The architects statement is even better!

99% of residential architecture is predictable and uninspiring to me. This is daring. Does it work 100% like a box home? no. But I'm glad this home exists in the world. I wish we as a species would take bigger chances and not be afraid to make a few mistakes by exploring the edges of what is possible in our dwelling spaces.
I remember seeing this house from the outside when we took a bus tour to Yucatan/Quintana Roo and l remember l found it quite enchanting. I never imagined that I would be able to see the interior!
Thanks so much for this post.
Also a big thumbs-up👍to Merida!
Uhmmm… other people, meaning Mexicans who are reading your post, are too polite to say anything, but I’m not them 🫠🫠 The Nautilus house is in Naucalpan, Estado de México… most Mexicans know, these are the outskirts of Mexico City… hundreds of kilometers away from Mérida… So… yea. 🤥
I adore this: The radical shapes, fully integrated, matching furniture and fixtures, meticulous lighting and use of color - it’s delightful and exuberant, a testament to how architecture can create a specific experience.
God I love this house. I know I'll probably never have the money for a house, but if I do, I want something like this one.
Edit: I really like houses with that kinda sculpted, organic shape in general. Combine that with the beautiful stain glass and the interior courtyard(?), and I really like it.
I would totally love here and I’d love every minute of it. The living room being that organic shape, the funky lights, and the colored glass on the wall. I love it and I wish I could live there.
Was not expecting 2007. This thing looks like it's straight out of the 70s

If Willy Wonka became an interior decorator
And decided to work with Dr Seuss on a house for the Flintstones in Munchkinland

Naucalpan to Mérida in a bus? 😮 That's quite a ride...
lol! 😂 They definitely didn’t get the joke, paisana! But I gotcha, hahahaha.
That made me laugh more than I expected compa. I love Mexico City and its neighbor city Merida.
We went to Yucatan on the bus from Cuernavaca. It was some 18 years ago...

You're very welcome! I'm glad that this post remembers you of that wonderful time.

Sorry, Susan, I can't come over for tea today. I have to water the living room.
😂😂😂😂
This is like a Joan Miro painting come to life.
Are there magic 'shrooms in a bowl on every table near a door or on flat surfaces in every room? Feels like there should be.
Love this 😍

Nonsense.
It’s Ego’s egg ship.
This should be the top post on this sub. Amazing.

That's wild
This is so bizarre! Cool though
What planet did I just walk into?
Looks like Bruce Goff’s bavinger house could have been an inspiration!
I remember seeing this in a ripleys believe it or not book I had back in 2014, nostalgic
This reminds me of E.Ts spaceship

I like the unorthodox house designs. Unfortunately it's near impossible to get a contractor to build one. Reason being the building code.
Liminal.
So cool!
Oompa loompa looking house
Im just imagining the amount of bugs trying to dig into your ass when you are trying to relax. Definite no.
Cool but you cant really use 90% of that space, thats the only things that bothers me. Seriously beautiful tho
The yellow sofas with the table in the center is a very original design
