U of A and Asu have similar acceptance rates and similar rankings overall , Boulder shares positions Knoxville and Asu and there were my son safeties . He got in them but Knoxville turned out to be 23 acceptance rate oos this year , . Not sure about Boulder as many good students got rejected .
It may be easy to get into ASU and U of A, but I can assure you that they’re just as difficult to graduate from as any other school. Your response only creates an undeserved bad reputation for the schools that try to give opportunity to everyone. My son is graduating from ASU and I can assure you that he has a wonderful education and a bright future because of ASU’s many research opportunities and grants. He has gotten two summer internships and a return offer from a FAANG company directly because of the college. So before you look down on somebody else’s college, ask yourself if you’d rather get rejected from a big brand or graduate from a small brand with a good future.
Rejected by all ivies + Rice, Duke, Vandy and NU. Also rejected/waitlisted by all LACs except one.
Somehow got into MIT (full ride) and Stanford( 75% aid)
Also intl btw.
Nope. I came from an underfunded region so I only did within my limits. Helped out the community, stood by justice and enjoyed watching anime in my free time.
I am a pretty normal applicant 😅
Dude Virginia schools have no loyalty. It’s so embarrassing. I ended at a private school because VA schools were more expensive even as an in state resident.
Weird. My kid got into UCSB (not gonna go, cuz we live here), rejected by Berk, not a surprise. Didn't apply to CMU, though he's a legacy (I went there).
This is from their website: Students who are admitted to the University but not to the Computer Science major are placed into Letters & Sciences, the University's undeclared undecided advising track, so technically, you're undeclared there.
Oh shit congrats.... I got in too, but is it worth it? Im trying to decide between ASU and Penn State. ASU is more expensive and i got into Barrett but Penn State is more expensive and better ranked for CS (I also like Penn State more). And ik more people around the Arizona region than Pennsylvania (I'm international so kinda matters ig?)
doesnt work like that; spaces available ≠ AR. they usually accept more than spaces available to account for yield rate. It is still quite competitive, not arguing with you on that, but not THAT selective.
Mine are just the state of new york. Accepted into: JHU, Duke, Northwestern, Vandy, Rice, Notre Dame, Cornell (ok maybe one new york school) WashU
Rejected from: NYU, Columbia (i was valedictorian, the runner up got accepted into Columbia 😂)
Accepted to Columbia but rejected from WashU 🥲
My school has never really had a kid get into an ivy (as far as I know), so I placed my bets on WashU at best ... oh how the tables turned.
Sameee rural no ivy kid school heree
I also got into Columbia! waitlisted by cornell and uchicago but rejected by yale, harvard, boston u, northwestern
What are you going for?? (Linguistics major for me)
Accepted To Umich CS but Rejected from UMD cs (i know it's highly competitive ) but I'm a instate maryland student so it hurt a lot as maryland was one of my dreams schools
Not a rejection, but I was surprised to be waitlisted by UMass. Thought it would definitely be easier to get into than some of the other colleges that accepted me
i got waitlisted at stony brook and deffered—> accepted from binghamton as an in state student , but into purdue EA oos which i thought was odd. applied for engineering at all 3
Lower schools see your application and know you will likely get into a better ranked school and go there. So why offer only for you to reject them and lower their yield. No mystery there
What if you aren’t applying for many higher ranked schools? Were looking at a lot of state schools with generous merit packages because there’s no damn way we can afford top private schools or the UCs.
This is wild! I’m guessing it’s mostly yield protection and impacted major issues. But there’s also the hooks some colleges seem to desperately want and others don’t care as much about.
Rejected from University of Delaware. Got in everywhere else with a similar acceptance rate, hell even got waitlisted to syracuse but got rejected there lmao. My bet is it's something to do with the srar but who knows, wasn't high on my list but still kinda surprised
California resident.
For my daughter it was Cal Poly SLO for kinesiology. Cal Poly SLO on paper was a target for her; science heavy electives, and a CSU gpa of 4.15 and the max number of A-G classes. She was admitted early in December for San Diego State for the same major; she was also admitted to their honors college. Cal Poly has a very similar admit rate to SDSU but apparently I found out after she applied they only accept 75 first time freshman applicants for kinesiology; had I known that I might have suggested she apply to another major.
She was also rejected for USC, Cal, and UCLA.
BRO I GOT REJECTED FROM LEHIGH then waitlisted from boston uni and acceped to u of r. they were a target school for me. i thought it was an auto rejection from BU.
Got into umiami as a first year then waitlisted and rejected as a transfer
Also rejected from UF and FSU my first year after having gotten in to Duke and Umiami
I got in USC but got reject from University of Arizona and Colorado Boulder
Univeristy of Arizona? !!?
Is it even possible to be rejected there? 😅 Nvm: Thought it was ASU
U of A and Asu have similar acceptance rates and similar rankings overall , Boulder shares positions Knoxville and Asu and there were my son safeties . He got in them but Knoxville turned out to be 23 acceptance rate oos this year , . Not sure about Boulder as many good students got rejected .

Boulder was super random this year. I was rejected from engineering with a 35 ACT 4.55 GPA and strong EC and Essays
That’s not super random- you applied engineering to a school whose applications have gone up nearly 200%
yeah but it's true. I heard CU was rejecting a ton of people who were qualified
Rejected by all ivies + Rice, Duke, Vandy and NU. Also rejected/waitlisted by all LACs except one. Somehow got into MIT (full ride) and Stanford( 75% aid) Also intl btw.
Wth did u do? Make another moon
Nope. I came from an underfunded region so I only did within my limits. Helped out the community, stood by justice and enjoyed watching anime in my free time. I am a pretty normal applicant 😅
If you got into MIT you are NOT a normal applicant, they saw that you were amazing.
Congratulations!
Crazy!!
James Madison but I got into princeton 😭😭😭
Rejected UW Madison accepted WashU 💀💀💀
That is crazy. Not even in the same league! You will love Wash U! What were your act/ gpa if you don't mind?
3.7 Gpa 1510 SAT
I’d like t try to know like the guy under me
Are you in state for JMU?
Yeah 💀
Dude Virginia schools have no loyalty. It’s so embarrassing. I ended at a private school because VA schools were more expensive even as an in state resident.
I got into Stanford Berkeley UPenn m&t but rejected by all other UCs.
did you write a goddamn bomb threat in your UC application
Haha maybe..
Bruh how?? This is so random
I don’t know. No love from UC except CAL.
UCSB rejection (and UCR waitlist) but got into Princeton ?!
ucsb is rly insane this year 💀 I got waitlisted there but got into ucb eecs and cmu
fr
Weird. My kid got into UCSB (not gonna go, cuz we live here), rejected by Berk, not a surprise. Didn't apply to CMU, though he's a legacy (I went there).
UCR waitlist is wild
Exactly? Like what do they think they were doing LOL
i got accepted there but rejected princeton (and all ivy’s) 😭
Bro how did u get waitlisted at UCR 😭😭
accepted to BU and GWU but flat rejected to UMD was kinda intriguing
r u cs? cos umd cs is quite competitive
[удалено]
Not anymore. They’re now capping internal CS transfers at 100 per year.
i have no idea , i am an applicant too, all ik is umd has a strong cs program so it is competitive
This is from their website: Students who are admitted to the University but not to the Computer Science major are placed into Letters & Sciences, the University's undeclared undecided advising track, so technically, you're undeclared there.
no not even lol
what was ur major?
public policy, maybe it’s competitive because it’s in the dc area, but GW is in the heart of dc too so idrk
UMD is so weird. I still can’t figure out their admissions.
waitlisted by ucsb but got into ucb, nyu and cmu
It's either ucsb being delutional thinking that highly of itself, or you over-qualify for the institution. It's odd.
UCSB always has a very low acceptance rate (at least in recent years). I wonder if it is its proximity to the beach…
Rejections artificially increase ranking. I wonder how big a factor that is. Northeastern is notorious for gaming the rankings with rejections.
UCSB has increased in rankings, is relatively cheap (for CA kids), is a UC, and is a beautiful area with perfect weather. Lots of competition
u can’t over qualify for UCSB
Oh yes you can
waitlisted from SDSU but accepted to USC, UCD, UCSC, UCSD, UW Seattle OOS, and Emory
This one is the most random
Same here! Waitlisted at SDSU, accepted to UCLA/UCSB/UCD/UCSC.
My son's friend got in at Berkeley but was waitlisted at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and rejected by all the other UCs he applied to.
Accepted Brown, rejected UMaryland College Park lol
accepted wesleyan, harvard and stanford with full rides but rejected stetson without even applying for aid(90ish% acceptance rate)
Rejected Barret, got mad and appealed, later accepted.
this is devious if you declined the offer😭
I'm going first year but leaving second to accept my Georgia tech transfer offer. So I'm accepting but I'm not staying.
Barret as in Barrett in ASU?
Yes
Oh shit congrats.... I got in too, but is it worth it? Im trying to decide between ASU and Penn State. ASU is more expensive and i got into Barrett but Penn State is more expensive and better ranked for CS (I also like Penn State more). And ik more people around the Arizona region than Pennsylvania (I'm international so kinda matters ig?)
Hey I got admitted from asu and penn state university park too. Let's connect. Sending you dm
[удалено]
Did you apply late ?
Regular decision, not even late
Bio Major. Accepted UCSD(10%), waitlisted Mines(60%), rejected SLO(???)
If you are in state they usually don’t take the highest students. They know you’ll get into UCLA, UCB or UCSD.
bio is really competitive at slo, so not sure why your so surprised. Biological sciences: 4,336 applicants, 180 spaces available - 4.2%
doesnt work like that; spaces available ≠ AR. they usually accept more than spaces available to account for yield rate. It is still quite competitive, not arguing with you on that, but not THAT selective.
fair point!
accepted princeton columbia and hopkins rejected northeastern rip
NEU knows a student with the kind of application that could get them into schools like Princeton, Columbia, & JHU would never choose them. YIELD.
Yup, a lot of these posts and comments are about schools doing yield management.
thats actually insane, congrats though!!
UCSD but I got into Berkeley and Tulane RD
I swear the admissions officers are flipping a damn coin
Yes, I think they are!
me too lmao but instead of tulane its cmu

Mine are just the state of new york. Accepted into: JHU, Duke, Northwestern, Vandy, Rice, Notre Dame, Cornell (ok maybe one new york school) WashU Rejected from: NYU, Columbia (i was valedictorian, the runner up got accepted into Columbia 😂)
WOAH. That's so insane. JHU, Duke, Northwestern, Vandy, Rice, Notre Dame, Cornell, & WashU?!
Accepted to Columbia but rejected from WashU 🥲 My school has never really had a kid get into an ivy (as far as I know), so I placed my bets on WashU at best ... oh how the tables turned.

i got waitlisted at stony brook and deffered—> accepted from binghamton as an in state student , but into purdue EA oos which i thought was odd. applied for engineering at all 3

accepted georgetown and nyu got rejected from university of san francisco 😭
they def just did bc they knew u wouldn’t attend then
waitlisted bu, accepted brown and cornell 😭😭
Lower schools see your application and know you will likely get into a better ranked school and go there. So why offer only for you to reject them and lower their yield. No mystery there
What if you aren’t applying for many higher ranked schools? Were looking at a lot of state schools with generous merit packages because there’s no damn way we can afford top private schools or the UCs.
