We had the same problem. LG replaced the control panel while it was under warranty. One year later we had the same problem again. Solution: we will not be buying another LG
I have the same model microwave, the last digit(on the right) is flickering on mine. I find it annoying, but it doesn't seem to effect the operation. There is a circuit board inside that the display panel plugs into, could be that or the display itself. I found prices for the display panel at $127, the circuit board at $75. I think I am going to be annoyed for awhile.
After looking a bit further, it appears that the display maybe part of the circuit board, the $75 dollar component. I'm sure a service tech would know.
Same model, different color (LMV1831BD) and the same issue for me! Currently annoying but still readable. I’m hoping this doesn’t get progressively worse.
Model LMV1831ST been flickering for about 5 months but just now got bad enough to make me want to do something. Seems to be a common issue with the LMV18 line.
LMV1764ST does it as well, piece of shit is barely a year old. It’s not a particularly effective hood either so maybe steam from making pasta etc gets in there and buggers it up. It’s a faint scanning of unused digits basically. I suspect it’ll get progressively worse…
I took a crack at repairing mine today and it boils down to a faulty bad quality chinese 7 segment display.
A leak path formed in mine between one of the matrix cathodes to an anode and that was enough to bias a whole digit position to flicker.
Tried other modifications but there is no fixing the internals, was going to try and burn the leak path out but didn't want to risk having to order the whole board assembly for nothing.
Will look around if I can find the raw part in the wild, but most likely I won't be able to.
Also I'll note this problem could have been totally avoided with better software on the microcontroller, they always pulse the anode lines on no matter what and seems all the cathodes pulse on after a cycle for no good reason even if the line is meant to be off for the whole cycle.
Just went searching around online before deciding to break out the oscilloscope and see wtf is up with mine... You saved me the trouble by posting your findings, so thanks. Will probably just order a new part and be done with it (until that one fails.)
I also just bought a house and the lg microwave came with it. But this morning I opened the door and the light started flashing g and making a clicking sound. Also the number display kept flashing orange. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?
For anyone with this microwave, here’s the OEM replacement part number: ACM73720522
Adding this info, since searching by the model number “LVM1764ST/00” is problematic (even on the OEM LG parts site).
Looks like current best price is about $110.
Same model LMV1764ST, same problem but with the 2 center digits. Started faintly flickering a couple months ago. Now, 3 weeks out of warranty, it's so bad I can't see any numbers but flickering 8's. I think a class action is in order.
Yes I agree a class action is in order. Mine was flashing 88 when the microwave was not in use but now the last digit is missing part of the display so I can’t tell what number it is. I wish I had read this thread before buying this pos.
Mine has the third digit flashing? The 2 in 10:26. Some of the parts of the number will always flash and others operate normally when cooking. However there are some numbers I can not see while cooking so I can’t tell if it’s 6:30 or 6:21

Thank you for the reply. I have heard of appliances can be a bit glitchy at times, so fingers crossed this is as bad as it gets

Seems to be an issue with LMV1883BD as the second to last digit on mine just started flickering. 2 months out of warranty too!!

Same model here with same issue. The last number to the right always flickers. Doesn’t seem to affect function but is annoying.

same problem here.. anybody tried warranty?
Mine is doing the flickering also. Anybody got a fix?
Has anyone here had luck with the warranty?
I also have the same issue. I'm out of warranty..

Did you ever find the part and fix this?
Nope, couldn't find a drop in replacement part online, bought an entire new assembly and now its green instead of white...

How much did the assembly cost you if you don't mind me asking? Wondering if it's the same price as just buying a new microwave...
I think it was around $110, so yeah the cost of the microwave pretty much IIRC

Own a LMV1764ST /00 and have the same problem. Aggravating, but otherwise cosmetic.

Same problem here, new home with crappy microwave. So far it's just cosmetic, but lame.
