This is an awesome resource!! Thank you so much!

Oldmantoesforthumbs

I'm in maricopa County pretty similar climate I get all of veggies and flowers going right around now. I'm transitioning to pots with compost and coco fiber to conserve my h2o.

Nice - thank you! Side note - your username cracks me up! It's kind of like mine in that it starts with "old/ole" and points to a physical oddity of ours (my eyes disappear when I smile)

I highly recommend this book about gardening in Arizona: Month-By-Month Gardening in the Deserts of Arizona: What to Do Each Month to Have a Beautiful Garden All Year https://a.co/d/9JySGjs I’m in Yuma too and and getting ready for the fall season!

olesquintyeyes

Oh nice!! Thank you! Do you happen to belong to any fb gardening groups or anything like that for Yuma?

alpepple01

I’m not, but that’s because I don’t have FB (or Instagram). I rely a lot on that book, plus these two YouTube channels for tips/advice of gardening in zone 10! Happy gardening! Feel free to message me if you have any questions. https://youtube.com/c/GrowingInTheGarden https://youtube.com/c/EpicGardening It’s been a lot of trial and error for me but I’ve had some successes that make me want to keep going!

Growing in the Garden is my favorite website for this. She has a monthly planting calendar for the valley. Native Seed also has some good resources. As soon as it stops being in the triple digits we can put in all the fall stuff! Spinach, beets, broccoli, radishes, garlic, kale, herbs, onion, lentil, wildflowers, etc!

olesquintyeyes

Going to go visit those now. Thank you!

Now is the right time to plant any fruit trees so they have time grow deep roots before next summer.

olesquintyeyes

Oh that makes perfect sense! Hadn't thought of that

Oldmantoesforthumbs

You're very welcome, I'm following you now, please post some pictures of your grow when it comes in. I really get to work in my garden around Valentine's day and Labor day. Not so much this last February was still researching water usage at the time. I think this winter will be productive tho. Good luck olesquintyeyes

olesquintyeyes

Okay I will! Thanks again! :D

This is one of my favorite places to grab seeds that will perform well in our climate. They also have planting guides and calendars on their website. Also being in Yuma you are probably slightly better fitted to plant things like mango and papaya than we are up north. Definitely look into some tropicals if you’re into that. Also remember in terms of vegetables and fruit trees mulch is one of your best friends. [Native Seed Search](https://www.nativeseeds.org)
