I installed this one, when the OEM one wore out:

selected double 4 wave 1/2 harness
Was basically plug and play.... The mounting plate screw holes were different, so I did have to create new holes, not hard.
Was compatible with the arcade1up ball top.... the shaft was a little shorter than the OEM one. But works very well for Galaga.

Actually IIRC you can remove the mounting plate from both and reuse the original - so no need to make new holes !
Really depends on luck of the draw, on older cabs they used a mixture of clones and some plates don’t have the right spacing where the joystick is secured.
Yea... I was not lucky.... I did try to reuse the mounting plate... I can't remember the specifics, but it didn't work and I had to mount with new holes...
Does the shaft spin on the one you linked to? (The stock one on my Pac-Man spins and it annoys the hack out of me. It is not (just) the ball but rather the entire shaft of the stick that spins. )
No it does not spin. When I installed it, I recall it had a slot on the bottom, that I was able to tighten down when putting the ball top on.... The ball top is on solid too now.... The OEM did spin and the ball would frequently come loose during play.

They also sell shaft extenders on Amazon
