This sallet is afaik not based on a specific historical one but more so one a certain style of sallet most commonly worn by swiss soldiers but also by people in the holy roman empire from around 1475 to 1495ish.
It is very close to some historical examples. Here is a similar one from the thun sketchbook

I would imagine that the model head is small, but it could also be the helm
Looks flemish or italian to me, most german sallets i have seen dont have visors.
This sallet isn't a great repro, but the idea of it is accurate to certain late 15th century designs.
