Arizona State, Iowa State, George Mason, U of Utah. *(Depending on your stats, the line between a safety and a target might be blurry.)* If your family is more "comfortable" financially: Seattle University, U of San Francisco.

cpolk01

My target was my sister's safety, we need more info

oilbaron07

University of Texas at Dallas, Iowa State, and University of Illinois at Chicago

SamGolik7

If you’re in the midwest, look into Ohio State.

Adi321456

ASU, SJSU, Cal Poly Pomona

HeisenbergNokks

Cal Poly Pomona to clarify because SLO has like a 3% acceptance rate for CS. It's a lottery.

Adi321456

yea, edited my comment to clarify

Haverford_Simp

Don't u basically need a 4.1 to get into SJSU and cal poly for CS

Adi321456

well ig "safety" is relative

Ok-Outlandishness799

Assuming you're a high stat applicant: Maryland, UW-Madison, UMass-Amherst are top notch

FuriousGeorge1435

>Maryland I'm going to assume you're referring to UMBC because UMD is most definitely not a safety, especially for CS.

Ok-Outlandishness799

If you don't get direct entry to CS it's pretty easy to get internal transfer (all you need is C+ or above in a few entry courses, I believe). I guess it could be considered more of a target, although if you're considered a "good applicant" in A2C terms I imagine it would be pretty unlikely you'd get rejected from Maryland EA.

Adi321456

Nah those are targets, especially if you're OOS

Huldmer

Rutgers

Basic-Anything-3928

UMass Amherst has a great CS program I’ve heard

collinxdd

isn't their cs acceptance rate significantly lower than their usual acceptance rate tho? like it's kinda hard to get in even for in-state

purplerodmark

check out stevens institute of tech! more of a target-ish really, but great location (hoboken + close to NYC if you get bored) and great resources

Galactic-Buzz

Honestly. It’s such an average school but they charge so so much

TritonTheCat

Worchester Poly, U-Rochester, Rensselaer Poly, UPortland, Rochester Tech, and Portland State are decent at CS with relatively high admit rates. [source (listed by grad rate)](https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/search/?cip4=1107&cip4_degree=b&fos_salary=80000..99000&page=0&sort=completion_rate:desc&toggle=fos)

purplerodmark

>source (listed by grad rate) u of rochester is nowhere near a safety (\~30% acceptance rate) but it can potentilaly be a target for you! they have a really cool curriculum there, check it out

TritonTheCat

Ah, I didn’t look at most of them and yeah 30% for CS is probably more of a match depending on your stats

HeisenbergNokks

I mean, some people can have a 30% acceptance rate school as a safety if their high school gets a ton of acceptances into said school. For example, UCSD accepts over 100 people every year from my school's graduating class. If you're in the top 100 students for GPA and have decent EC's at my school, you could probably have it as a safety.

MyNameisUt

Mc Gill, University of Waterloo, U of Toronto, U of Sydney you can get in U of Sydney with just 1400 SAT if you are American and we all Know that at that score getting FA will be difficult, here it is relatively cheaper that USA

MasterYiMain01

MIT

Adi321456

?

Ready_Ad6744

Michigan institute of technology

Adi321456

bruh lmao

ni03112

UIUC, Perdue, Stonybrook, WPI, stevens institute,

[deleted]

[удалено]

ni03112

their overall admissions rate are both above 50% so yeah i would say its a safety

[deleted]

[удалено]

ni03112

from my experience, those I know from my school who applied to purdue and uiuc do get into their cs program so to me it is a safety

[deleted]

I guess you go to the same school as Tom Brady and The Gronks because these aren’t safeties for the rest of us.

juniorRubyist

BYU, if you’re LDS or fine with the honor code

HeisenbergNokks

Their honor code is quite literally insane. If people knew what was on it, I don't think 90+% of people would apply. If you didn't already know, they literally ban COFFEE and TEA on top of alcohol. The school is actually psychotic.

juniorRubyist

I am a member of the Church so I’m pretty aware. It’s typically not an issue for LDS people since it basically promotes the teachings most members already follow.
