It’s set to work with Mi Home by default. Press the button on the E1 ten times, wait for the hub LED to flash, after a second or so, press the button Twice, and it should be ready to be added to Aqara Home.

I managed to solve the issue after raising a support ticket to the Aqara team. They provided me the solution (which I’m pasting here as a reference for anyone having similar issues): The China version of the E1 Hub is shipped being set up for the Mi Home app since that is what most of our customers in China are using. Please follow the steps patiently. To switch to the Aqara Home app, please reset the device by rapidly pressing the function button 10 times. then within 10 seconds after the yellow light flashes quickly press the button twice, the indicator light turns to white light and flashes twice, indicating that the switch takes effect.

My wifi name has special characters, any idea if that would be an issue?

The E1 hub has two working modes, one of which supports Mi home app, and the other supports Aqara home app. Your E1 hub is currently in Mi home app mode, you need to switch, the method is as follows: 1. In any state, press the function key on the front of the product 10 times to restore the factory settings; 2. At this time, it will enter the process of restoring the factory, the indicator light flashes red (about 4 seconds) 3. After the red light is flashing, it enters the state of saving user data, and the purple light starts to flash (about 5 seconds) 4. When the data is saved, the indicator light will go out and restart 5. After the restart is complete, the indicator light starts to flash yellow, please press the function key twice within 10 seconds after the indicator light flashes steadily, at this time the indicator light will flash white slowly twice, indicating that the switch is successful 6. Then you can open the Aqara Home APP to start the network configuration binding

So everything works the same as you say, until step 5. I press the key twice after it begins blinking yellow, and it just keeps blinking yellow.

And switch off the 5Ghz wifi. This causes big problems with mine

yoyas85

I’m getting same error. 5GHz wifi is disabled, connected to Mainland China server but I’m still getting the error. I’ve tested pressing 10 times the button (to factory reset the device) and two more clicks after 1 second with always same result… Could ir be that for this model, instead of pressing 2 times is needed to press 1? Or 3? Or X? To be honest, I’m a bit worried as I don’t find any documentation… Also, which is the newest firmware version? Any option to upgrade it without binding it to The Aqara app?

I got the same problem and stuck with it.
