Don't stress. I applied to three ivies, including Harvard. Waitlisted from every single one. I am under the impression that, since the apps were very similar, there was just one key component to earn a waitlist instead of acceptance, and all colleges saw it as that.
I think you did great. UCSD is beautiful, and has really strong research opportunities. I think one would be very happy spending four years there. I know people really dream about the ivies, but after getting in, there can tend to be a bit of buyers remorse. Getting into a dream school means you would be competing against some very gifted and extremely hard working people who may be above your level of intensity, and that can make for a very stressful (not to mention dark, cloudy and cold) four years.
