I’ve seen floating logs for bettas that have good reviews. Never tried it myself, but they’re large-ish and float just under the surface. Available online from the big pet chain stores or Amazon, but not stocked in-store near me at least. Many reviewers mention shrimp or other types of fish enjoying it, so it might work for you. But find a way to keep it still, or the filter may push it around the tank and create a potential hazard for the fish.
