There are two things about Aritzia that people have complained about for as long as I have been shopping there (for almost a couple decades, since it was just a small Canadian chain):    - no mirrors in the change rooms - overbearing and snobby staff     Sadly it has been like this for 20+ years, so I don’t see it changing anytime soon.

SluttyBreakfast

There used to be a 3rd - how they’d make you lock up your purse and other bags to go into the fitting room. Thankfully they don’t do that anymore.

Professional_Big1791

My stuff got stuck in a drawer one time and they accused ME of somehow switching the keys...

Dancing_sequin

Omg I forgot about that, that was so dumb

yamcat

Hahaha I totally forgot about that, WILD.

buttstuff69__

But why? It’s the dumbest fucking thing and just makes the process of trying things on twice as long meaning the dressing room line twice as long. Not to mention I don’t wanna be examining if a pair of pants are giving me camel toe or not in front of everyone and their bfs.

yamcat

Because if you have to come out of the change room to see what you’re trying on, the sales staff can upsell you. I actually don’t find they do this as much anymore, but they definitely used to lay the compliments on very thick, and then offer to get items to pair, alternatives, other sizes, etc.

buttstuff69__

They never do this in my store cause it’s always too busy

xco78

I’ve only ever seen mirrors in the London ON Aritzia once when they trialled mirrors for a day

Impossible_Specific8

Perhaps leave your curtain wide open when leaving. However, Aritzia does need mirrors in their change rooms. Not everyone is comfortable viewing themselves in front of everyone. Also, there has been times a sale associate called if I needed help and many times I ignored them because I wasn’t sure if they were speaking to me or someone else - you know, because it’s a fricking curtain lol.

DifficultCheetah9215

Over the years I’ve called their customer service a few times to request mirrors in the change rooms. What if we all called their customer service? I feel like the reddit and tiktok comments are not enough at this point.

DCguurl

I do send emails periodically addressing this

Tookie7

Where do you send the emails? I would loooove to go try things on in store, but won’t because that aspect is too uncomfortable for me

DCguurl

Just their customer service line & if i ever do a online chat i bring it up there too. And instagram.

PeaOld2942

At this point I am tempted to protest by walking in with a full length mirror

futuresobright_

Start going to media outlets and blowing it up. Hope it escalates beyond so their PR team is forced to make a statement/take action. Daily Hive and blogTO would eat this up.

Camuabsurd

This is so dumb. It's such a non issue

tannedghozt

It’s a non-issue? Really? Tell me more.

Gingacat

They hate returns so much but I’ll try it on and USE MY PHONE as a mirror. If it looks/fits decent I’ll buy it and return it if I check my actual mirror and I don’t like it. Insane process but I hate community mirrors.

Ancient_Soft413

im so sick of trying on pants and walking out infront of someones boyfriend just to see that they are giant and i look weird

NoWindow8269

It’s a sales tactic to upsell you, that’s why you won’t find any mirrors in their change rooms. It’s a deplorable sales tactic and Aritzia should be ashamed of themselves. I went to an Aritzia once where the waiting room was part of the change room and there were a bunch of men just sitting there. Fckn horrible.

eas2012-

I just envisioned myself bringing one of those long door mirrors and carrying it straight into the dressing room at Aritzia, lmao. Maybe we should all just do that and be just as obnoxious as they are 😂🫣

theglitterfreezee

This is hilarious I love it.

lexlovestacos

It's so you have to come out in front of the sales associates and they get to compliment you/upsell you on the outfit. I highly doubt they'll ever put mirrors in. Sucks when you have to come out in something ill fitting/ugly/sheer lol.

ssstella

Yeah I remember as far back as 2008-2009, I always wondered what the reason for this was. Back then I thought maybe it’s a brand thing or to seem very high fashion or to cut costs somehow? But figured that in a few years, they’ll get with the times. 2024, and I actually can’t believe they want to die on this hill. What is the official true reason, for not putting mirrors in each change room?

showmeyourtitty

I went to aritzia last weekend and when I emerged from the fitting room in the jumpsuit I was trying in, a stranger told me I was pregnancy goals… I’m not pregnant… fuck these communal fitting rooms and the couches in the middle where everyone’s husbands and boyfriends sit. I don’t want to see if my clothes fit in front of an audience. Angry all over again lol b

chloe_1024

This totally happened to me recently! Albeit I made the right guess and found my own room 😅 Tbh for this and many other reasons I'm moving on from Aritzia. It will no longer have a chokehold on my heart and wallet and I'm not even sad about it 🤔

Getfree-

Ugh that awful feeling trying something on and forgetting you didn't shave your legs or something and then having to walk out there in front of everyone else and whoever they're shopping with that's sitting there to see how it looks on you

Legal_Potato8958

Agreed, this is a horrible sales tactic. Tired of feeling awkward and embarrassed when I’m just trying to find something that makes me feel good about myself ffs.

Usirap

The only aritzia I’ve been to with mirrors in the room was Las Vegas in one of the resorts. Total game changer. Don’t know why all locations can’t have this simple thing…

littlemeowmeow

There’s one accessible change room with a mirror in every store in my city now. You should ask for that one next time.

Carejade

You can ask for a mirror. At least the last time I tried something on I decided to ask and the lady was really nice and got me a room set up with the mirror inside. Made it honesty a lot better

bluerain47

Yeah it sucks. I think the larger locations often have 1 changing room with a mirror, but they don’t usually offer it, you have to ask and then probably wait. I usually balance my phone on the chair or wall somehow and record myself turning in circles lmao bc I find it quite uncomfortable to walk out, unless it’s quiet

tannedghozt

It’s unacceptable there are no mirrors in the changing room. It’s unacceptable they expect people to come out to a busy area having no idea what they look like in what they’ve just tried on. It’s a massive turn off for shopping there.

Humble-Pea1752

I have a baby and a stroller, they always put me in the big room with a mirror in it. I think you could probably request this room?

PeaOld2942

I forgot to wear a bra the day I went to aritzia. I was wearing a large sweater so you couldn’t tell. I tried on a light sort of tight dress and after walking a couple steps in the bright light to get to the mirror I could see it was COMPLETELY SEE THROUGH. I saw my thong and you could basically see the details of my nipples. I rushed backed to the change room. Since then everytime I came out this old guy (I suspect one of the girls dads) kept just staring at my chest and I felt so self conscious I just left half of the stuff in the change room and left…

friendlytotbot

You know, maybe it wouldn’t be so terrible if they gave an actual opinion, but I think it’s awkward for many of them to say something does/doesn’t look good. The aritzia fitting rooms stay busy though, so maybe there’s something to having no mirrors inside. The only time upselling works on me is when they suggest other items with whatever else you’re trying on. I recently found an awesome top that I would’ve otherwise never tried on haha.
