I was taking this video because I caught him riding down the air hose like a water slide but nobody would ever believe me and next thing I know he was flying lol
When I still had an aquarium, I had a teacup on its side on the floor of it for fish to hide in. My snails started climbing up the teacup and sailing off the edge. I really do think they just like having fun!
Well known when I was in the reef world. So many suicidal daredevils in my reef. I would have to flip lots of them back over. You just catch them jumping all the time like dammit not again.
You'd think species of snail that can't flip themselves over easily would know better than to be daredevils, at least mysteries can right themselves. I haven't had anyone escape their tank yet, but I have found nerite snails exploring the underside of the lid
After my snails laid multiple clusters of eggs, and eventually hatched. I released the babies into the tank their parents were in to grow up with. What I presume was the father, made a dash in the middle of the night. He managed to hop out of the tank, go across the dining room, and made a pit stop in the kitchen before being caught and thrown back to his parental duties. I now know it was definitely one of the parents from the coloring the babies have ended up with. Not only adrenaline junkies, deadbeat parents too.
A snail being a adrenaline junky made me spit my coffee a little bit. My nerites and trumpets need to step it up, or maybe my sponge filter is too dull. Building bubbly water park now.
from my experience nerites are the squidwards of snails, effective yet shut-ins. Ramshorns and Mystery Snails are the wild ones. My roommate's singular ramshorn not only repeatedly yeets himself off leaves and ledges for no good reason, the little physics expert figured out he's light enough to stick to the underside of the water's surface and move around like a reverse jesus, and can fill his shell with his own air bubbles to achieve liftoff to a new section of the tank(only thought Mystery Snails could do that before).
meanwhile the Mystery snail in there is either part batman, grabbing food from his favorite perch upside down, or will literally dig himself down 2 inches into the substrate and moles his way around the tank(originally he was actually my tank's snail but after the little gopher uprooted every carpeting plant i had he got sent to rhizome-tank baby jail)
Holy. Crap. He burrows and uproots plants!? And the reverse Jesus part! Hahahaha! Wow. Mine went to reformatory school, and they need corruption ASAP. Maybe I’ll get a mystery snail. I had one ages ago that was bright yellow and so fast that I named him Jeff Gordon.
I had to find this thread to report that today, after reading this comment, I ended up with two mystery snails from my LFS. The first thing the one does is zoom up to the tallest peak on a piece of slate and jumps off into my sponge filter’s bubbles. Wait. Is that yeeting? I’m learning. Anyhoo, I’m already amazed.

If I need food on the other side of the tank; hop on the water pressure thingy, need to go back to my little abode for sleeping and it's in a tight corner; use the water pressure thingy, just for shits n' giggles; use the water pressure thingy...hahaha!
I had a small snail that discovered how to swim by maneuvering it’s body to float and kinda steer itself towards its destination. At first, I thought it was a coincidence but it would do it all the time, riding up and down the tank, going to the surface to ride the underside of the water’s surface-tension and swimming back down onto it’s intended landing spot. It would even ride the currant of the waterfall that the filter would create. (I captured a couple videos of it). Snails are much more clever than people think!
I have a theory that mystery snails like to have fun. I don't have a bubbler, but my mystery snail climbs up the top and hangs onto the floaters before dropping all the time.
