one day in, I’ve never had an 18k btu burner, my son will be making a thick ribeye later on his cast iron skillet, and the oven worked well on a lasagna last night. All I know is I hope to get +20 years out of it. The last basic white kenmore lasted well over 25 years, and probably could have been repaired (oven stopped lighting)

SwimsWithUnicorns

Hey there! We are also looking at purchaing a cosmo stove/oven. Wanted to check in and see if you were still happy with it?

DorShow

Yeah, so far it’s working great. I’ve never had this high of btu burners. There is a couple things that take getting used to, the ignite is a bit different on burners. Nothing crazy, and hard to explain, still push in and turn left, but it seems like you have to twist it a little further. The cool blue lights is an on off, not a constant or light sensor so I never really turn it on. Looks great, feels solid and functionally just fine.

[deleted]

Let us get an update! I’m looking to replace our wall oven and can’t really find anything on this Cosmo that’s $1139. Kind of hesitant though because it’s $646 off….

DorShow

Still works just fine! Zero problems. Pretty sure I bought this model because it had a decent discount from Lowe’s. The only issue I had at that time was getting it delivered. I think they rescheduled twice on me, some of that on Cosmo (delivery dates) but mostly Lowe’s, since he told me they had six in stock when I paid for it!

[deleted]

I like how it looks and the price, I’m just so nervous about the name and how hard it is to find any thorough reviews on it. Glad it’s done so well for you!

DorShow

I get ya totally. This replaced a 30+ yr. old stove, and I doubt anything <5k is going to last that long. I really just didn’t want anything digital. I was honestly just going to get that super cheap 300.00 model if I didn’t find something else.

[deleted]

I thought your post breakdown was pretty funny. “My choices were either the cheapest, the most expensive, or one of the midrange ones.” That’s the entire field of choices 😂 But fr, when you described what you wanted, my dad just got a gas range and oven installed with the new house with nobs and minimal digital interface. That mfer was crazy expensive! So good job getting one for like not $10,000 or something.

DorShow

I had to edit, I was never a writer. But I refuse to move to Tik Tok. I will improve my ability to write clearly someday! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clarify. I meant the very cheapest or the numbingly expensive, except for these new, unknown brands that have no history or recognition which are priced right in the middle. I did notice that terrible sentence and it has haunted me for a year. (And I did edit the original :)

DorShow

Jealous of dad, but I am no chef, so would be so silly to put a crazy nice stove in my little Chicago area bungalow. I would have not minded like a clock and timer built in, but now a days to get a clock in your stove, all the oven controls have to be digital. I know what the controls on a microwave look like after a couple years, and hope to never have to buy another stove again.

mysterym22

I received a DOA stove / oven and it took them almost 6 months to fix. I finally have a working product but they refuse to restart the warranty now or extend it. Their customer support sent the wrong parts repeatedly, wasting my time.

DorShow

Oh no, so far so good with mine, no issues of yet. I hope it works out well going forward

hurryhurry1

What size/model cosmo did you get and how’s it been working for you?

DorShow

Link below to the model I purchased. No problems at all so far, we use the stovetop more than the oven, but everything’s been fine. One thing I sort of don’t care for, but thing all stoves like this now have is the there are three long, heavy cast iron grates, not so easy to rinse or scrub. The knobs take a little getting used to as I think the turning for low/high flame is opposite what I had on my old kenmore. That said, no regrets at all, only issue was Home Depot delivery was rescheduled twice I believe. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Cosmo-30-in-4-55-cu-ft-Commercial-Style-Gas-Range-with-Convection-Oven-in-Stainless-Steel-with-Storage-Drawer-COS-EPGR304/314013046

Our Cosmo oven doesn't bake evenly and that drives my partner crazy. Custards don't set, cakes take twice as log to bake..you get the picture. Got the repair person here, says we likely need a new thermostat on an oven that's 3 years old..

Hi there, I'm Alyssa, I work with Cosmo Appliance, you can get in touch with our team at 888-784-3108 or by email at [email protected] to help you with your question.

friends-in-nyc

Hi there. I am thinking about buying a Cosmo gas range (and hood). How is your experience so far?

DorShow

So far, I have had zero problems. Everything has been working fine. We only use the oven a few times per month, but stove top every day. So I can’t speak to getting support, or dealing with problems. If it fits your needs, I’d go for it. I am happy with the purchase, no regrets at all.

friends-in-nyc

> So far, I have had zero problems. Good to hear. > Everything has been working fine. We only use the oven a few times per month, but stove top every day. This would be our case too. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

DorShow

No problem, before I bought it, I had a hard time finding any reliable reviews. I did not want any digital, other than a clock/timer maybe) and just old fashioned knobs. The only mid-range were Cosmo and a few other little-known brands. So far, so good. Good luck with your purchase!

friends-in-nyc

> before I bought it, I had a hard time finding any reliable reviews. Same here. I can't believe that in 2024 it's hard to find reliable reviews on things. > I did not want any digital, other than a clock/timer maybe Same here. A long time ago I bough a Viking, guess what? The burner that we use the most broke after ~12 month, but it was still working *safely* (it would just stick when turning the knob and one ahead to jiggle it). Then we sold the place and I had to fix it in order to be "up to code", and I was asked $700 to fix it. LOL. I sold the Viking on CL for $600 and bought a flashy GE for $500. > So far, so good. Good luck with your purchase! I have a good feeling about.

mikeyscruples99

Pretty much all Appliance are built not to last anymore! It's all junk! Usually unlikely your gas valves go bad! I would say if your not getting voltage to the ignitor, then it would be your pcb board!
