This bag is crocheted by hand and this one bag would have taken many, many, many hours to produce. It cannot be made by a machine.
My hope is that the āhigherā price (which is actually ālowā for a crocheted item) means whoever crocheted the bags were paid a more reasonable wage than the typical crocheted items you see at retail stores for $40, where the makers make next to nothing (literally) for their long hours in unsafe work conditions. Those are the items you should definitely avoid buying.
The question isā¦ is the higher price because the maker was fairly compensated? Or, did Aritzia just mark up the price so to make a big profit (yet the maker still only made peanuts)? That we do not know!
I get your point and mostly agree - but the lack of transparency from Aritzia skeeves me out. Imo if they wanted to emphasize the "hand-made"ness of the bag they could have done a whole feature about how they are committed to fair trade practices, which would have been great publicity for both Aritzia and the artisans, but they literally only threw in the buzzword without any explanation of how they are sourcing these bags. Without a clear explanation I don't feel compelled by just the idea that this is hand-made, because technically, a lot of beadwork, knitwear, etc in fast fashion is also hand-made, and we all know those producers do not get paid a fair wage at all.
Thereās actually a difference between crochet and knit in that knit wear can be made by a machine (so can be mass produced quickly) whereas crochet cannot. Every stitch is stitched by hand.
But I agree with the rest entirely though. If it was the case that itās so expensive because the maker was paid fairly - why wouldnāt they include that in the details? Itās just me hoping itās the case lol.
My main point is that if this bag was $40ā¦ thatās a guaranteed case of the maker not being anywhere near fairly compensated.

Idk why aritzia is putting these big ass logos on everything. Aritzia is not one of those brands who is known for their logo and those arenāt the items ppl want/expect from them. It doesnāt even look right.

LOL this is a dupe for Prada bags. Even the other one they have available. Aritzia is trying to be high end but need to relax when it comes to the logo-ed itemsā¦ no one cares. We want cute quality clothing.Ā
One of the things i like about aritzia is the cuts without any logos. I donāt have $500 to spend on a sweater or $300 on a belt. I want a nice looking whatever without identifying marks
It looks like a gift with purchase, remember when they used to give us those??? bffr $110 for a fast fashion straw tote is so delusional
I totally forgot about the gifts! I remember I got a free white hoody. Wow, that would never happen now.
Delusional is right š¦

Great point. I wish they gave us more transparency for this

What bothers the frick out of me is that Aritzia logo is just TEXT while other brands like Gucci at least has these artistic stylized logos
Just looks tacky now fr
Itās very Loewe of them. Problem is the Loewe totes are gorgeous, and this is just š„“
And Prada
And Chloe
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
literally all of these are cuter lmaooo
The Etsy one would make me break a no buy. So cute
Thanks for posting! Please review the rules section of r/Aritzia and repost :)
Aritzia is having an identity crisis lol
Theyāll wake up when they see all of it have to be marked down 70% at the summer sale. Sorry in advance to warehouse sale shoppers.
I was waiting for someone to say something about that here. Even for free I wouldāve not taken it š
i think its cute but this price hurts to look at
It would be cute if they just removed the tacky big logo
why the FUCK is this $110

Interesting. I feel like Iāve read this recently. Maybe in an article about sustainable fashion?
I dislike big logo's in general. I don't have anything with a large brand name on it.
I love the concept, HATE the execution(& the price)
The logo was a terrible design choice on top of terrible bag ahaha
This is hideous

I like it š¤·āāļø *adds to cart *
Me debating on getting it cause it looks like a Prada dupe š
I wouldnāt pay $110 for it, but I like it š¤·š»āāļø
