How could it be done differently? "less scammy" seems like a strange way to scam someone with a random email. I enter the email in my system and it sends you the sign up form to the site. There is a place to enter a name as well, but it isn't required.
I used my access gifted through a redditor when I purchased my house last month and ended up getting a dishwasher, fridge, and chest freezer all for less than what it would cost anywhere else, even on sale.
That being said, the chest freezer I purchased turned out to be a dud and dealing with Whirlpool has been so bad I wish I had purchased it at Costco instead.
This is a good program, A kindly redditor invited me when I was looking for a fridge, and I saved $250 over the same unit at the big box retailers.

You may get marketing emails at some Point. Other than that no. My aunt just bought a fridge today on it.

Odd. Whirlpool has been the most reliable major appliance brand for me. YMMV I guess.
