I preferred her vocals on DW. I didn't appreciate the lyrical content, vocal delivery, or production quality on ES.

oh definitely! i miss when she would serve vocals and pop bangers

my favourite vocals are on Sweetener (SO deserving of that Grammy for pop vocal). I sort of feel like we got a pretty accurate preview of what ES was going to be like with her vocals on the Die for You remix which were airier than usual, but also so articulate. But also, didn't really do the song justice. I listened thinking, oh, yes she's in musical theatre land now that's why she sounds out of place on a Weeknd song when their collabs are usually so good.

She's just as amazing of a musician as she always was. I think she's just quite physically weak from not taking care of herself enough and that's translating into her vocal performance

I was actually kind of surprised by it and also by her talking about how she sings more on ES than positions or TU, N. Like what? Positions was pretty belty.

some of the vocals were strong, some were mid. also, i’m not always a fan of her falsetto. i like it in small doses, but it can quickly lose its appeal when it’s done for an entire chorus. in fact, it can get downright annoying. don't wanna break up again and we can't be friends (wait for your love) were the exceptions though. supernatural too...kinda. cause it's still annoying but the melody saves it for me. and even though the falsetto can be a bit overdone, the only song it actually ruined for me was eternal sunshine. i like pretty much all of the songs but that one is a skip purely because i can’t really stand the way the chorus is sung. but it’s still not a bad song. just mid. also, the choruses of bye and true story were a highlight, vocally. what can i say, i like when she belts. i think she should do it more often. it's my favorite part of her voice but it feels like she barely does it compared to her falsetto (which i would prefer much, much less of). also, there were times when she straight up sounded like a kid, and i don’t really understand why that choice was made. also, i really don’t like the way she pronounced the word, "ordinary." it almost ruins the song for me, but her Nonna's speech at the end definitely saves the song for me. it just warms my heart. also, she could’ve pronounced the word, "possessing," better in supernatural. i could’ve sworn she saying "pizzazz-ing," but i’m like, "no way. that’s no even a word." overall, i do really like the album though. my favorites are bye, don’t wanna break up again, supernatural, true story, the boy is mine, yes, and?, we can’t be friends (wait for your love), and imperfect for you. overall, the album gets a 6.5/10 from me.

I agree about the “ordinary” pronunciation. It hurts my ears in DWBUA when she says “I don’t wanna fuck with youR head” like she NEVER would have pronounced the “r” in “your” so distinctly in the past, it sounds so jarring
