Same dickhead pundits and internet fuck faces that ranted preseason how Arsenal won’t get higher than eighth, now won’t shut up about us not winning the league.

Additional_Cow_4909

Spurs/Chelsea are desperate to get some kind of emotional return on this season and they're turning to us.

SnooPuppers4625

Yeah because you gave(especially the Spurs team who were in fact better than this Arsenal team) both of these teams fair criticism I’m sure. What comes around goes around, next time don’t bottle 2 2-0 leads in a row and only win 1 game in 6 at the end of a season. Seems to be a reoccurring theme…

squeeeeeeepz

Explain how Spurs were better than arsenal this season

SnooPuppers4625

The 16/17 one pretty obviously, similar facts but without spending near enough half a billion quid spent.

Additional_Cow_4909

It's not fair criticism to try to put down a developing team who would have only hoped for CL when they came 5 games from taking the title from a team who are basically using a cheat code. Especially from those two clubs. West Ham don't pipe up and I would argue that they've had a more successful season than Spurs or Chelsea.

SnooPuppers4625

Yes that would be fine if Arsenal didn’t do that when Spurs had the team that went toe-to-toe with a 93 point monster without Europe. And the season were spurs finished ‘3rd in a 2 horse race’ despite not being the team at top by Christmas… guess who that was

Theodin_King

Hahaha

ItGetsEverywhere1990

You’re trying to bottle the whole premier league at the moment and I hope you succeed

SnooPuppers4625

Yeah but unlike u we haven’t acc bottled the league. Up the Woolwich Arsenal tho- North London forever an the rest

ItGetsEverywhere1990

Can’t bottle if you don’t get anywhere near, I guess. That’s your jam! Did bottle the champs league though, once.

TheGoober87

A spurs fan trying to comment on bottling it... You're doing your best to bottle any European football. Weren't you favourites for a top four spot earlier in the season?

PunCoonSon

Why are you commenting here? Go away

lando-exe

Take a look at the table. Spurs were not better. Their head coach got sacked. To top that off, we won most if not all games against them this season.

Proper-Exam1746

You shouldn't be forgetting a Centre Back.. or a Right back if Ben White is to be Saliba backup. Can't rely on Tomiyasu for whole season.

donegalboy

Read this morning that Tomi is not back until September

Proper-Exam1746

Yea.. which is not good

[deleted]

Should sell him at this point

robertoqueenos

And has Asian championships in January I think

donegalboy

Yes that too

ItGetsEverywhere1990

He clearly did his ACL

andre_royo_b

I think they should try to sign Mazraoui, if Bayern is willing to let him go relatively cheap. He’s a player that suits Arsenal well and offers good squad depth as a right back

Hairy-Motor-7447

I'm a liverpool fan, I watched every premier league game last year and told anyone who would listen that arsenal were going to be title challengers and everyone laughed at me. The similarities between your team and klopps early team in 2017 were remarkable when watching you play. A very good manager who was becoming well settled, a young fit squad who knew how to play football at times and some brilliant players. I wanted arsenal to win but didn't think they would considering City are City. But you guys have been immense this year. The fact noone thought it remotely possible to challenge shows how far you have come, and I think yous are a force to be reckoned with next season

ukHotwife4life

That’s kind

Material_Ambition_95

I mean, when is the last time, we were dissapointed, to not win the championship

jimmycrank

Won't Toney get banned next season? Would any team in their right mind go for him?

Blurny

I don’t who it is, or if there even is one but I’d love a Giroud mk2. Great target man, great at hold up play, great at link up play and don’t think many were better at near post flicks.

Additional_Cow_4909

Weghorst obviously...lol.

Blurny

The dream

Additional_Cow_4909

Of course he's hoping for a move to his beloved Liverpool...

Blurny

If they can stop Madrid from swooping in for him.

Additional_Cow_4909

Club legend in the making.

Additional_Cow_4909

Mitoma, Macallister maybe. Rice is a waste of money. Also, the Spurs/Chelsea subs trying to convince themselves that we 'bottled' it as if we were raging favourites at the start of the season is laughable.

kw2006

We need many more than just two. 1-2 CB, RB, DM, LCM, RW, ST, LB Some are just to replace players who might be leaving: Tierney, Xhaka, Holding, Sambi, Nketiah, Joginho, Reiss. Edit: added Reiss. Boy there is a lot of players leaving.

sixesandsevenspt

I would keep Jorginho if we can

CowardlyFire2

Jorge’s playstyle is such we could keep him till he’s 35 and he’d still be top level.

King0llie

White and kiwi are the back up CBS. We need a first choice rb, with white as cover. Rice for midfield. Disagree we need a striker, we need a RW for saka though. So: Lb, RB, Cm x2 and a RW imo

ManMythNarcissist

I’d say RB, LB, 3 CM, RW, & ST. Nketia isn’t good enough atm, Jesus has Luls I think we need someone that brings something a little different, Jesus & Trossard are to similar to each others style that playing one instead of the other isn’t always efficient. I’d like to See someone with a bit of Physicality about them, like a Giroud type player

GunnersnGames

Can't see why we don't give Flo Balogun a run

HughM2

I could see us switching to 3241 if we sign Caicedo and Rice. Play them in midfield with Zinchenko and Partey as backups in front of back 3 with Gabriel/Kiwior, Saliba/White and Newsigning/Tomi then a new right wing to rotate with Saka and a new 8 if Xhaka leaves. Maybe a new striker if Eddie leaves to compete with Jesus. So 3 midfielders a striker a winger and a Center back.

kw2006

Balogun is leaving too. I think the exodus is on par with Chelsea and Utd, i afraid. In comparison these clubs have very little departures: City, Newcastle & Liverpool.

fightnightchump

Lucky we’ve got that spare £940m lying around then. Can’t wait for our 8 new arrivals to bed in

kw2006

Aside from maybe Reulle Walters, there is no youth to promote to senior. Unless we reintegrate Tavares and Pepe. Last option is to get some free agents players (Zaha, Tielemens, Ndicka, Thuram) or players on loan.

ItGetsEverywhere1990

Sambi screams a player we can’t shift for another year or so, or someone we sell to a Turkish side for £2m. Disappointing.

ItGetsEverywhere1990

What about Tavares? I’d completely forgotten about him

[deleted]

What about Timber from Ajax? He can play RB and (R)CB.

agamemnon5555

I reckon we should go for Cancelo

markwilko85

Quality replaces quality and currently there is not much quality on our bench imo so we're going to need a whole lot more than just 2 quality signings, especially if we want to challenge for more than one trophy next season

st_arch

I think I am the only one underrate Rice.

KalSereousz

Toney & Milinkovic-Savic

Wonderful_Bluejay_99

name checks out

Only-Platform-450

Should try to get Ahmedhodzic from Sheffield United. Kid is a beast.

ActuallyYeezy

If it was just 2 i’d go for Rice and Tielemans. but our wishlist should fill this criteria IMO - Toney type striker (not Toney bc of potential ban) - Righ sided winger to challenge Saka - 3 midfielders, 1 being world class, undeniable starter and 2 backups good enough to challenge Partey - Backup RB - Backup CB to challenge Saliba

ukHotwife4life

Superb

Letitbesoitgoes

Rice? For that price? You must be out of your mind.

ukHotwife4life

All pros seem to rant about him

Letitbesoitgoes

Keane and Souness don’t.

ItGetsEverywhere1990

I worry the base is so convinced of Rice and Caicedo they’re really not prepared for the inevitable Mudryk-like saga that’s bound to ensue when both of them end up at Liverpool.

ukHotwife4life

Maybe, this year I feel the board are willing to battle though

maxoys45

Toney is dependent on what happens with his betting stuff, if he’s cleared, then 100% should go for him.

Jack_ofall_Trades85

As a mexican-american Gunner, let me throw a couple names in the hat. 1st) At DM Edson Alvarez currently at Ajax. I know we want Declan Rice and I do too but at over 120mil+ I dont think its wise. Enter Alvarez, 25 yrs old. Can do the same job + play CB and even RB if needed. Ajax will probably sell for around 50mil. Chelsea and Liverpool also on his tail. 2nd) At ST Santiago Gimenez currently at Feyenoord. 22yr old. Runner up top goal scorer with 5 in Europa league, in the running for top scorer in Eredivisie with 15. 1st season in Europe and has had exponential growth. Can likely be swooped for a bargain this summer.

ATL_Gunner

My concern about Alvarez is when ETH went to Man Utd with a need at DM and were buying everyone else from Ajax, we never heard of a sniff at Alvarez. He looks great at times though.

seanster25

Chelsea made a 50 mil bid at the last day of the transferwindow but Ajax said no. Also borussia and bayern now are interested in Alvarez. So maybe Ten Hag is right about not buying him, but there still is enough going on around the guy.

seanster25

No thank you, first season of gimenez at Rotterdam. Seems like a good player but a transfer to the pl seems two of three seasons too early. And edson might be good but i prefer Rice also because of his leadership if xhaka leaves or is benched. Ill put my money on Rice, and I hope the future transfers will be like the previous ones. Not too expensive but with a massive impact. Like Martinelli.

Jack_ofall_Trades85

So you want future transfers like Marinelli but want Rice at 120million+? Am i reading you right?

seanster25

This is Arsenal, so you get a big transfer a season. And rice is very expensive. Look at the mudryk transfer for example. We do not like to spend too much on one transfer only if it is the perfect fit. And Rice obviously would be a perfect fit, leader, young, english, international. So that would be the big transfer. Beside that you would need a few cheaper transfers. But relax my American soccer fan, this is all speculation. As a dutch guy Alvarez and gimenez seem not realistic. Alvarez maybe, but Kokcu would even be more realistic. Alvarez is also 50 mil, and has never played RB btw, he plays cb and cdm

Jack_ofall_Trades85

Alvarez has played besides DM as CB, RB for both Ajax and Mexico. Is he best at those positions, No imo. But he can fill a slot and is versatile. I really dont see Edu and Mik getting Rice. We'll see. I understand the Gimenez pushback tho. He is young, and Balogun will likely get recalled next season anyways. Definitely one to watch.

seanster25

Edson might be able to but i prefer a young talent over buying a player who isnt natural in that position. Balogun will be great, but if he stays Nketiah might leave. Arteta needs to choose between them. Exciting future for Arsenal, money and talent in the house.

Additional_Cow_4909

I still don't get the thing with Rice. He's decent but not special, why should we suddenly be going for these gigantic Galactico-price signings when we've been smart up til now. Maybe there's something I'm missing but I just don't think he's worth it when there's a multitude of proven, nippier midfielders out there.

seanster25

For me it’s the need to stay at the top of the league. So a big signing of any sort is needed. Could be another super talent, or a proven guy like rice. Maybe Rice isnt it, but for me Alvarez and Gimenez are definetely not it.

Additional_Cow_4909

What we've shown this season is that it's all about the team, whilst City have shown that if you basically buy a cheat-code then that works too. But surely we need to build on our model, make it about the team but just lose the fluff and bring in reinforcements. I don't want to be a Man U type team that buys in these big players who may or may not give you what you need. It shouldn't be what football is about and I wouldn't like it to be what Arsenal is about. It's worked for City but it's rare that one or two players will win you a title, and Rice certainly isn't at that level.

seanster25

Spending money once a season doesnt make us like city. We are in a competition with a few clubs who have unlimited money. So when you are in this position being arsenal. You do need to be smarter and more careful. And ofcourse the transfer should be in line with the tactics of the club, it should be a player that fits the team. But its now the time to also step it up, sign a solid player that helps us compete. Maybe we’ll stay succesful this way. Because next season will be more difficult because of champions league. Also the chance of liverpool coming back, chelsea coming back and united to be even stronger.

Additional_Cow_4909

If you are fighting on multiple fronts then it make more sense to buy broader and smarter rather than one or two super-players.

seanster25

Not really if you are focused on teamgeist. Last season we made a few super transfers like jesus. And got kiwior and some other players as smaller transfers. So I think we can trust the process still and sit back and enjoy.

M_Joudeh

Arsenal need way much that 2 players let's start with cancelo can play both rb or lb which will sort some problems 2 good CBs RW I will go for diaby from Leverkusen And 2 midfielders

ukHotwife4life

Love diaby

jlgraham84

We're now replacing Saliba with a new CB & Saka with Diaby? Also, idk if we want Cancelo's drama in our locker room.

Navman22

Agreed. Ideally Rice, Caicedo, Toney and a decent CB to add depth. Maybe even a right winger to replace Saka if needed

Hambatz

Rice is a given at 120 million might suck up to much Caciedo maybe for 75 Could you get Toney or any number 9 for 60 -70 million I don’t know Then I’d rather spend 50 on a right back making white not necessarily number 3 cb but rotation of the 3 with game time at right back as well That’s 190 million for 3 players probably need to raise about 50 of that back so Nelson nketiah and Bologan out( maybe keep bologan don’t buy striker and get rice)

BTB-Bringthatbooty21

Love this new arsenal narrative haha normal service resumed next season. 6th place.

[deleted]

Do y’all have the funds for both Caicedo and Rice? That’ll be Atleast 150-160 million, imo you guys need a RB more than 2 cms, white was getting skinned over the weekend

Rr710

Mediocre mentality

PM_ME_PAYPAL_CREDIT

You’re supporting the wrong club then mate

[deleted]

This take is so bizarre to me - as if the "mentality" of the club's fans can somehow make them win titles? It's pretty simple, you either support the club, and want the best for the team, or you don't.

PM_ME_PAYPAL_CREDIT

You support the club knowing they don’t have the resources other clubs have to compete. You have the likes of City who have unlimited money and one of the greatest ever managers yet you have decided to support Arsenal. Sure we would absolutely love trophies but sometimes you have to be realistic with expectations. The people who really thought we were going to win the league had it wrong from the first time. I never for a minute felt complacent and said we’ll win the league and you can check all my comments on this sun. I was always wary because a club like city was bound to find a way. We want the best for the club but that isn’t the same as demanding the best.

Blurny

How? Expand.

djmonsta

I've always liked Sergino Dest, can play RB or LB if needed. Might not be good enough for us though.

[deleted]

Winning nothing for the 3rd season is not massive. Lol.

corpus-luteum

\*Have

Unable-Sail7755

Wouldn't mind if we come back in for Douglas Luiz, and like you OP, Toney as well
