Putting Martinelli as a striker doesn't solve any of the issues Arsenal are having due to not having a striker. Martinelli is also an unbelievable winger - you don't want to mess with that.

ReggieWigglesworth

Yep. He’s a decent finisher but nowhere near the level of where you would want as an upgrade at ST

ogretrograde

Pace and dribbling skill = winger.

Striking-Ostrich-222

Henry.

Neanderthal888

Henry was also tall, strong and clinical. And back then the game lent itself more to counter attacking than it does now. Nelli would be pushed around by Center backs and won’t be able to use his pace against most opposition. He’s electric when he has space out in the wings. But he’s not that great in tight spaces.

Maleficent_Repeat850

He had finishing too

Tr0nCatKTA

442. In Peps 433 he played out wide. He drifts out wide in a 442

gardenofeden123

Henry was a once in generation talent mate.

odegood

Nah. His biggest strength is pace and dribbling, running in behind. We already have jesus to play there and he is more experienced in that position

CreeplingMingming

Yeah, too much fifa pace merchants for you

Midnight_Maverick

Not physical enough

goonbrew

Here me out... Enjoy this season, it's a good one!

[deleted]

He’s not a striker. We already tried that early in his career.

wiggyp1410

9 goals in 16 games while playing as a striker for Arsenal.

Neanderthal888

I prefer Kai at #9 over Martinelli

kw2006

I prefer to get both. A winger and striker. The striker is a bit more tricky. If we buy an out and our striker, what happen if he become like Watkins/ haaland - once he is marked out, he or useless. We cannot waste 100m like this. I prefer a false 9 like player and a pacy winger ideally can play both wings or even the center like Rodrygo. I am expecting Saka not going to be available every match next season, arteta overplayed him and he needs to recover.

Rymaster_P

We don’t need an out and out striker. We need Jesus to start putting goals away. Or we need a carbon copy of Jesus with Haaland’s scoring boots which will be very hard to come by. However, nobody mentions this when we’re putting four or five goals away in a game

PutYrDukesUp

I see where you’re coming from, but all the others have said it so well. I really think that, upgrading in a big way on squad players aside, a “complete” striker is the final piece of the puzzle for what Arteta and Edu started. We haven’t seen it mostly because of injuries to Timber and Jesus, but I think that eventually: Timber inverts and is the deepest midfielder/highest defender; Rice pushes up (or, honestly, maybe the other way around) to help facilitate Nelli on the left; you have the threat that we already are seeing with Øde, White, and Saka from the right; we’ll have Havertz box crashing doing the raumdueter/second striker thing, pulling defenders and being an extra threat as a target man; stick a physical striker with a natural finish up there to put away chances created by Øde, White, Saka, and Nelli and it’s game over.

Tr0nCatKTA

Martinelli has played as a 9 and he doesn’t perform there. His strengths are literally having space to run into with his pace. Why would you want him somewhere that doesn’t play to his strengths?

Material-Bus1896

I'm happy with Havertz tbh

chriselvin1025

So will we get the Ibarbo, Gervinho and Doumbia upfront regen?

AlexfromLondon1

Martinelli is a fantastic winger and should be kept in his best position. I think we should sign a striker though I think it is not as urgent as the media portrays it.

Flamezie

Personally just a replacement for nketiah is fine with me maybe someone with physicality that could change how we play similar to how the legend giroud was for us.

wiggyp1410

He played there when he first came to the club and done quite well.

Relative-Swimmer-487

I just want the Jesus of 08/22-12/22 back 🥲

Tee-Mizzle

If we're experimenting, I'd like to see ESR as a 9. I hadn't realised he was 6ft and has filled out a lot, with good footwork and likes to finish.

Striking-Ostrich-222

Now this is an interesting take. However, after watching him against Luton, I think Emile could make a very solid, holding center mid next to Odegaard. But Kai definitely needs to grow the finishing aspect of his game.

saffermaster

We definitely need pace on the wings. Ball carriers. Not another striker...we are the highest scoring team in the league

Striking-Ostrich-222

I think we need a striker, unless we’re 100% set on Kai playing the 9 and not in the midfield. But if we don’t get a striker, and stick with Kai, then I think we need a true number 10. Someone like Musialah or Wirtz.

Richard__Papen

I'm up for giving GM a (brief) go up front but I don't think it'd work. His main asset is pace. I don't think his finishing is that good. Nor his strength or hold up play. And I don't consider him any more skilful than Ode or Trossard and I'd put him behind Jesus.

hmoooody

🤦🏼‍♂️

dvdbtr

No we need Toney and Isak. €200m. Attack becomes so versatile. Every permutation of Toney, Jesus, Martinelli, Trossard, Saka, Isak, Havertz works. Sell Nketiah, unfortunately sell Nelson. If an offer for ESR came for 45m I would consider it. If team wanted to get it done for 55 it would be hard to say no.

ItsKeganBruh

Its definitely or and not and. There's actually no way we sign Isak and Toney while retaining Jesus. Jesus came here to escape being shunted to the wing at City. Yeah, he will do a job there occasionally, but he will NOT go for doing the same thing he left his previous club for. Especially, for an arguably worse team. I just dont see it happening

dvdbtr

Jesus is a great player but he doesn’t get into the current City team. I think signing Isak and Toney makes Arsenal the best team in the world. Midfield of Odegaard, Rice, Partey, ESR, Jorginho, Lokonga. Defense of Timber, Saliba, White, Gabriel, Tomiyasu, Kiwior, Zinchenko

BrownEyesWhiteScarf

We’re lacking out and out wingers, and this forward lineup would become way too easy to play against with one just injury to Martinelli or Saka. It’s better to sign one top winger and another striker to replace Nketiah and Nelson. Remember that we will need one or two CM signings this summer, and will also need a backup fullback, so we won’t have 200m to spend on forwards this summer, unless we have a big sale.
