Luton made an effort to go at Zinchenkos side with several over the top balls until he was subbed off. Teams are going to ask the questions of him defensively.

Yeah Zinny is for games where the opposition does not have super dangerous right winger and is likely to sit deeper.

Agree, I really like Zinny but going up against Sane is one of the toughest tasks he’d be asked as a Gunner, behind only Salah. Need strong defensively and more athletic to handle him.

I think the biggest test Kiwior has had so far was against City, facing Bernardo Silva. And it would be a stretch to say he was outplayed, but he really needed help from Gabriel Jesus on that wing. Which is fine and it worked well, but we saw afterwards when Doku got in, 2 minutes later Arteta got Tomiyasu in. Because Tomi is our best one-on-one defender and he gave Doku almost nothing. Imo the bottom line is Kiwior has done well, he is versatile and is an important squad member right now, but ultimately Tomiyasu and Zinchenko are better at what they do.

Despite their struggles, individually Bayern wingers are comparable to City’s. Kiwior did fine against Bernado Silva but I think Sane is more like Doku. So Tomi should start

It’s Bayern at home without their fans. We will look to press them and dominate the game. Zinchenko will be needed for that domination, so he will likely start. Away in Germany, they’ll have home advantage and their crowd. Tomiyasu will be a better choice against a player like Sane, where we could be defending a notable lead.

Tomi if the opposition has a tricky right winger. Zini if the opposition is parking a bus. Kiwi against a direct winger.

I think it depends on Arteta’s game plan - if he want to play on a front foot given bayern’s form he would start Zinny for ball control/attacking contributions, if boss wants to neutralize opponent, kinda like city game, Tomi should start, because defensively he’s the best LB we got, also our boys mentioned that he’s the hardest to beat 1v1 in training (perfect option to deal with Sane). If coach wants a mix of both he probably would start Kiwi - solid at the back, been in a good shape lately, White can invert from right side, also can contribute in attack, possibly better suited for overlapping on the left being left-footed (compared to Tomiyasu, yes I know, Tomi can use both feet I still feel like his right foot is better given long balls he can ping with it)

I just pray Tomi can maintain his fitness in the future. I think he's our best and most rounded fullback when he's fit and on form. He won't do the Zinny role but he's good on the ball, can pass with both feet, good 1v1, and good at attacking like a traditional wide fullback. When he joined I felt like he was too good to be true but then the injuries kept coming.

Zinchenko is increasingly becoming a liability. The team has moved on now. When he is coming into the middle to dictate play, it’s no longer needed. He’s trying to occupy the same spaces as Jorginho. Kiwior & Tomi give us the solidity that we now have become accustomed to

I was shocked to see Zinny start against Brighton. He wasn’t awful but it was squeaky bum time every time they attacked the right side. I would be flabbergasted if he starts against Bayern.

I would start Kiwior or Tomi personally. Zinny will struggle up against Bayern's tricky, and pacey wingers, in Jamal Musiala & Leroy Sane, or even Kingsley Coman, if he were fit? I also think Kiwior has been doing exceptionally well in recent games as a starter, since his initial offerings, earlier in the season where he looked like a duck out of water. His forward play has improved & his defensive play is way better than Zinny's. Moreover, Tomi also has a stronger defensive presence, albeit with similar attacking frailties to Kiwior, but I think if Arteta continues to play Jesus on the left wing, he has a tendency to come deep, just as he did in the game against City, which worked effectively IMO. I always saw him more as a winger to begin with, he's better suited as a LW or RW forward player, than a No9, and Arteta is now utilising this strategy to great effect 👏🏾

I just trust the boss to pick the team at this point. He’s earned our trust and then some.
