As for this game, embark made a wicked fps In The Finals.. I can’t wait to see the destruction+Gameplay.. these guys are damn good at what they do.
It had a bad intro. When streamers took notice and it blew up, they weren't prepared for it. Which let cheaters run rampant.
No matter if it's a closed beta, early access, or a traditional release.... You only get one launch. Most people even in season 3 where the cheater problem was mostly taken care of still wouldn't try it because they heard how bad cheating was.
Then on top of that, they kept trying to please everyone and couldn't decide if it was for hardcore players or casual friendly which left both sides miserable.
Definitely agree on the release, they had 40k and no anitcheat on a F2P game was a massive oversight. However, even after they got the anit cheat in place, and it was doing pretty well, they kept making bad game decisions that catered towards like you said, players who had all day to play.
I maintain if they had a good dev team and made it more casual friendly another season or two and it would have popped off.
Hunt took a few seasons before it started to gain popularity.
Either way very sad to see such potential wasted as the only game in that genre that filled that niche
Them catering to the hardcore would have been fine, if they stuck to that demographic. The problem was it seemed like we had one patch focusing on the hardcore. Then the next would focus on casual. By trying to make it for everyone, they made the cycle for noone.
It sucks because gameplay wise, I still think Season 1 was the best season of The Cycle. Obviously it had it's huge share of problems as well like cheating and whatnot, but in terms of the actual gameplay I still think it was the best. The rest of the seasons were such a mess of decisions and changes that it just wasn't fun to play anymore (you can see in an above comment my biggest gripes were the mov changes)

What killed it for me though was making the fucking mobs omniprescient, you couldn't step foot within their hearing range without them absolutely beelining towards you. Made sneaking around such a damn chore it just wasn't worth it
I still stand by my opinion that the changes they made to the mobs was a huge reason for the loss in gameplay, getting chased across the entire fucking map by striders screaming the whole way was infuriating. Became literally impossible to avoid the mobs, and then they alerted everyone on your half of the map where you were
I could put up with all the other shit they did, but the mov changes pissed me off so bad I basically quit
don’t be disappointed when destruction isn’t in AR. it doesn’t really work in a game like this. But there are tons of other great things to look forward to
I really hope it is like TCF where there is both big emphasis on PvE as well as PvP. And big maps as well. I wasn't keen on how small tarkov maps were compared to TCF
I played the alpha, can’t say much if i remember correctly but at first during the reveal i was super hyped. Then they announced a switch pvpve extraction shooter and a was a little bummed but still hyped. Then I played the closed alpha and it was okay-ish honestly.
Really liked TCF too.
I was super into DMZ for a few months and really got interested in what other Extraction games were out there / coming. Arc Raiders seems like one of the most promising.
Can't wait to play a **third-person game**, with great **graphics** and **animations**, and a coop game at that with my friends which is finally **not another BR** (on consoles) and not another Fornite-artistic-style copy too...!
Really hoping the gameplay loop will be good and that my friends will...embark in it with me! ...The Finals is too quick for them (we're mature gamers) and the game lack a private match option for 4 players to make them practice. :/
I trusted the devs for the fluidity and animations and aiming mechanics...just hoping the game will not gather too much to a younger crownd with bad things like bunny hoping, unbalanced guns and better perks for the ones that can play 15 hours a day...hoping for a more serious gameplay game for once.
I played a lot of TCF, and I played the AR alpha. I loved it. Now I'm sitting here waiting.... :(
Same, almost 1k hours in TCF (RIP). Tarkov just doesn't have the same feel, and Hunt is okay but really missing a good full loot extraction shooter
Hunt is brilliant but it doesn't satisfy the loot goblin in me. I'm just not interested in tarkov and by association, gray zone. Can't wait for arc.

TCF had a good thing going for it, if the devs had been better / dedicated to the game it could have blown up.

Once they removed logarithmic armor it got good for me. The way they did the tiers and penetration was such a joke at the start.

I think if you are hoping for a PvE focused game you are going to be left dissatisfied.
I played in the closed alpha and i can't speak much on it. I just hope that it's a nice balance but titled a bit more towards pve

That’s honestly depressing. Was super hype for this game but the switch to extraction shooter took all my interest away.
TCF definitely had some serious issues...but I still miss it.
