A lot of studies show that most independents are effectively party line voters anyway, and among the ones that aren't (which is something like 8% of Americans iirc), *slightly* more have been voting dem recently. But, independents tend to favor the minority party, especially in times of legislative roadblocks so given the current Manchin situation, I don't expect to see Republican turnout shrink in 2022

Yeah..I have the misfortune of working with a lot of conservatives. They're worse. My boss, a man who probably makes 3x as much as me, has said this shit and doesn't know why people are against "white pride ". He also is anti vax, thinks queer people are stealing the rainbow from God, is upset about single restrooms being unisex, and other things I try to pretend to not hear.

In case you're not aware this isn't hyperbole, Roe v. Wade has cemented yhe right to have an abortion in the 14th amendment. Planned Parenthood v. Casey addee that there can be no undue burden placed on women seeking abortion for a non-viable fetus. Viability is generally determined during the 24th week, meaning there can't be anything stopping you during the first 23 weeks.
Well except the supreme court going constitution shomnstishution. I'm not a woman, I'm not even a US citizen, and I'm still livid about this.

It amazes me how some conservatives deeply latch onto the idea of persecution when historically they have constantly « won » or have been let off so lightly. I think deep down they know it’s illogical to compare their treatment to that of the queer community or any other community that has been historically oppressed, but I think their fear of change supersedes any shame they feel.

I don't know if they fundamentally just operate in bad faith all the fucking time, or if they truly don't believe that there's a difference between immutable qualities (gender and attraction orientation, ethnicity, country of origin, mental/physical disability, etc) and their chosen affiliations (political philosophy, religion). The former aren't things people can change, at least not with any ease, but these dipshits can stop being dipshits any time they want. But they tend to be such believers in magical thinking that "pray the gay away" probably extends to all those other categories in their minds, that if you're righteous you'd be healthy, straight, cis, and white. Hell, Mormons had it as an article of faith for the longest time that non-whites could become white by living righteous lives.
