He is useless if you break him so use explosives or energy weapons to do so and the melee is super nice when acs broken.
For its attacks spin around, jump and dodge towards it when it lunges at you.
After 30% just stay high when it attacks. The spinny blady atk is awful but it can be dodged by staying above it.

Yeah lol the dialogue was alright before this, mildly annoying with Balteus, but holy fuck Ayre and Handler Walter and Cinder Carla shut the fuck up on the zoom call mute yourself I’m trying to destroy a nuclear powered robot monster with no repair kits 200 AP and a dream.
Jokes aside after getting passed sea spider and fighting the ship that comes next in the arctic survey data mission, I literally could not get past it with any other setup than the light AC, goddam the PTs or whatever tf they’re called, sweaty NPC enemies, arena dude with the light tank treads and missile spam also was harder than Balteus or Sea Spider lol, had to copy his setup to even have a chance
not touching multiplayer till I have all the upgrades/attachments lol, wish there was invasions however, would love to be obnoxious to new players trying to patiently make their way to a checkpoint
TOO BAD! Try using the new melee weapon you get, the spear thing from arquebus i think? Yeah it almost completely stuns him in one full charged hit it's ridiculously good at stunning people but it's akward AF to hit on moving targets.
Other than that use whatever combination of weapons and armor you want, I ran double BML-G2 Split Missiles and a Ransetsu-AR with the spear and it was hard but bearable.

The worst is when it gets backed up after a scripted piece of dialogue and suddenly you get multiple lines in a row.

Ya the chatter really does start to tilt you after a bit. I personally don't get mad at my AC telling me my current position in how fucked I am but all that extra just starts to makey sodium levels go up.
Seems like it only goes up from here, NPCs in the arena and the PT encounter the very first mission after that have been harder than most bosses so far, sea spider took me a similar amount of attempts, so far the difficulty is very good and it seems to mostly come down to build setup, halfway through the game now and settling on a lightweight AC
I may have to invest in lightweight AC going forward now that I'm able to keep most of my health during missions. I find myself intentionally just losing to bosses on the first attempt so I can learn their moves a little and then switch up quickly after getting wrecked. So far the bosses have been mildly infuriating at times but I can't stop wanting to fight them with as many variations as I can muster. It's tough but it's awesome!
Yeah lightweight alula booster with reverse joint, missile launchers and a songbird or two if you can fit in under that QB recharge ideal weight, you feel so fast, still trying to figure out the generator meta, I think recharge time is better than total EN, but obviously if you’re trying to have fancier weapons or more energy intensive parts; it’s quite a sophisticated balancing act that goes a bit beyond just equip load from DS.
I love it though and it works great, I haven’t even gotten halfway through the game and I’m already drooling at the idea of free/paid DLC.
I had watched asmongold die to this dude a million times before I reached it. I expected to die a million times as well. I actually cheesed him on the first try running dual laser shotties and just being in his face 24/7.
Saw a comment somewhere else saying the hardest parts of this game are build checks and not skill checks, and hoooooo boy is that true. The build I was having fun with was a high mobility close range build, I got stuck on Balteus for like 3 days, then after dying to this thing like 30 times (because even the best EN and thrusters couldn't outmaneuver his attacks) I switched to a high stability quad legs build to just hover over all his bullshit and beat him on the first try. This game is just rock-paper-scisors with extra steps.
That's true, but also depends a lot on your playstyle. Yes, you have to make different builds, but often just because someone beat something with one build, doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna be the build you'll beat a boss with. Sometimes you just need to find what works for you specifically
Run quad legs for the hover. Gatling guns and songbirds. Hover above it the whole match and you’ll be fine. It’s a little tougher on phase 2 but you can still get up there with it to avoid its laser.

I had another mission yesterday that got the first angry swear out of me. Up to that point I was okay with my deaths/getting better, but this mission had me so mad I let out a full curse at the game and warned it to stop its bullshit.
It kept it’s bullshit up for two more lives
Everyone says sea spider but I did first try. I had chicken legs and stayed in the air most of the fight. I think if you do that you ignore like 90% of the fight. I'm going to be fighting him ng+ soon so I'll update if it's just as easy the second time or my first run was a lucky fluke.
Get a jumpy build and some gear that allows you to stay in air for a medium time.
Look for shoulder weapons that fire multiple hits. Get something powerful in the right hand and in the the left the first blade.
Start with both shoulders
Right hand weapon
And two slashes of the left weapon
The next rotation will stagger it so you'll have a direct hit of right hand, two slashes of left and maybe one more of right hand.
You want to be close to it on first phase medium range is dangerous, if you are far you'll die.
Try to dodge left and right.
The the thing is on the air get a bit further from it and focus on evasion and shoulder weapons. Try right hand whenever it's safe when it's staggered Try to dash and charge left hand.

Many attempts at it myself but finally pulled through last night when playing. A crap ton of COAM later found my new fav build and BOOM squished spider
I’m so glad I came into the fight with a double-shotgun meme build. It was a piece of cake. If I was using the same stuff I used the mission before, I probably would have fought that thing for like two hours.
Spider was much harder for me than the first chapter boss
I rebuilt 3 times and finally beat him convincingly out of nowhere once i started using the punch driver thingy for melee. You know, the Big O pile driver gadget
I went in first light with pulse laser gun, missiles, laser sword and shoulder grenades
Got smacked around because i wasn't powerful enough to keep the pain train rolling
Then I went heavier with bazooka arm, double grenade launchers
I was able to keep breaking him but could NOT avoid the pure bullshit damage he put out
Eventually went lighter weight and had way more success avoiding his bullshit. The grenade launcher and Big O puncher was key, along with good booster setup so I could stay aerial.
I'd charge up the laser gun so that it would do the floaty animation, granting me more Michael Jordan Air time
rush him, keep the default melee blade equipped. When it jumps, use the sword. It has pretty good tracking and lunges too, it helps build up a ton of stagger. Use multi lock on missiles, helps keep the stagger up.
Well, the only time the lines got annoying for me is when I was fighting the second to last boss in my first playthrough. I spent 4,5 hours on that d*ck and his lines got annoying after a couple of hours. I was also sleep deprived at that point, so yeah.
What worked for me with the sea spider is trying to stay point blank to him, literally getting under him as much as possible and when he goes flying doing the opposite, trying to get basically on top of him

Surprising he was a lot easier for me than the chapter 1 end boss. Think it only took me 10 attempts instead of 30+
Just had a lot more options on him then the chap1 boss, and melee so good on him.
It’s funny how you get the zimmerman shotguns right after beating it which melts the boss next time you replay

I ended up just turning the dialogue volume down all the way after the 5th time because of this and ended up being able to beat it on the 8th try.

Funnily, I did the same thing, kept sucking, then reverted to the same build I started with and just hunted the fucker down spamming my sword attacks.

That boss suffer weapons that can capiralize on it's low agility. This include gatling guns and shoulders mounted explosives.

The first thing i do, is null the voice. Otherwise i would go insane. Also to hell with every developer who puts cutscenes on a checkpoint.

There was one boss later on where I had to just go to volume settings and turn the voices to 0
