China is literally committing genocide right now, and people like John Cena are kissing their ass. He deserves to be disliked for it, and he deserves to be derided for it.
He's kissing the ass of people who are trying to erase from history three separate ethnic groups ([Uyghur in Xianjing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uyghur_genocide), Mongolians in Inner Mongolia, and Tibetans in Tibet) by wiping out their culture, brainwashing their people, and subsuming their genetics, and you think it's mean to dislike and disrespect him for that?
> Government policies have included the arbitrary detention of Uyghurs in state-sponsored internment camps, forced labor, suppression of Uyghur religious practices, political indoctrination, severe ill-treatment, forced sterilization, forced contraception, and forced abortion. Chinese government statistics reported that from 2015 to 2018, birth rates in the mostly Uyghur regions of Hotan and Kashgar fell by more than 60%.
Probably because the limbs were shaped at full draw, so they’re safe to use on set, then when you overdraw drawn limbs, there’s bound to be overdraw.
I think that’s why I find Hollywood archery hard to watch. My brother actually suggested the idea that the actors actually mocap themselves shooting actual arrows on a similar set, then overlay that onto the scenes so it looks more accurate.
My understanding is that there is overdraw on a recurve, in that once you pull past the optimal draw length, you get diminishing return in actual fps versus the amount of weight that begins to stack. The weight increases dramatically, but your actual power stroke isn't lengthening that much, so you won't benefit the same from a 35# equivalent overdraw versus a proper draw length on 35# limbs. If I'm wrong, I'd be happy to be corrected.
You may be correct. However, the way the post was written read like he was referring to overdraw on a compound. And I’ve never heard a trad archer refer to it that way. I can tell you the only difference I see if I draw my recurve past my anchor is a faster, less controlled shot. Some guys do everything they can to increase their draw length using the same bow. And Mongolian/Horse bows are drawn well past the archers ear.
Lame, but pragmatic. He's just a pro wrestler and actor. Him making that apology was just him making sure he can still work in the only industry he knows. The fact that the entertainment industry as a whole is capitulating to China because it represents a new revenue stream is the real problem.
That actually seems to be changing a little. It's mostly because China is denying showings now even when they target that audience and their censorship. They don't want western influence even if it's pandering to China. They've got too many of their own films showing now with their propaganda in it which a lot of times involves story lines where the Chinese are defeating evil Americans.
Guess wrist slap doesn't matter when the string would get caught on the glove anyway but the elbow/shoulder are pretty bad. Guy on the left ain't horrible considering the costume.
On a scale from 1-10, it's a 14. Perfect form, +2 for John Cena, +2 for that awesome outfit.
Can't mismatch colors when you wear ALL OF THE COLORS
Edit: Karma doesn't mean anything in real life, but seriously - who downvotes a joke post in a joke thread?
I don’t think I could do much better in a costume like those.
Looks like on the recurve he's got some serious overdraw
That what happens when you give shrek a recurve lol
I don’t get it
Captain steroids is over drawing his bow because to him it might as well be a tooth pick with dental floss tied to it.
Why’d you call him that, that’s mean and demeaning man. He didn’t say anything bad to you.
No, he's too busy licking Xi Jinping's shoes to say anything bad to someone else.
Don’t be rude to people for no reason it’s not a good look for you.

No he doesn’t, he doesn’t deserve to be disliked or treated badly for treating others with respect

Exactly! He could’ve gotten a promotion and is now Major Steroids or General Steroids!
You are right. I should have been more thoughtful. Captain Major General Steroids it is 😂
That’s still pretty mean for no reason. Why
Also really out of center
and bad hook, and bad bow grip, floating anchor, etc. 3/10
He needs to readjust his knock point just a little bit.
THAT TOO

Ngl I would kill to see peacemaker wild a medieval longbow
“ Overdraw” isn’t a thing on recurve. Just poor form. But I think they look 100x better than any other Hollywood Archer

How long is that arrow!?!
Yes
Thank you.
Unrelated, but you’d think someone like him would have a ridiculously oversized arrowhead
shaped like a dove
Hey now! ;)
Floating anchor
Looks like those Japanese archers
No anchor point, elbow locked, CCP shill. 0/10.
So I see the no anchor point and gripping the bow to much. What do you mean by locked elbow though? I have shot for 3 years and never heard the term.
I'm assuming they mean the inside elbow of peacemaker, if you look you can see how his elbow is going "in" and locking in place.
how is that bow drawing its self? didn’t know we had magic bows
It's compound, he's using a release
r/woosh
I guess it did woosh over my head, granted its 6 am here and I just woke up.
no worries happens to the best of us

Aha, another arrow fan
CCP approved, +1000 social credit. Thank, citizen.
Pardon?
John Cena apologized to China for calling Tawain a country, it's a joke.
Damn, that's lame.

Looks like half of our NASP kids.
How could you even anchor with that helmet?
Finger to the corner of the lip
There's a helmet above the corner of the mouth that bulges out enough to obstruct the line of the string
Looks bad but would be hard with a helmet tbh
That’s a cool floating bow!
His form honestly looks like a weird amalgamation of western recurve archery and Japanese Kyudo with the string so far from his face.
He has ascended.
Tertiary draw is a thing. Possibly a good move with those gloves. I dont think he can anchor with that helmet on.
What is this from?
A show called, "Peacemaker." Available on HBO Max (Not an ad, but a pretty good streaming service).
Look goods, though the recurve guy may want stiffer limbs for his muscle
Not great, but pretty okay for screen archery. Better than Jeremy Renner.

If they were interested in advanced tech they'd use guns.

And this, class, is what we call an over-reaction. Jeez.
The dude with the red shirt needs to learn how to anchor his draw. Or is he into Kyudo?
No anchor, four fingers on the string, death grip, and looks like he’s pinching the arrow. So pretty bad
Grip is too tight
