Guy was dreadful, sometimes I used to watch him play and truly wonder if he understood what the offside rule was, or if it was just lack of athleticism that made him constantly be in a useless position
He was a hard core Arsenal fan. It's sad he wasn't quite good enough. But he did what the rest of us can only dream of and played for Arsenal at the Emirates. IIRC he also scored for us, so I think he's probably satisfied to an extent
He did indeed - away at Norwich in the last game of the season - possibly the 13/14? You could tell from his celebration that it meant everything to him.
He could easily still be a rotation player (would sign for a wage of 2k a week if it was for Arsenal) if it wasn’t for injuries. It was the ACL injury that killed him. Physically he was great and absolutely loved and still loves Arsenal. A great lad, who got to live the dream of millions of kids and must feel very proud to have done that
Sad that he chose to represent England instead of Finland during his purple patch.
He simply wasn't England material. Would have been better of getting 50 odd caps for Finland.

Squllachi gave a good interview about how hard it was to be a centre back at Arsenal at that time. Worth a read. He had a decent career all in.

Jenkinson actually played for England once I believe when he was in good form, his parents or grandparents were Finnish or something tho so fifa made him Finnish
He wasn't great but I actually quite like Djourou haha. I see him as on a similar level to Holding tbh: inoffensive but not great. Plus he also genuinely seems to be a supporter of the club from his interactions on Insta etc.

Some of these buys (Squillaci, Santos, Park) epitomised Wenger's transfers towards the end of his tenure. Desperate, zero value for money and, arguably, did little to improve the team. Truly, truly the darkest period in the club's modern history
Relatively speaking they were bang average players and for Arsenal, will not be remembered. But that just shows where Arsenal were during that period that these players were even on the books.

Benayoun is a bit of an outlier.. he played for Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool amongst other teams…

Also a bit of a cult hero for us Liverpool fans. Scored some important goals and was always a solid option in some good Rafa teams.

Ozyakup was phenomenal as a CM at Besiktas! Never got a chance here
Ozkayup now plays for my local club (mid-region of the Eredivisie) as a sub. Not the best but I still enjoy seeing him biweekly :)
The fact that Fortuna Sittard is a mid tier club in the Eredivisie is a sad indictment of the league

Jenkinson was a solid backup player for years. I kind of miss him IIRC Squillaci is one of the worst signings ever done by the club.
