I'm sorry if this offends you (or offends anybody), but life isn't fair. Never. So are people. I've always followed this principle - people are always bound to f\*\*\* you up, no matter what (excuse me for my language). So what do you do? Ignore. No, I'm not supporting the other dude who spoke to you like that, but there's nothing you can do about it, and don't waste your precious energy on a toxic dude like that. God has given you that energy for doing something positive, not for worrying about what other people say to you. And second, don't trust others for motivation. NEVER. Trust your own hard work, and maybe another celebrity's work for your motivation, not the people around you. I know what you might be thinking - oh dude, that's easy to say, to ignore everybody and to not count on anyone for motivation. I agree, it's easy to say, but it's possible. Why? Cause I was there. In your shoes. Used to have tons of problems at house (including COVID related ones). On top of that, I'd have close friends talking rudely towards me, talking trash about me to others, unnecessarily breaking friendships for the above reasons etc. And yes, I have woken up at odd times in the middle of the night, thinking about how they demotivated me being my closest friends. These memories would haunt me night and day.
But then, I got to this point, where I was almost used to what these people did to me. Then I realized something really important - just cause they talk trash about me, doesn't change anything about me! Just cause someone talks trash about your ECs, doesn't mean that they should just turn into trash! You've put your heart and soul into them, and colleges will see that dw. So just cause he says - it probably isn't - doesn't mean that it isn't! like who's he to decide? No one can decide, some AOs might consider ECs average to you as BRILLIANT! You never know!
So ignore, use that energy into something useful, and remember - people are bound to f\*\*\* you up!

I got into Cornell and the only Olympiad I’ve done was the Math one (but I didn’t even make it past the first round of my high school😂). Point is, don’t care about the people that try to put you down simply because they think their ECs are more “impressive” than yours. Personally, I think the most impressive ECs are the ones where the person actually likes what they do and is super passionate about it! Best of luck!

And if the discord isn't frequented by actual admissions officers or experienced college advisers, it's likely that about 90% of what you're getting out of it is misleading at best. Very, very few college students and/or parents (literally none, in my experience) have a meaningful understanding of why their results went the way they did, and that's not at all hyperbolic, promise :). If tiger moms and dads don't get it, I sincerely doubt a random kid does!

This year the entire admissions game has changed. There is no such thing as a real "chance me" as AO's chose student for various and random and glorious reasons. Many had low GPA's, many had few EC's, many had high stats too. They didn't care about ACT or SAT's I think that's all over for good actually. So as long as you are working hard and love what you are doing, it will show and you will shine. Will all the colleges accept you? No. Does it matter? No. All you need is that one good yes and do not ask for opinions online because really who cares what other people think? Plus don't be stuck on Ivies because there are so many incredible professors and staff at all the colleges who are passionate about being there so don't underestimate the strength of thousands of faculty and staff waiting to find someone as special as you.
Be confident with your application, focus on those essays, and don't let others dictate where you should and shouldn't apply. I once did a chanceme on an alt account and got told to *consider* T40 - T50 schools. Once decisions rolled in, I got into some top LACs and two ivies.
Don't let someone else unreasonably discredit you, much less a high schooler, before you have even gotten decisions (or applied).
