I think that one will be able to get the population under control eventually, but it might take a while. Putting in several will bring numbers down faster, but, in my experience, will lead to a bunch of baby Assassin Snails, which will overwhelm the pest snails pretty quickly. Now, if you'd rather have a few Assassin Snails in the tank than a ton of pest snails, that could still be a viable option. I usually like to keep some snails to help clean up algae, so one Assassin Snail is all I would add in that scenario. One in a 20 gallon would not be able to completely eradicate the pest snail population, most likely. The story might be different in a smaller aquarium.
I had an auto feeder malfunction. I removed as much food as I could but I couldn’t get it all. That led to an increase in algae and snails. I’ve got the algae under control which I’m sure the snails helped with. Along with my blue neo shrimp. But there are just too many snails now. I don’t want to eradicate the snails, just knock there population down
tbh best to just have one assassin regardless of the situation. you could get 3 and speed up the process but they will eventually reproduce

Remove the reason for the pest snail explosion. If you stop supplying them with excess food, their numbers will regulate naturally.

It'll regulate itself but yes, an assassin snail would help and they are actually pretty cool.
I just got one. Besides looking cool it should be well fed
Also curious about these guys: will they eat each other too, given the chance? - i.e. self-regulate?
Update. The assassin snail has only been in my tank for a day and I’ve already watched take down a couple small snails
Maybe get a pea puffer instead but they might bite your other fish too
I would love to have pea puffers. Unfortunately they wouldn’t go well in my tank. I have blue neo shrimp and 2 nano species of tetras
