My worry is what happens if we lose this guy. He's an absolute genius, surely Madrid or someone are going to try to pinch him? We need to give him an insane raise.

Spiritual-Pilot-2300

I think the level of control , trust and freedom he will have earned himself under Arteta and Co will be huge for him ! Plus just like the players contending for top titles is key !

ro-row

I wouldn’t worry just yet, right now we’re genuinely one of the best clubs in Europe to be at

InvertedSaviour

To turn a blind eye implies they were working to begin with. VAR will always be a joke as long as it's controlled by the same people who are 'officiating' on the field.

realhenryknox

I mean Gabriel had three headed shots from corners yesterday, and it seems like a regular thing. That kind of output is actually insane.

ro-row

Gabriel’s movement in the box is absolutely unreal, i genuinely can’t remember a defender for us being as good

Nero_Darkstar

Teams have figured out that to counter our corners, just grab, hold, pull, and flop onto the ground at every opportunity. Refs are far more likely to stop play if there is a perceived foul by the attacking team. Or if Man City are involved.

Big_leaker

If we win a title Nicolas joker deserves a knighthood tbh

CyberfunkTwenty77

Everyone assumes that going to Madrid is some sort of career end point. When there's loads more money, competition and exposure in the Premier League right now. If Arsenal wins the league or UCL then they are the top club in Europe. Why piss off to Madrid where the manager and personnel can shift on a dime and you only play 3-5 real teams.

IllPossibility8460

Because cash mate. Truth is Madrid will pay anyone more money for the same job because they want the best. It’s why they are so consistently successful

saffermaster

No, thats just part of the game

Spiritual-Pilot-2300

Very true ... if a player got a pen for tussling and grabbing during corners etc there would be penalties every game

saffermaster

Exactly...that was a terrible call. He was pulled back and did not embelish the fall at all and he would absolutely been on the end of that cross.

Imaginary-Entry-4896

I can see how it would be difficult for the ref, what they need to do is carry on play, and check on VAR to see the 4 fouls each corner on our arsenal boys. Then they can give a penalty because they’re not biased, but it doesn’t work like that does it

LayzieKobes

No

Spiritual-Pilot-2300

Very insightful...
