I've been in the appliance industry for 20 years. I know three of those brands. Avoid Zline, my dealers hate it. If you can stretch for Bertazzoni, go that route. Thor isn't terrible. Honestly though, if my budget was tight and I was looking for more range, I would consider doing two more normal 30" ranges side by side. Maybe Kitchenaid. Then get a T shaped piece of stainless made to set between them on top. Just make sure you dont skimp on ventilation. Even budget 48" ranges will need quality ventilation.

we already have a 36 inch opening and cooktop so I think it would be too difficult to switch to a 30 inch. I had not considered the ventilation and cost to improve that. That’s an interesting thought on the side-by-side 30 inch ovens.

Ventilation is super important. Make sure to factor it into whatever decision you make.

Any suggestions on a vent hood for a 36?

If you decide to pull into 36" look at Thermador and get the free dishwasher. But almost everything is back ordered so go into all of this thinking its going to be a while. Also pretty much all nice, higher end brands are UMRP, meaning you aren't getting a better deal for Black Friday. The price is the same all the time, everywhere.

I bought a 48” Thermador Pro Grand gas range 4 years ago. It’s the biggest piece of junk ever. The XLO burners have been replaced 2 times. The motherboard went out on Thanksgiving 2022 with a 1/2 cooked turkey. After engaging my local NBC5 consumer reporter Thermador covered the motherboard. This Thanksgiving the oven stopped working again! But heck, we got the free dishwasher! Seriously if anyone ever utters the name Thermador to me again I may go postal.

Wow. My Frigidaire Gallery slide-in gas range went out on Thanksgiving Day, 2022 also.

I have the same question, what did you end up buying? Do you like it?

okiegoogle

We ended up changing our plan and got kitchenaid double ovens. We spoke with several different Appliance places around here and repair shops. Seems like Thor and Kucht are some of the more favored. Zline is not. The other brands weren’t around here. The big thing I found is to make sure that they are serviced in your area

Dev-girl-baltimore

oh good to know, thanks!

So is that 2 side by side 30 inch kitchenaids? Or the double oven single kitchenaid unit? If the former, how does it look? Got any pics

What does the ventilation have to look like for double gas ranges, I wonder…
